Helen Adams Keller (June 27, 1880 – June 1, 1968 ) was an American author, political activist, and lecturer. She was the first deaf-blind person to earn a bachelor of arts degree. The story of how Keller's teacher, Anne Sullivan, broke through the isolation imposed by a near complete lack of language, allowing the girl to blossom as she learned to communicate, has become widely known through the dramatic depictions of the play and film The Miracle Worker. Her birthplace in West Tuscumbia, Alabama, is now a museum and sponsors an annual "Helen Keller Day". Maractus!!


Biology: Maractus is a cactus-like Pokémon, with large ear-like extensions. These extensions feature dark green spiky arrangements at the base, yellow spikes further up, and flowers, with pink petals and yellow centers, at the top. It has a yellow spike on its head, yellow eyes and a spiky-looking mouth. Other dark green spiky arrangements adorn its neck, the wrists of its yellow-fingered arms, and base. Its base features further such green spikes arranged in a five-pointed star. When Maractus moves its body rhythmically, it emits sounds reminiscent of maracas being played. This allows Maractus to produce up-tempo songs and dances that it can use to scare away predators. Avian Pokémon in particular may try to feed on its flower seeds. Maractus live in arid regions and dry desert-like areas.

Three Maractus appeared in A Maractus Musical!, under the ownership of Toby. They performed in the Pokémon Performance Competition and were also used in a Triple Battle against Ash, where they battled Pikachu, Tepig, and Snivy. They were given the nicknames Marra, Racca, and Tussy.

Zygarde Event


The Gem Collector has been experimenting a lot with gems lately and found out that you can create a special Pokémon species by merging different gems with each other! So far he's already found out how to create Zygarde (Core) - but he'll surely discover more formes eventually! In order to unlock this quest, you need to spend at least 500 gems of any type on regular gem trades with the collector. After merging gems three-times, you unlock a new forme of Zygarde.




We just reached 100,000 registered members on PokéHeroes! (Right after our huge achievement of twenty million adopted Pokémon - what an awesome coincidence!) Pokemon of the Day




It's Froakie! #656

It evolves into Frogadier starting at level 16, which evolves into Greninja starting at level 36.

Froakie is a quadruped, frog-like Pokémon. It has light blue skin, white hands, and a dark blue stripe from the center of its oval head to its nose. Its eyes, which have yellow sclera, black irises, and white pupils, protrude vertically from its head due to their size. Froakie produces a large mane of bubbles from its chest and back and has two small bubbles on its nose. The delicate yet flexible bubbles, called Frubbles, reduce the damage Froakie takes from attacks. It has three fingers and two toes on its hands and feet. Despite its carefree attitude, it is vigilant of its surroundings. Froakie is both light and strong, making it capable of jumping incredibly high.

Ember is a Fire-type move first introduced in Generation I (Kanto). It deals Fire-Type damage and has a 10% chance of burning the target. Only 12 pokemon in Gen I can learn this move by leveling up.

Ability: Soundproof

Soundproof grants the Pokemon immunity to all sound-based moves, preventing all damage and effects. Only 3 pokemon from Gen I can have that ability: Voltorb, Electrode and Mr. Mime.

Pokemon Of the Day

Glalie!!


Biology: Glalie is a spherical Pokémon that consists of a black rock core covered by ice. The icy covering has several holes and spaces across this Pokémon’s body. Blue eyes and a mouth with flat teeth are visible through three of these holes. There are two large, black, conical horns on either side of Glalie's head.

Mega Glalie's jaw is dislocated because of the overwhelming energy, causing its mouth to extend to the length of its face. The lower jaw is all black except for two light-blue, conical, icy spikes. The pupils in Mega Glalie's eyes are now red instead of black. The horns on top Mega Glalie's head have been partially turned into ice, with the addition of a third horn on its forehead.

Glalie's icy body is actually rock that is not particularly hard. It does not melt, and it can control ice by instantly freezing moisture in the air into any desirable shape. This ability is used to drape itself in ice armor and freeze its prey, which it then consumes whole. It prefers consuming Pokémon like Vanillite that are already frozen though. It can be found in caves. Mega Glalie can spill endless blizzards from its broken mouth, though it gets irritated by the fact that it can no longer consume its prey.

Appearences:

Ash's Snorunt evolved into Glalie in Rhapsody in Drew. It only stayed during the Hoenn League. It is now at Professor Oak's lab.

Other
A Glalie appeared in The Drifting Snorunt!, under the ownership of a Poacher. The poacher used Glalie to assist in capturing a Snorunt, which it did by frightening it into submission. However, it was defeated by Ash's Chimchar and a wild Froslass.

