Colour | noun
1. the property possessed by an object of producing different sensations on the eye as a result of the way it reflects or emits light.
In another realm, far from Earth, these 'sensations' stimulate the ability to use magic.
Not by everyone, however. Seven sensitives, nicknamed 'The Spectrum', are born around every hundred years.
They're easy to distinguish between others due to their eye colour. Whilst normal citizens have brown eyes, the sensitives are born with one of the seven colours, which also determines their magic type.

When wearing their quartz encrusted jewellery, sensitives are able to absorb energy from objects in their surroundings that match the colour of their eyes. Therefore, the more colour, the stronger the magic, but the quicker the sensitive will become drained and will need to rest. Whilst this is their primary ability, they also have a second that allows them to change the colour of an object by touch. Smaller objects are much easier to change colours completely, whilst larger ones may only partially change.
And then there are those born with Black eyes. They're cast aside from society due to their ability to drain colour, rather than generate. They, too, are able to use magic:dark magic. Despite being banished from the kingdom at birth, some are said to have survived and are now a part of a growing rebellion.
Recently, a tear in the realm has been discovered within the depths of the Dark Morass, leading to Earth. The black-eyed sensitives have already begun to cause havoc in the foreign lands and it's left up to the Spectrum to restore the colour.
But what if this was just a facade for a much greater plan?

They each have their own, personalised, quartz jewellery, given to them at thirteen years old when they first begin to practice their magic. The crystal glows in their corresponding colour when in use, but without it, their abilities become disabled.

Banished
at birth, The Void is a group of outcasts with the feared
black-eyes. They have the unique ability to drain objects of their
colour and leaving behind a greyscale canvas. The colours they
absorb may then be manipulated into all sorts of dark magic. Very
few are able to control their ability due to the lack of education
available to them.
