I think it would be nice to have it where we could get a notification for when people @ us, whether it be in a feed, comment, or forum. This would make it easier for people to see replies directed towards them. Maybe there could be a way to turn off mentions in the Notification Settings as well if people don't want to see it in their notifications

The notification could look something like this:
Show hidden content


The "Read more" link could take you directly to the feed/comment/forum so you can see the reply. Maybe the one you're mentioned in could be highlighted or something

Edit: since I've seen this mentioned a few times, if you have a user blocked, they (obviously) wouldn't be able to ping/@ you

Edit 2: there could also be a way to toggle on/off @ing, such that only people you have added to your friendlist could @ you, everyone being able to @ you, or no one being able to @ you

this would be such a useful feature and would make it so we didn't have to subscribe to threads just to wait for a response and then unsubscribe after we got that response. it makes a lot of sense, too.

This would be so helpful! Sometimes I forget to subscribe to a thread, or just don't want constant notifications from it for no reason. This would really help clear up some clutter. I have seen this used on other sites before and I absolutely love it! It really helps to have that reminder on something you might've forgotten that somebody else was waiting on.

This would be so helpful to when you are replying to someone else’s feed and they mention you, since you can’t exactly get a notification for when someone replies

The only thing I could think against is being SPAM-tagged/not wanting being tagged, which you already mentioned. If there were a way to disable being tagged or limit who can/can't tag you, it's definitely got my support. :)

@imagine I imagine blocked users wouldn't be able to @ you, so that could help avoid spam tagging from certain users. Maybe an additional option for only those added to your friend list being able to @ you could be added, although I feel like that's a bit excessive, but still an idea🤔

I've long wished for something like this on this site. It would make things so much easier for following conversations and answering questions when someone's asked for help, etc.

full support to this! it will come in handy when replying to the comments on your feeds. the only downside i see would be if people you have blocked could @ you, as long as they can't i'm totally cool with this idea! 🙆🏽‍♀️

No, it wouldn’t; there are many other places to talk. Plus, @ing people would work ONLY if there was an @ before your username, so if they just typed ‘Sabastian’ then nothing would happen. Sadly nothing will stop people from taking bad about you or anyone else 😔

Same goes for @~TwilightPrincess~.

Edit: ah, I see, that was worded a bit poorly :P my point still stands for Sabastian, though.

I didn't really imply weather I want to see good or bad things about me in my post I only mean things in general some people want me to see also I didn't mean to write "then I can see what people say about me" I was thinking about something else at the time I meant to say something else altogether sorry for that
