Hi there, this is a part from my schoolwork (we have to write a novel) and I was wondering what people think! Without further delay, here it is!

"Come on, babe, don’t be such a scaredy cat!" Emily teased as she grabbed Lilith's hand, who continued to pout despite the obvious comfort the gesture had for her. "It's just a little ghost hunting. No big deal."

"No big deal?" Lilith scoffed. "I swore to myself I'd never mess with this stuff, and yet here I am. Even if I'm with my beautiful girlfriend," Lilith saw a smile break onto Emily's face and she returned it, "I still am going to be a little scared. What if we make them mad?"

Emily shrugged before she spoke. "Then we run. There's no harm in a little game, right? We don't even have to use the board, I can do that later by myself."

Lilith shook her head immediately, squeezing Emily's hand lightly. "Uh-uh. If you're going to be dumb, I'm going to be there to make sure you don't die."

Emily laughed at that, and Lilith swore her heart still skipped when she heard that twinkling sound. "Even better!" She leaned over to kiss Lilith on the cheek, almost missing and getting a mouthful of hair. "Love you. Now let's go be dumb!" She pumped her free hand into the air as a fist, and Lilith couldn't help but roll her eyes. She really did have a dork for a girlfriend, but honestly? She was madly in love.

Emily paused in front of the gate, letting Lilith inspect the area and take a few deep breaths to calm herself. It looked like something straight out of a horror movie, but really, what cemetery didn't hold that sort of air about them? There are dead people there!

This one was one of the infamous in the town, mainly for its worn down look and the way the street hung down with heavy tree branches, shrouding the place in darkness like a blanket. Even the gravestones, the one's Lilith could see without a light, seemed worn. She put her hand gently on the black metal fence, flinching as it creaked a warning. "Let’s do this before I change my mind."

Emily was, naturally, the first to take action, climbing over the gate with the years of experience making it seem almost effortless. "I did this a lot as a kid." Emily explained when she got a surprised look from Lilith. "I was waiting to share the activity with someone special."

Lilith felt her face flush, from both the cold and the compliment, but that quickly faded when she became preoccupied with trying to clamber over the gate. In the end she got over, though admittedly less graceful as Emily, immediately clinging to her girlfriend like a lifeline as soon as she realized what she had done.

She had trespassed into a graveyard, presumably haunted, at night.

She was going to regret this, and she knew it.

"Okay, now what?" Lilith managed to ask, her nervous mind making her aware of every movement around them, and feel as of the air was colder- at least, she wanted to believe it was her mind.

"I...probably should have grabbed the board when we were still in the car." Emily said, causing Lilith to snort in amusement. "But I got the next best thing!" In a fluid movement, Emily reached from around her neck and removed her necklace.

Lilith raised a brow. "A necklace?"

Emily nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah! We got lucky and there's no wind tonight, at least not a lot. We can use this method instead. Let's go find a nice grave."

Lilith grimaced at how casually she said the last part, but nevertheless followed her to the grave that she chose, someone named Sarah Hooper. 1942-1980.

They sat down in the grass beside the grave, Emily then holding the necklace in front of her like a pendulum. She helped it stop swinging before she looked at Lilith. "Ready?"

"As I'll ever be." Lilith sighed, nerves swirling in her brain like frozen yogurt out of a machine...she was really craving frozen yogurt. Maybe she could convince Emily to get some after they got through this.

"Okay, so, swing back and forth for no and in circles for yes, okay ghost person?" Emily paused and waited, and the necklace began to move in circles moments later. Lilith fought with all of her willpower to keep from scrambling away.

Emily stopped the necklace with her hand before asking another question. "Are you a boy?" They waited again, and this time to necklace charm swung back and forth. Lilith scooted back a little bit, swallowing hard.

"Holy crap."

Emily glanced at her, a mischievous twinkle in her eye. "So are you a girl?"

The necklace was still for a moment before it moved in circles once more, causing Lilith let out an exhale of breath. Emily looked at her, grinning even wider now. "You wanna try?"

After a moment's hesitation, Lilith nodded. She let herself draw in a breath before exhaling it loudly, along with her question."Did you die here?"

The necklace began to shake, bobbing up and down as it did so. Lilith scrambled away, a cry leaving her lips. Even Emily seemed a little scared. She stopped the necklace. The whole area was suddenly freezing, Lilith noted, and her stomach fell along with the degrees.

"Okay, ghost, we're just going to...go now. Goodbye." Emily quickly put the necklace on her neck, reaching out and grabbing Lilith's hand before whispering. "Run."

They both ran, like deer from a terrifying hunter, Emily hopping the gate and then immediately helping Lilith over. They retreated, horrified, to Emily's worn red truck, ignoring it's groan of annoyance as their weight returned into the vehicle.

As soon as they were inside, Emily let out a sigh of relief. "That...was messed up." She said after a moment of regaining her breath. Lilith let out a nervous laugh.

"We should get out of here. Frozen yogurt?"

Emily grinned once more. "Never agreed with anything more."
