PokéHeroes Crafting Contest

Time to decorate the house! One figurine here, another wooden flower there. . . Done!
Oh, hi! Didn’t see you there before. I was just trying to find a way to display all my creations, but I seem to have a few spots left. Maybe you can help fill them up? Maybe there's something new you've always wanted to try? It's always nice to show that to the world, wouldn't you agree? As long as they don’t require you to get too close to people or stay out with other people for longer periods of time, of course. Maybe you can learn how to play the piano, or the guitar. . . or maybe you can try your hand(s) at sculpting something!

We’ve had some (2D) artistic contests before, so let’s take this one to the third dimension! Ever wanted to see Leah from all sides? See the Honeytree from up close? Here’s your chance!
Take some clay, make some salt dough, try some new origamis or try to 3D-layer some interesting designs; as long as it’s in 3D, you’re on the right track (:
So. . . now that you know what you can use, what exactly do you need to do?
Pick anything pokéheroes or pokémon related and make a 3D model of it. This can go from a figurine to an entire scene! You can also check out last year's entries to pick up some inspiration!


Reward Time

Knowledge is the only reward you need in life! Even so, giving additional rewards isn't so bad. So as with all contests, there's something in it for everyone who joins. If you're one of the winners, you will receive 4 months of premium.

If you join, but don't win, as always there'll be a consolation prize of 2 weeks premium for the effort you put in as a thank you for joining (:


Entry Requirements

Creation type: 3D.

* You are allowed to use colours on your structure, but drawings of any kinds won’t be allowed if they’re the only thing. A drawn scene of Leah staring out at sea is not okay. A sculpted Leah staring into a drawn background of the sea is fine. The 3D model needs to be the main interest, but can be supported by drawings.

* You can use 3D modeling software to figure out your design, but it needs to be realised for it to count.

Creation design: Pokémon or PokéHeroes

* As long as it’s related to PokéHeroes or pokémon, you can let your creativity go wild. PokéSonas are also fair game, though please make sure you have permission to use said PokéSona.

* Due to the nature of the prize, we reserve the right to decide a submission is excluded from the consolation prize if it's clear no real effort [less than 30 minutes of work] was put into the artwork.

Copyright: It has to be made entirely by you.

* The use of pre-existing figurines or art drawn by someone else will disqualify you from the participation prize as well. What you submit needs to be 100% yours.


How to enter

Please send a picture of your final piece through PM to CatLady. Put "Crafting Contest Entry" as the subject. Include at least 2 photos from different angles and 1 WIP-photo. Include your username somewhere in the photo*. Only the photo you want to submit for voting, should not have your username on it, so the other Staff don't know it's you.

[tl;dr - 4 photos in total; 1 for voting, 2 (with username visible) from different angles to prove 3D-ness and 1 WIP (with username visible) to prove you've made it yourself]

* Your username needs to be physically in the photo, either on a separate piece of paper or on the artwork itself [as long as it's covered up for the voting photo]. Digitally adding your username cannot be used as proof that you've made the art piece.

you can also film yourself when working on it, but photos work well enough

Please submit your finished creations through PM only.

Deadline
The deadline is May 14th, 23:59
The winners will be chosen by us, the staff, based on quality
The winners should be revealed a week later, May 21st

It was fun making a Pokemon-themed craft which gradually decreased my bored-mood...
It was very fun making it. Slowly-slowly adding your feeling in the craft, feeling like it would any-time stand and will start moving... ;P

A question just to confirm this:
Since felting is coloured wool stabbed by a needle until being 3D solid, are we allowed to use it?

I understand that I can't use an official in the final product, but can I use one as a reference?

You mean like using a pokémon plushie to make that same pokémon out of clay?
[where the plushie would be used to make sure you get proportions and such correct]

Question: how are you supposed to prove that a needle felting thing is yours, and follow up question, are we allowed to use multiple needle felted things for the contest in the same picture?

1. The same way you'd prove it for anything else. Does needle felt eat paper, which would make this harder?

2. Of course! As long as you follow procedure and show all needle felting is done by you, you can show more than 1 in your entry.

I just started making my entry with salt dough and I think I added to much water. Here's a few tips for dealing with salt dough:
Cover it in tissue paper to make it less sticky and easier to paint
if you can't use a microwave or oven to dry it then you can try using a hair dryer
if you don't want it to dry up when while leaving it on the table then cover it with a bowl or something like that

It's been quite a while since the deadline now so is the staff not having an easy time deciding on a winner? are there any estimates as to how much longer it'll be until we can find out how the contest went?

It took a while for all Staffies to cast their votes, so I haven't been able to count all votes until recently. I should be able to announce something on Sunday or Monday (:

Due to several high-scoring, there's currently a vote to see if we could the main prize to more than 1 user. I'll make a separate post once I know the final decision!
