Leaf smiled small and took the bowl with a tired "Thank you." Taking small bites to avoid upsetting her stomach again.

Fern poked her head above Leaf's bed. "I helped."

Leaf chuckled a bit and ruffled her sister's hair. "I know you did, thank you Fern." For a while there was slicence as Leaf ate, but Harlow saw from the corner of her eye what appeared to be Thyme's ghost just watching the scene silently from the corner of the room. There was a breif moment where Thyme met Harlow's gaze and there was a look in Thyme's eyes of unmistakable pain and longing, Leaf was living and Thyme was forced to watch as her sister got to do things that she couldn't. Before Harlow could question Thyme she was gone. Leaf finished the bowl of broth and set the bowl aside to rest.

Harlow couldn't help but feel bad for Thyme. But there wasn't anything that she could do to help Thyme's situation. Call her selfish, but she wouldn't want Thyme to take the light again. She puts this out of her head and turns back to Leaf. She kisses for forehead. "Get some rest honey" she whispers to Leaf.

"That's great. So you run off to find someone who ends up being just fine. Let me break a rib under a falling tree and ended up helping no one." Emmie snarls at him, not feeling sympathetic at all. "Leaf and Harlow are fine." she spats the last word from her tongue like its bile. "I have a few weeks to live. Maybe a few months at the best." she hisses. "Its because of you-" she breaks off, hacking and coughing.
His smile has a grip on me <3

Chakti slammed his fist against the glass, an audible crack resonating around the area. His hand was mutilated after that, but he didn't seem to notice. "I SAID I WAS SORRY DAMMIT!" He let his hand drop, not noticing the minuscule crack he'd managed to leave on the glass. He calmed himself, then, "Guard, call for a medic. Emmie needs medical attention. Now." Seeing the guard's hesitancy, he shouted, "NOW!" The guard rushed off, muttering a few things. Chakti sighed, then collapsed on the bed again, still not feeling the pain of the newly annihilated hand.

Emmie's eyes were wide with fear. Her legs buckled out from under her. The hacking cough got worse. Her face began to turn red. On her hands and needs, she collapses, her eyes roll back into her head and the sound stops. So does her breathing. Something shadowey seems to be around her head, upon taking a closer look, it is smoke, exiting Emmie's lungs. Unfortunately, there is more.

Chakti stood up again, muttering, "No no no.." He tried to kick the door open, although to no avail. He tried to break the glass again, again to no avail. He placed his hands on his head, hearing a sickening pop from his left hand. He didn't bother to look, he just kneeled down, placing his hands on the glass. He closed his eyes, whimpering a little, begging that damned guard to hurry.

The coughing starts to start again, wracking Emmie's shoulders with horrid noises, each breath she takes could be her last. She curls up, letting out yet another horrible cough.

Leaf curled up and fell asleep. Fern tryied to crawl in with her sister but Harlow scooped her up, making Fern whine. "But I wanna snuggle with my sister!"

Fern pretended to pout and puffed her cheeks out. "Fine." Fern picked up Willow, was trying to crawl and held her in her arms. "I'm going to take Willow and go for a walk, I'll be back."

Chakti listened, then looked up, seeing the guard come back with a few medics. The quickly placed Emmie on a stretcher, carrying her away back to the infirmary. One last medic promised Chakti she'd be alright, then stopped short. "Your hand! You broke the other one too?!" Chakti noticed it, then nodded slowly. "S-sorry, doc.." The guard let him out of his cell a day early, just to have his hand checked. Upon seeing the x-rays, the current doctor nearly screamed. "How did you do that, kid?" Chakti kept his eyes closed. " Do what? "

Fern nodded and carried her niece down some halls and found a room full of humming birds. Willow, being very curious of the fast flying colorful birds, reached her hands out trying to grab them and whining when she couldn't reach them. Fern just chuckled at Willow, the two stayed their until Willow started fussing. "What? Are you hungry?" Willow's fussing settled down some. "Alright, I'll take you back to mommy." Hearing "mommy" Willow perked up some and cooed at Fern.

Fern walked back down the halls with a slightly fussy Willow when a hand grabbed Fern's arm and jerked her around. Fern gasped out. "What? I thought you were-"

"Dead?" Fern's mother asked unclasping something form around her neck while her dad grinned. Fern continued to struggle as Fern's dad took baby Willow from Fern, until Fern's mother started swining the pendent from around her neck in front of Fern's line of sight. Fern wanted to look away but something held her gaze there, she felt really tired.

"Now, listen to me Fern. You and. . .the baby are coming with us. Got it?" The mother asked in a silken sweet tone, still swining the pendent in front of Fern.

"Yes ma'am . . ." Fern responded dully, like the life had been sucked out of her.

"No Fern, it's 'yes mom' or 'yes mother.' Understand?"

"Yes mother."

"Good." Fern's mother replaced the necklace around her neck and looked at her husband. "Shall we find Leaf adn reclaim her?" Her husband nodded and the wife chuckled, when she put her hands on Fern's shoulders, Fern didn't struggle.

"Excuse me!" Gran calls from behind them. She smiles sweetly at the young couple, her jaw tightening ever so slightly when she notices Willow in the dad's arms. "What do you think you are doing with my grandbaby and daughter?"

"Taking them back. They are, like Leaf, ours by blood." The mother responded with fake sweetness. "So, if you'll be so kind to point us in the right direction to our daughter Leaf we'll be on our way."

Gran straightens up and crosses her arms. "I'm sorry... but I can't do that. They are actually my kids now and I don't intend on giving them up so easily. Especially to people like you" she says the last part with disgust, as if they were a piece of dog poop on her shoe. "Now... I am going to ask you this once, and only once. Would you give my grandbaby back to Fern, then leave?" It may be a question, but she demands it.

"Your arm.. It's completely shattered! What did you punch this time? And this hard? Chakti.. We need to amputate this I think. There's no way we can heal this." Chakti says up, his eyes bulging. " P-pardon? You'll have to take it off?! But.. I need my arm! You-" he cut himself off, waving his newly healed rights hand. "I'm afraid it won't do you any good. It's completely shattered, Chakti. We can get you a robotic replacement of you'd like.." Chakti looked blank for a second. " How long will it take? " "About two hours for the surgery. Maybe a few days afterwards for the replacement to be ready. Is that a yes, you want the arm?" Chakti nodded sadly. "I suppose so.. Start as soon as possible, would you? I want to visit Leaf soon." The medic nodded. " Of course. "

"And how dare you acuse us of being bad parents! We are excelent parents, unlike you, hag." Fern's mother sneered she then turned her gazed to Fern. "Right sweetie?"

"Yes mother." Fern mumbled.

"What a shame..." Gran mumbles. She slowly drops her purse on the ground, frowning from the dirt that'll get on it. "It's been a few years since I've done this..." she stretches her shoulders and neck. The joints popping as she does so. "I don't really want to do this in front of Fern and Willow..." she pulls on her fingers, which makes the knuckles pop. "But if I must... I will remove you by force.." she walks towards the couple, looking quite unafraid of them.