A Glalie appeared in Survival of the Striaton Gym!, under the ownership of Morana. Its appearance was during a flashback to when it was able to defeat Cress's Panpour.

A Glalie that can Mega Evolve appeared in Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel, under the control of Levi's Mega Wave. Glalie was used to battle against Volcanion. It was later freed from Levi's control when Alva's Mega Wave Crystal was destroyed, and it escaped.

A Glalie appeared in the opening sequence of Lucario and the Mystery of Mew.

A Glalie made a brief cameo in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky - Beyond Time & Darkness.

A Glalie that can Mega Evolve into Mega Glalie appeared in Mega Evolution Special II.

A Trainer's Glalie appeared in Getting a Jump on the Competition!, where it was seen participating in the Pokémon Sled Jump Games.

Pokemon of the Day



Its Lumineon! #457

Lumineon is a fish-like Pokémon with dark blue scales. Its eyes are deep pink, and its face and eyelids are light blue. It has two pairs of large pectoral fins that resemble butterfly wings. These fins have wavy, light blue markings around the edges, and the lower pair is longer on the female. There is a band of light blue running vertically around its body. Its tail is long with a deep pink spot at the tip, and it has a pair of light blue pelvic fins.

Lumineon usually makes its home deep in the ocean, where it walks along the seafloor using the fins on its chest. This behavior helps it to avoid predators. Lumineon attracts its own prey by using the patterning on its wing-like fins, and typically competes with Lanturn for food. Lumineon preys on Starmie.



Easter is three days away and people are already rumoring what the new EVENT POKÉMON might be. Hmmm... do you have a guess?

PokéHeroes fifth anniversary is only two weeks away - and you all know what that means! It's finally getting summer time.

Our great community created 20 beautiful Easter Eggs in an exciting Spriting contest during the last few weeks. The fancy colored winner eggs have now been hidden carefully by cute Bunnelby in many different spots all around town!
As it's tradition in Emera Town, not only children search for Easter Eggs, but also motivated Pokémon Trainers. This year, when you find twelve eggs or more, you receive a special Event Item. And when you manage to find eighteen out of twenty, you get to claim a brand new Event Pokémon on April 2nd!

Pokemon Of the Day

Palkia!!


Biology: Palkia is a light purple theropod-like Pokémon with stripes and markings of a darker shade and gray underarms and waist. It has round purple-striped plates on its shoulder area, where two pink pearls lie encrusted with a gray rim encircling them and fins in their back. Palkia's arms have extended formations resembling gauntlets and a purple band around each wrist. Palkia has a long neck, a pointed white crest on the top of its head that extends to its wings, two strong horn-like tusks on the sides of its jaw, and a powerful tail. It has faint cracks along its legs and tail. As seen in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness, Palkia travels by creating a large yellow sphere from its two pearls, then using it to fly very fast.

Palkia has the ability to warp space, though it was said to create alternate realities as well. Palkia lives in a different dimension, making its behavior nearly impossible to study. However, Palkia has been seen in violent conflicts with its counterpart, Dialga. It has been known to be very protective of its home as well. Palkia is the only known Pokémon that can learn Spacial Rend.
Pokedex Entry: It has the ability to distort space. It is described as a deity in Sinnoh-region mythology.

Appearences:

Palkia made its physical debut in The Rise of Darkrai, where it fought with Dialga and Darkrai in a battle that nearly destroyed Alamos Town. It was then shown in a flashback in Giratina and the Sky Warrior. Palkia's final movie appearance was in Arceus and the Jewel of Life, where it was shown for the first time with both the other members of its trio. It joined forces with Dialga and Giratina to fight against Arceus.

Palkia appeared in The Battle Finale of Legend!, where it and Dialga were summoned by Cyrus on the Spear Pillar. They were put under his control through the use of the Red Chain and were tasked by him to open a portal to another dimension, wanting a world of his own. After the Red Chain's destruction and Cyrus's exit, Palkia and Dialga rampaged, creating a danger for Sinnoh. However, the two were calmed down and sent away with the help of the lake guardians.

Palkia appeared in Hoopa and the Clash of Ages as one of six Legendary Pokémon summoned and hypnotized by the shadow Hoopa Unbound as its reinforcements. It and its teammates engaged in a battle against the Latios, Latias, and Shiny Rayquaza summoned to protect the real Hoopa in Dahara City. Eventually, after the shadow Hoopa was sealed in a Prison Bottle, the hypnosis on Palkia and the other Legendary Pokémon was lifted, and Palkia departed for its home.

Zebstrika!


