The Magikarp wiki says that it's not possible to obtain the different patterns of Magikarp from eggs, as any eggs produced will only hatch into normal Magikarp. [x]

But the translucent egg icons beside the Pokémon names in the Pokédex imply that the individual patterns do have egg déx entries. [x]

As far as I'm aware the 2nd information is incorrect, in which case the egg icons

beside the various patterns of Magikarp should be removed.

If there is indeed a way to obtain the eggs for the above Pokémon, do let me know! o/

There isn't. If the 'normal' form can be obtained from an egg, that egg icon is always there, even if the 'special' form can't be obtained from an egg. This is also the case for Retro Tentacool, for example/

I just counted and it actually does. The count says 659, but you can't get more than 644 Eggs, so the 15 non-egg basic pokémon [retro tentacool, 3 retro birds, 11 Magikarp patterns] make it impossible to complete the Egg Dex.

Guess I won't be moving this to 'solved' anytime soon (':

Many of the Retros which do not hatch from eggs do count egg dex entries.
