The road was smooth and flat, the wheels turning over and over, in complete synchronization with the other vehicles that were traveling down the road. In the back of all three of the cars, three X-Loyalists, all in identical gray uniforms with Lazer-red masks sat on top of the wooden boxes, packed together carefully and tightly. Neat black letters warned that the contents of the boxes were fragile, and forbade anyone from handling the boxes recklessly. The simple words seemed to reflect a judging stare from Governer X, although he was far away from the vehicles. The three trucks traveled in a simple yet effective formation down the closed road. The ride was long, but the only noises were the deep rumble of the cars and the crunch of gravel against the rubber tires. In the third car leading the group was the Diamond Leauge members who were assigned to the job. Where in the other two trucks were silent soldiers sitting on boxes were the alphas of this world, at least some of them. Bronx had somehow managed to score a seat in the front of the car, though he was starting to regret it. The bulky wings on his back kept him from sitting comfortably, so he was constantly leaning forward. There was a loud screech as the metal met the metal side of the door that caused him to wince. Thankfully, the cramped car was not hot enough that it was bothersome, but Bronx couldn't wait to leave the car. Bringing his knees up to his chest like a small child and balancing his chin on his arms, he stared out the slightly foggy window as they got closer and closer to the site
Dooley, Tazu, Derek,
The time was getting closer, and the tension seemed to fill the area. Dooley leaned against the wire fence, though it slightly cut into her. Dooley didn't mind, it wasn't that painful. Plus, she had bigger things to worry about. Like the ambush. It was simple, just destroy the weapons and bring back a sample for study. Though she had a feeling that there was going to be bigger things to worry about..Dooley shook her head, her ponytail slapping her neck as she sighed. In one hand, she gripped the smoke bomb. The smooth plastic cover felt good against her rather callused hand from years of handling tools. She brought it up, tracing the lines with her finger. Dooley couldn't say that she didn't like fighting. After all that the horrible system had done to her, it felt good to get revenge. But she wished that things could be like they were before-maybe even back before the wars that had narrowed down the world to just this one place. She didn't take her eyes off of the bomb, though she did hear the sounds of Xaiven's jogging, and the twins playing one of their weird games that no one could understand. Dooley always kept track of her surroundings. She watched Xaiven's methodical jogging around the area, feet hitting the ground. He once told her that jogging was the only way that he kept sane before a mission. Each to his own, Dooley supposed. With one hand still gripping the smoke bomb, she reached in her pocket for a peice of gum, popping it into her mouth and letting the sweet burst of flavor cover her tongue. They were coming, and soon. She had to be ready. Dooley chewed, blew a bubble and popped it once. Dooley would do whatever it took to get that sample.
Do you know what lies beyond?
Do you want to?
Or has your curiosity reached a nervous end?
Bronx was staring at the road listlessly when he suddenly saw two figures standing in the middle of the road. "Hey, stop the truck! There are people out there!" The X-Loyalist driving the car slammed his foot into the brake, sending the both of them careening forward and slamming into the dashboard. There was the hurried sound of the other two cars stopping as well when they realized that the car was coming to a halt. Bronx rubbed his chin that had hit the car, and slowly removed the leather seatbelt that had held him back from seriously injuring himself. He stepped out of the car, looking around and with a loud clunk, stretched out his wings to their full extent.
