Cold. That was all I could feel. Numbing, burning-hot cold, as if I had decided to go for a walk on a snowy mountain in just my tank top and shorts. It was so cold, my eyes were frozen shut, and I could barely move. When I did manage to move an inch, snow would fill my previous spot. It was a miracle that I could even breathe. Only one part of me wasn't buried: my tail.

Now, I've never had a tail before, but I'm certain you don't just grow one overnight. I could hear, very muffled due to the snow, a crinkling sound coming from that direction. It sounded like tin foil blowing in the wind, which wasn't far off in this case.

Oh, remember when I said it was a miracle that I could breathe? Losing oxygen now. Goodbye, cruel world...

Huh?

I hear muffled scraping. Is someone digging me out? They better hurry, or they're wasting their energy.

The digging gets closer. How far down was I? Only Arceus knows...

Then, I'm out. Someone is dragging me out the rest of the way by my arm. Only then do I pass out.

I wake up, and apparently it's morning. I'm in someone's bedroom. There's two beds, counting the one I'm lying on, and everything is in varying shades of blue and white. Something I notice it that the doors don't have knobs. While I look around, not wanting to get up at that moment, said door opens. A shiny Glaceon with emerald green eyes, wearing a light blue scarf, walks in. She smiles at me, clearly shy. And then she speaks.

"Um, h-hi... I'm Silver, the one who s-saved you in the blizzard?"

Once I get over the shock that came from hearing a talking Pokemon, much less one with different-colored eyes, I respond.

"Hi. Why am I here? No offense, I just..."

Could I even be more of an idiot? She shakes her head.

"None taken. You're at my h-house right now, until we can find you a place to live. That is, if y-you don't already have one..."

Of course I have a house, but that depends on where we are. It doesn't seem like we're in Unova. I'd think I'd know if there was a green-eyed Glaceon walking around.

"I don't think so, so we'll have to get used to each other, yeah?"

She giggles. "I'd hope so. Can you tell me your name?"

My name? I stare off into space, like an idiot, and finally notice my reflection in the mirror. I'm a Leafeon, but the leaves are an autumn orange, coincidentally my favorite color. The brown color on my paws, eyes, and ears is almost chocolate rather than dark tan, and the yellow color that makes up the most of my body is paler. Only then do I remember my name: Kimberlee, or Kimber.

No, Kimber sounds too plain a name. I think for a moment.

"My name is Tikaia."

Her eyes widen, and all traces of shyness fly out the window. "Tikaia? That's a beautiful name! It really suits you. Anyways, do you need help getting up, or do you just want to eat in here?"

"There's food? Are you telling me there is food? And I can eat it right here, on this impossibly comfortable bed? Yes, please!"

Did I say that out loud? She giggles again. "You'll have to sit on the floor, since the wagon can't be put up there. Stay here, and I'll be back in a moment..." Don't have to tell me that twice! She turns around and walks out of the room, while I look in the mirror again. Are all Pokemon here different colors, or is it just Silver and I? More importantly, how did I even turn into a Pokemon?

The door interrupts my thoughts, and Silver walks in with a little red wagon attached to her tail. I can feel my jaw drop, because on the wagon are pancakes, a glass of blue juice, and an apple. There's also syrup, as well as jars of peanut butter and strawberry jelly. How does she know me so well?!

"You act as though you've never had food before..." Silver says, giggling.

"Food is my everything, you don't even know!"

I climb off the bed, sitting on the floor next to the wagon of food. Then it hits me: there's silverware. How am I supposed to use silverware?

A tingling sensation at the sides of my neck answers me. Two long vines seemingly sprout from two spots on my neck. I move them around a bit, getting used to the feel, before assembling my pancakes.

"So, dumb question, but when is your birthday?" I ask, pouring syrup on my pancakes.

"October thirteenth..."

"You have my dream birthday? No way! Mine is October twenty-ninth. Pretty close to my favorite holiday, so I'm not complaining..."

"I like Halloween, too! We should definitely Trick-or-Treat together!" She pauses. "Well, I'm obviously keeping you from eating your precious food. We'll talk more later, okay?" She makes a move for the door.

"Wait!"

She turns back around. "Yeah?"

"I have to know, how did you find me in the first place?"

All the joy that previously took up her face left, and she thought for a moment. "The pressure from Dad got to me, so I took a break from the Guild to use the Icy Rock close to where you were, with help of the Articuno that resided there. I would have walked past you, if your tail wasn't sticking out of that snow pile. It was weird, because you weren't there on my way up, but it looked like you had been stuck for ages on my way down. I know Grass types have a disadvantage to Ice, but..." She sighs. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to get ready for work..."

She doesn't wait for me to say anything, turning back around and walking out the door.

What did she mean, I wasn't there on the way up? I shake my head. Don't think about that now, it's time to eat. I take a bite of food. If the mood was sour seconds ago, the flavors of the pancakes and juice, which I find is Oran berry, definitely help make it better.

After I finish eating, a Vaporeon with emerald-green eyes, though a shade darker than Silver's, comes to get the wagon and dishes. "Hello, Tikaia. I'm Silver's mother, Maynad. Did you like the food?"

I nod vigorously, and she laughs. "I'd hope so. I made it from scratch. And, before you ask, years of practice."

Well, duh. You think people make food this good after, what, a day? I want to question how she made the food, but seeing as how doors don't have knobs and open both ways, something I noticed with Silver, things like kitchen tools could be altered as well. That wouldn't explain the silverware, though, unless...

"Pardon for asking, ma'am, but what Pokemon is Silver's father?"

"Oh, are you asking because of the silverware? Well, my husband, and most of his family, are members of the Pichu evolution line, with him being a Raichu. Naturally, we keep silverware in the house for those who have the hands, or vines, to use them."

Thought so, but it doesn't hurt to ask. I watch as she attaches the wagon of dishes to her tail and walks out of the room.

Well, this has certainly been an eventful morning! Have a traumatic near-death experience, get my new housemate to possibly hate me, and still have several hours in the day left! I wonder, what else can go wrong today?
