Mega Spriting Contest

Hello everyone!
Did you feel that enormous power just now? It's been told that when this happens, more pokémon gain the ability to evolve beyond their normal forms. Some pokémon that aren't supposed to, suddenly gain this mysterious power that allows them to mega evolve. I haven't seen it confirmed, though.
As these are rumours, we don't actually know anything about them. No idea what they look like nor how they got that power. We only know that pokémon that shouldn't be able to, suddenly get a new evolution. Not exactly the easiest conversation starter.

Maybe you guys have seen them? If you have, please tell us everything you know! What do the mysterious pokémon look like? What does the power look like? Is there a type-change? We're drawing a total blank, so answer those questions however you like!

Reward Time
As with all contests, there's something in it for everyone who joins. If you're one of the winners, not only is your sprite going to be part of a site-wide event distribution, you'll also get a shiny of that sprite as a prize!

If you join, but don't win, as always there'll be a consolation prize as a thank you for joining (:

Sprite Requirements
!! Your sprite must NOT have been published elsewhere, anywhere. Only new and original sprites are allowed !!
Sprite Size: The size of the canvas you use, should be 96 x 96 px at most. The sprite itself doesn't need to be that size, but please fill in the needed space with transparent pixels.
Sprite design: You are free to choose any (non-legendary) pokémon to try and give a mega evolution. Do not use event pokémon! Only the original Pokémon-sprites can be used for this contest. Most importantly, have fun!
Obtaining: You are allowed to suggest a way to obtain* your mega-pokémon. This is decided upon separately and will not affect your mega-submission. It's possible for your event to win, but still be obtained differently.
copyright: The sprite [and design] has to be done completely by you. You are not allowed to include (parts of) sprites or designs from other artists, excluding official sprites, as a base. You can also make the sprite from scratch. Previous sprites can also not be submitted. You are NOT allowed to publish your sprite anywhere during the contest and event time.

Please use the following form and send it through PM to CatLady. If you post your event in this thread, it will be disqualified.

The amount of accepted user-made Events depends on the quality & quantity of the submissions. We cannot release 3 huge Event Distributions within one month, but we can obviously publish 3-4 minor Events in a month.
We'll pick the best submissions and create an individual Event Distribution based on the amount of winners.

Please submit your finished sprite(s) through PM only

Deadline
The deadline is August 13th, 23:59
The winners will be chosen by us, the staff, based on quality.

Note: due to Riako wanting to keep the sprites a secret as long as possible, the winners will only be revealed on the day their sprite will be released. This will cause some winners to know they've won earlier than others.
The consolation prize will only be distributed when the last winner is revealed.
If there is a long period between the second-to-last and the last winner prizes may be distributed earlier [and the final winner will be notified by me and sworn to secrecy]

Gotta question(s). Is it alright to submit an entry, if the doodle design is known - but the sprite design isn't known? Like saying the general idea is out, but not the sprite?

@Absbor - Unfortunately no. Sketches and drawings will not be accepted as entries for this contest. Only pixel sprites that fit the criteria will qualify.

@C0FFee - there is not a limit, but from experience I would say no more than 3.

@chungus - yes, you are allowed to recolor any of the mega bubbles / stones.

Furret answered the questions correctly, but I'd like to clarify/specify that "3" is a personal suggestion of hers. There's no hard limit to the number of entries you can submit.

Title: SAI won't let me export :')

So I won't be able to participate seeing as SAI won't let me save or export (well there was a post here, but I suppose I'm not allowed to post my botched attempt of a mega, so it got deleted. S a d)

Influence others? I mean, I suppose if they decide to copy the design, it's not the nicest thing to do (art theft and all) but I doubt anyone will since it's pretty frowned upon in the art community and if that does happen I don't think people will endorse it openly

They don't have to copy the idea completely to be influenced by what others say.

I suppose what I don't get is why that's a bad thing-- If it's not copying, it's not wrong to take inspiration from someone else's design.

I did have that post written out too, a PM could have been better so I could have copied and pasted it into a google doc to wait before you took it down-- That way I could have reposted it when the contest was over.

@Absbor - I re read your question and realized I didn't exactly address it fully!

As long as it's not an exact copy of the design! You can use the original design for inspiration but please make changes to it.

There's a difference between someone researching something to get inspiration and it being forced onto them.
Don't post submissions [or non-submissions] here, it's simple as that.

....Forced onto them? I definitely don't understand this part. I didn't force anything onto them-- if anything I was sad that I couldn't submit my piece, but it wasn't like I was maliciously trying to force people to do anything somehow.

Posting something without others asking about it [especially if you're not supposed to] is forcing it onto them.
This is also veering away from the actual topic [the mega spriting contest], so if you wish to discuss the semantics, please shoot me a PM.

Hmm hmm, I can't say I quite follow, but seeing how proactive and comprehensive this conversation has been, I'm not going to continue. I don't understand the logic there, but if I did something wrong, I didn't mean it, and I'll own that. I didn't post a submission, and I wasn't trying to qualify. It wasn't clear that I wasn't allowed to, so I don't believe I committed any sort of harm(perhaps crime is a better word, forgive me) against the PH art community.
