Besides, it's hard to drain a jugular when it's covered by leather and metal." He tipped his head back, revealing an intricate crossing of leather and chainmail.

Derek pulled his helmet off again, then picked up the goblet in front of him. Throwing his head back, he drained the mug in four large gulps. Slamming the mug down, he took a breath. "You might think about seeking a Blackguard outpost, see if they'll take you in and out some meat on those bones of yours. Maybe they'll clear that stutter out too." Derek chuckled, then beckoned for another refill from the tavernkeep.

Derek straightened his back suddenly, and Quinn seemed to pick up on that. The fox leapt onto his shoulder, sniffing the air. A quick, harsh sound shot through the air and Quinn leapt to the ground, examining every person carefully. Donning his helmet, Derek stood.
