I looked, and the Wiki or searching the forms didn't give me anything. When you use the enigma in the tall grass, how do you tell if you're going to get Latias or Latios? I only need Latios so I don't want to use the stone and end up getting the other one.

You don't, it's random. You can't decide whether you'll get Latios or Latias. If you start the hunt, the site will randomly decide the egg and there's no way of knowing which it is.
