Limited trades
Forum-Index → Suggestions → Limited tradesAnd before it seems like I'm targeting one person, I've seen several people do this.
I would like to see a reasonable limit on how many active trades are allowed so that there aren't multiple pages filled with the same trade.
I am a mobile only player.
Edit:Okay, I pretty much spammed the GTS with 106 trades without reaching the limit, it should be safe to say there isn't a limit at all and if you do think there is, its probably deja vu. Even if there is, over 100 should still be too much, I was successfully able to bury anyone's trade. Thankfully, I took the trades out but I shouldn't be able to do that. There needs to be a limit.
People often think the PH sprites are bland. Do they shade? Well, yes they do. You'll be surprised how much care is taken for these sprites.
Please, I really can't stand this. Auctions have a limit, so should the GTS. In fact, I think the GTS should have a limit more so.
-[Idea to add onto this?] I find it annoying to have people consistently putting up and deleting the same spam trades when it hasn't even been 12 hours, as well. Not sure if a time limit would be a good idea, as well. Like you can't delete the trade once you put it up until X amount of time has passed?
i think a limit of 10 trades at a time / 50 total per day (private trades excluded) would help a lot here
im free for discussing other numbers than 10/50, its just an example what i think might fit here

if you want a cool sprite like mine!!
Maybe instead of having a limit of total trades, have a limit of trades that can be set up per [insert time unit here]. For example max. 3 trades per 5 minutes, 5 trades per hour, etc. - trade limits for 24 hours (speak: a day) won't do much as it will still not stop people from making an entire page spammed with one and the same trade, and a limit for total active trades defeats the purpose of the GTS, which is trading. If you're limited to having, let's say, 15 active trades, you'll run into problems eventually.
and the problem with 3 trades per 5 minutes might be, that you handicap users who set up like 10 trades once a day (which takes some space but isnt as annoying as users who set up trades again and again or who fill a whole page (or even multiple pages)
so 10 active trades at a time at max would stop users from filling whole pages and max 50 trades a day would stop users from setting up all the trades again every hour
Limiting trades is a great idea, but it can provide some disadvantages (such as forcing to cancel older trades to make room for new one - though most likely we will going to be used of this).
But what if instead of limiting the number of trades a user can have, those trades with the same description and items inside will be clustered as one bundle/ group, and when someone will be in need to offer something on that trade, he just need to open that group of trades and offer in any of the ff "subtrades".
You see, my point is that I, for example, tend to have more than 15 active trades - while I don't clutter the GTS normally, because I find it annoying as well.
My numbers were just examples anyways.
Say we have a limit of trades that can be set up per hour - for example, I will use my previously named number, 5 trades per hour. That means someone can set up 5 trades each hour - while yes, they can still "clutter" the GTS, it won't be whole pages. It will be a maximum of 5 trades that are right after another.
It won't handicap anyone either - if you want to set up more than 5 trades a day, just wait for like an hour to set up the next 5.
It will, again, also stop people from filling whole pages as they are limited, and the trades are normally sorted by the time they were set up. I'm sure that in that one hour you'd have to wait, there's other people setting up trades as well. No full page(s) of one and the same trade anymore, problem solved. That's what this whole suggestion is about.
Plus, irrelevant but, you can't exactly do 10 active trades at a time and 50 trades a day, since you are limited to 10 active trades. Unless you're assuming that you manage to complete these trades in order to set up 10 more trades in one day. Which isn't exactly what this is about.
1. the spam which fills a whole page (or multiple pages)
2. reposting trades again and again after just a really short time (like: oh my trades arent on page 1 anymore? lets repost!)
the limit of 5 per hour would limit users who arent as active on here and would not want to wait an hour for setting up their 10 trades as a whole. since those users arent a problem, i would not want them to be limited, thats why i try to go for a slightly different solution
according to your last paragraph: i mean users who take down their 10 (or any other number, that could be applied) trades and repost them every hour (or even more often)...50 trade total would limit that kind of spam too
beside that: i like the idea of ChydiZZy & RAZPberry to stack mutiple identical trades (like a user wants to set up 50 single dragon gems, because its easier to find a trading-partner for single dragon gems rather than for 50 at once) it could be one trade with a little number of the amount of trades next to a "+" which would not block the whole page
to all those who think this could be solved by a "palpad me to seperate": many users simply dont want to do that, which is why many users put up multiple identical trades
This trade limit should be limited to just public trades, so that gifts and private trades are unaffected. Private trades don't usually get spammed and neither do the gifts.
It is frustrating to see the same people day after day flooding GTS. There is no need for it whatsoever. 20 per day or 5 per hour is plenty. Rotate your posts. Don't bog/hog the system. It is rude and disrespectful of others. Yes we get it you need something but it isn't necessary to have 20+ trades for the same thing.
Full support from me.