Zebstrika is a zebra-like Pokémon. Its coat is black with white, jagged stripes all over its body. There is one pointed stripe extending from its nose, two elaborate stripes on its neck and chest, one zigzag stripe each on its jaws, back, and hindquarters, one triangular stripe on each of its thighs, and two stripes banding each of its legs. Its ears are triangular with blue insides, while its eyes are blue with yellow sclera and white eyelashes. Its nose is black, and its hooves are gray. A white, spiked mane runs the length of its body, beginning with two horn-like extensions on its forehead and running down its back to end in a long tail with a starburst-shaped tip. This irritable Pokémon fires lightning bolts from its mane when angry. Zebstrika can move as quickly as lightning, releasing thunderclaps at full gallop.

Lumineon usually makes its home deep in the ocean, where it walks along the seafloor using the fins on its chest. This behavior helps it to avoid predators. Lumineon attracts its own prey by using the patterning on its wing-like fins, and typically competes with Lanturn for food. Lumineon preys on Starmie.

Appearences:

Zebstrika debuted in Reunion Battles In Nimbasa!, under the ownership of Stephan. It was revealed to have evolved from his Blitzle. In the next episode, it was used in a battle against Bianca and her Minccino, which it won. Later, during Strong Strategy Steals the Show!, it battled Ash and his Palpitoad, and the battle resulted in a tie.
A Zebstrika appeared in Enter Elesa, Electrifying Gym Leader!, under the ownership of Elesa. It defeated Bianca's Shelmet, Minccino, and Pignite during a Gym battle. Zebstrika reappeared in Dazzling the Nimbasa Gym!, during Elesa's Gym battle against Ash; it battled Ash's Palpitoad and lost.

Multiple Zebstrika appeared in the opening sequence of Black—Victini and Reshiram.
A Zebstrika made a cameo appearance in Cilan Takes Flight!.
A Zebstrika appeared in Crisis at Ferroseed Research!.
A Zebstrika appeared in Kyurem VS. The Sword of Justice, during the Swords of Justice legend.
A Zebstrika appeared in Jostling for the Junior Cup!, under the ownership of Simeon. It was seen participating in the Pokémon World Tournament Junior Cup, where it lost to Horatio's Cinccino in the first round.

Dragonite!!


Biology: Dragonite is a draconic, bipedal Pokémon with light orange skin. It has large, grayish-green eyes and a round snout with small nostrils. A pair of long, thin antennae sprout from the top of its head, with a small horn set between them. Its striated underbelly is cream-colored, and extends from its neck to the tip of its long, tapering tail. It has thick arms and legs ending in three claws each. The leg joints are well defined, while its arms have a smooth, rounded appearance. Dragonite's wings are small relative to its body, with teal wing membranes.

Despite its bulky build, Dragonite is capable of flying faster than the speed of sound. It can circle the globe in sixteen hours, traveling roughly 1,556 mph (2,505 km/h), or about three times the speed of an average airplane. A kindhearted Pokémon with human-like intelligence, Dragonite shows signs of altruism: it is said to save humans from drowning and lead lost or foundering ships to safety. As demonstrated in the anime, however, it will go on an uncontrollable, destructive rampage if its environment is threatened. Dragonite is very rare in the wild, typically living near the sea. Some claim that there is an island somewhere in the ocean that only Dragonite inhabit.

Diggersby!!


Biology: Diggersby is a bipedal Pokémon resembling a large, portly rabbit. Its most remarkable features are its two ears, which are each crowned with a massive, muscular forearm, complete with three-fingered paws. The ears are furry and mostly grey in coloration, with a pink inner pinna, whereas the paws at the ends of the ears are brown. Three spots of brown fur surround each of the ear-wrists. A pointed protrusion marks the outer elbow, hinting at the presence of bones inside the ear-forearms. These ears are strong enough to lift objects weighing over a ton and prove to be an invaluable asset in Diggersby's digging.

The other four limbs growing from Diggersby's round, grey torso are small in comparison to the ears. The fur of the upper paws is white, while the feet are brown. A sash-like band composed of thicker, wooly fur surrounds its waist, where it tends to tuck its paws in. This sash is sectioned brown on its sides and yellow at its front and back; its short tail is also yellow, protruding from the back section of the sash. Diggersby's face is dominated by a large brown muzzle, resembling stubble. Two large front teeth protrude from its wide mouth and three whiskers decorate each cheek. Its eyes are perpetually squinting and it seems to favor a slightly furrowed brow.

Pokedex Entry: Diggersby, the Digging Pokémon, and the evolved form of Bunnelby. Diggersby can easily lift a boulder weighing over a ton with its powerful ears.
