Prologue

The sun moved behind a cloud as the twin kits made there way to high tree. "Dark Omens" an elder muttered to another. The elders nodded. "Hush. These kits will be our light." Aquastar said, overhearing. "If you say so." they said. Aquastar lept on a branch let let out a cry. The two kit's looked up in fear. There ceremony began.

"Today we're sending you on solo hunting." Shadeclaw snarled at Voidpaw and Silverpaw. "Don't worry I'm sure you'll do fine." Sorrelstream reasurred them. Silverpaw nodded. Voidpaw met her mentor's gaze. "Let's begin then." she said. "You'll go to the midnight oak." Shadeclaw told Voidpaw. "You'll go to the river." he told Silverpaw. Voidpaw nodded, she headed to the midnight oak. The midnight oak was the darkest place in the entire forest. Voidpaw narrowed her eyes on a mouse. She lept at it and caught it. Voidpaw buried her catch and hunted around for more. "Watch out little one." a voice says from the shadows. Voidpaw turns, her claws extended. A back cat comes into view. "Ivyshade." Voidpaw says in fear. "Ah, so I see you've heard of me." the she cat said, brushing her tail upon Voidpaw's shoulder. "What do you want?" Voidpaw tried to say, but she was shaking. Every kit knew Ivyshade's story. The villainous she cat that killed her own leader. Voidpaw remained herself that she wasn't a kit anymore. "Thinking you can take on a dark forest cat little bug?" the black she cat sneered. Voidpaw's purple pelt bushed up. "I can take you any day." she said. "Not now you can't." Ivyshade said. "Let me show you a little something." within a few minutes Voidpaw was learning combat moves from the long dead Ivyshade. Voidpaw caught piles and piles of prey. She went back to the clearing with her catches. Shadeclaw smiled mysteriously at his apprentice. Silverpaw's eyes widened at all the prey. "So cool!" she said admiringly. "I think it's time they become warriors." Sorrelstream said. Voidpaw and Silverpaw exchanged looks of excitement. They head back. Voidpaw looked back and caught sight of Ivyshade in the shadows, urging her on. Voidpaw looked forward, smiling and not looking back.

"I name you Silverpelt." Aquastar said, touching Silverpelt's shoulder with her tail. The silver she-cat smiled and nodded respectfully. She padded back to her sister. Voidpool smiled. Silverpelt looked grateful. The twins she cats twined there tails and sat down for vigil. Silverpelt looks curiously at her sister. *How'd she do it?* she kept asking herself, referring to the piles of prey that Voidpool caught.
