So as far as I understand it, the only way to get a spiky eared
pichu was if you got the yellow forest map upgrade from the pika
event. The thing is, I can't remember if I completed that event or
not, and I have been trying for quite a while to get a spiky eared
pichu from sending my rumblers to the yellow forest, but haven't
got one yet. So I was wondering if there was a way to tell whether
or not I have the upgraded version of the map, so I know if it's
worth still sending my rumblers or not.
Unfortunately, there is no way to tell.
If you finished the Pika-event, you got the update, but there's no
way to tell afterwards if you got it or not.

Oooh, thanks Finny! Yeah, I did get the Narichu so I must have the
upgrade. I guess I've just had some bad luck with it. Oh well, time
to resend my little yellow rumblers again.
When it first came out, some people were convinced it was bugged,
because it took that long for the Spiky-eared one to show up. I'm
sure the 'chu will show up, eventually (:
