The New Paladins (Voltron sign ups)
Forum-Index → Roleplay → RP Sign-up → The New Paladins (Voltron sign ups)The Paladins have retired, either back to Earth or wherever they felt they could settle down, and passed on their mantles to the next generation of Paladins. These new Paladins now find themselves fighting alongside the Galra Empire to end a rebel faction of Galra who wish to return to the old ways when Zarkon was Emperor. The fact that they have gotten a hold of Haggar and Lotor's research and begun experimenting on others only raises the stakes. It's beginning to look like this war will never truly end...

You do not have to be a child of the
Paladins or other Canon characters; all are welcome
I realize that there is no swearing in Voltron, but let's be honest; they're in a war and there will be swearing. Just keep it PG-13
Blood and gore are acceptable, but again keep it PG-13
Please, no one-liner posts. I get that writer's block is a thing, I get it too, but one-liners leave little for others to play off of
No powerplaying! Seriously, it's just infuriating. (I haven't actually seen a lot of that here, but I've been dealing with it on other sites and it's really starting to get on my nerves)
LGBT+ characters are okay. If anyone decides to be an asshole to those who choose these characters, we will be having words.
This is based off the current run of Voltron in case you didn't catch that, just fyi
Not all characters have to be Paladins. If you're unsure what kind of role you can take, come talk to me
You can create alien species if you want, but if you wish to create a character of a species someone else has created, talk to them first to make sure you understand the race
Please only one Paladin per person; there's a limited number and I don't want one person to control them all

His Wings
Full Name: Rhyder Aleus Kerozen
Nickname(s)?: Rhy, Rhyds
Age: 26 (19 in human years)
Gender: Male
Species: Hybrethaen
Sexuality: Hetero (Has a wife in fact)
Body modifications?: He was born without his left arm, but has a metal arm similar to the Winter Soldier from the MCU. He has a tattoo on his right wrist above the pulse point. It's an infinity symbol made up of his name and his wife's name, Ashland, written in the ancient Eurana alphabet, an ancient Hybrethaen tradition
Scars?: He has a brand on the back of his neck which says that he is a fire wielder (Again in the ancient Eurana alphabet with a single flame above it)
Height: 6'.5" (His wingspan is roughly the same length)
Personality: Rhyder tends to be the strong and silent type, though he's very affectionate with those he knows. He often has to watch himself though as Hybrethaens are a naturally affectionate race and most others find it strange when he cuddles up with them or holds their hand. He especially has to keep himself from greeting others in the typical Hybrethaen fashion of touching foreheads.
Rhyder is a very level-headed individual, though he has a tendency to lose focus when he's bored. The easiest way to keep him focused, aside from speaking directly to him and asking him for responses and input, is to hold his hand and just mess with it, keeping it in movement throughout the conversation. He hates this though because it makes him feel as if he's distracting others and he doesn't like to hinder people.
He can be incredibly sarcastic and he loves to prank others. He's incredibly skilled at not getting caught, too. No one can ever prove that he was behind anything because he's great at hiding his tracks and has an amazing poker face.
Backstory: Rhyder was born to Alexara and Jaxton Kerozen around the time they were attacked by the Galra, not long after the Paladins returned. Eurana and her people had been holding out for centuries against the Empire, but they'd never had to deal with a Robeast before. They were bombarded for nearly a year before Voltron came to their rescue. When the dust settled, many of the Hybrethaen lay dead, leaving thousands of young Hybrethaen as orphans, including young Rhyder. The orphanages were overrun with children whose parents were either dead or missing.
Unfortunately for Rhyder, fire-wielders were widely mistrusted and hated by their fellow Hybrethaen. He was abused and left to starve for weeks before his cousin, Alix, finally found him and rescued him. Being only a decade or so older than him, she was unable to gain custody of him, so she brought him to the Temple of Rojan, their god of fire. There, Rhyder was raised by the head Priestess, Yulan, and met her daughter and his future wife, Ashland. When he came of age, 16 (11 in human years), he joined the Hybrethaen military and rose up to the rank of Hunter in Chief. Basically, he and his team were the elite force who would go after the worst of Eurana's criminals, especially off-world.
When Voltron was in need of the next generation of Paladins, he went on the urgings of his cousin and his wife. His role as Hunter in Chief was passed on to his wife when he was claimed as the Blue Paladin.
Role/Job: Blue Paladin (Also Eurana's Hunter in Chief whenever he is needed, though Ashland has things well in hand)
Unique Abilities?: Pyrokinesis
Weapon?: A scimitar, similar to the one his father used to wield
Family?: Alix-older cousin; Ashland-Wife; Yulan-Adopted mom; Jaxton and Alixara-Birth parents (Deceased)
Full Name: Aiko Jin
Nickname(s)?: AJ
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Sexuality: Bisexual
Body modifications?: None
Scars?: None yet
Height: 5'6"
Personality: AJ is not a people person; she's never entirely sure how to act around people. Despite all this, AJ is a very touch-oriented person, whether it be hugs, cuddles, hand holding or shoulder touches; she craves it all. So, when she feels close to someone, she does her best to show it through these kinds of touches. AJ is also a very bold person, never really taking no for an answer. To her, the answer is always yes; it's just a matter of figuring out how to do it. She also doesn't take too kindly to being ordered around. but is smart enough to realize when she should keep her mouth shut and just do as told.
Backstory: Born Aiko Jin to Maiko and Akio Jin, AJ had a pretty normal life until she was 7. Her father was a lawyer and her mother worked as a communications liaison for a multinational technology company. At the age of 7, AJ lost her father to a slow battle with a brain tumor. She and her mother were understandably heartbroken, but they soldiered on. 2 years later, Maiko met Jason Queen, an American, during a board meeting. Actually, Jason had been working there for the last 3 years as an Investment Manager and the two had seen each other occasionally over that time. The two hit it off rather well and were married just a year later. It took a while for AJ and Carson, Jason's son, to come together, mostly because AJ is such a closed off person. Carson was persistent, however, and they started bonding over video games. It was around this time that Carson started calling her AJ and she found she actually liked the nickname. The two have been close ever since.
When Voltron was looking for new Paladins, Carson convinced her that they should see if they could become Paladins. She reluctantly agreed and they headed off with the consent of their parents. Turns out neither was compatible with any of the Lions, but Carson talked them into staying in the Castle, AJ as a mechanic and Carson as a backup fighter
Role/Job: Mechanic
Unique Abilities?: None
Weapon?: She's training with a type of Ax, though she's also a great shot when needed
Family?: Jason and Maiko Queen-Parents; Carson Queen-Step brother
Full Name: Carson Joseph Queen
Nickname(s)?: Carse (usually just by AJ)
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Sexuality: Asexual
Body modifications?: None
Scars?: He has a patch of skin on the back of his head where no hair will grow because of a bad run-in with a coffee table when he was younger. It's not really noticeable unless you know it's there
Height: 5'8"
Personality: Carson is very level-headed, especially in stressful situations. That said, he is in no way a very serious person. He loves to make fun of his enemies, though it does serve tactical purposes as well. He's very loyal and dependable. He does what he says he will, no matter what it costs him. He always puts others first, whether it's his teammates or civilians or his family. He always has an open mind when it comes to planning and is very much an 'out of the box' thinker, whether it's with his knives, hand to hand, or just a simple trap. He'll use anything and everything. He's also really good at talking people up and getting them to agree to pretty much anything. No one really knows how or why this happens, but he's never tried to hurt anybody with it, so they just roll with it.
Backstory: Born in America, Carson and his father moved to Japan when Carson was just 7 because of his father's work. When he was 10, his father met Maiko Jin and the two were married before Carson turned 11. Carson now found himself with a new mother and sister, AJ. At first, he found it difficult to get close to AJ because she was such a closed-off person, but he eventually got past her walls and now they're inseparable.
When Voltron was looking for new Paladins, he convinced his sister to try to become Paladins, with the permission of their parents. They didn't end up being compatible with any of the Lions, but he convinced those in charge to allow him and his sister to stay on, her as a mechanic and he as a backup fighter.
Role/Job: Backup fighter
Unique Abilities?: None (unless you count his ability to 'manipulate' people)
Weapon?: He's pretty good at throwing type weapons, though he's got his battle cruiser
Family?: Jason and Maiko Queen-Parents; Aiko Jin-Step sister
