I've heard of people making money from shiny hunting. It takes $50,000 to charge the batteries (assuming the other options aren't accessible at the time) so in order to make a profit, the pokemon must sell for at least $50,001... Preferably more. I got a shiny charizard and it went for $53,000. $3,000 is a profit, but it seems measly for having hatched 98 charmanders.
I noticed something odd about the wording on the pokeradar page. "It resets after your first shiny"... Does that mean that, if I get a shiny from chaining, that if I continue to chain that pokemon, it won't reset after my second shiny of that species ? I know English is not the first language of the site developer (ryoku? I can't remember his name for some reason) so I had figured it was a grammatical mistake.
Just in case it didn't make sense: say I am chaining pichu (chosen for short name, I'm tired) I paid $50,000 for the battery. I chain until I get my shiny, at which point the radar resets. If I pay the $50,000 again, and continue to hunt for pichu, would the radar reset after I catch another shiny? Or would it keep the charge until I hatched a Pokemon other than pichu? Thanks for any help in advance.

With the Normal Pokéradar, the chain will always reset after you hatch your first Shiny.
So if you were to hunt Pichu and you hatched a shiny at chain #40, it would reset back to 0 and you’d have to restart the entire chaining process and buy new batteries. The only way you would be able to continuously chain with the Pokéradar and not have to buy batteries is by having a Premium Upgrade.

If, for example, you had Premium and started a chain but your Premium expired after hatching a few shinies, your Pokéradar would reset once you hatched the first shiny once you’ve become a normal user again.

Also, in regards to shiny hunting for profit, I would recommend hunting shinies that aren’t commonly hunted. Really anything with a Mega Evolution is hunted quite often on PokéHeroes and ultimately has the value decreased regardless of its rarity. New Pokémon such as any of the new Alolan Pokémon would be better to hunt if you wanted to make profit.
