i was trying to do a trade in GTS but i don't know what a junkmon is
is it just any old pokemon?

You've got it. When people refer to "junkmon" they mean any old normal pokemon that has basically no value. (Due to the GTS requiring you trade an equal amount of pokemon, you have to add junkmon to your offer if you wish to trade items for a pokemon for example.)

thanks for this I didn't know what a junkmon was so I had just avoided those GTS trades
