Alex heard Marius, turning on his heel and looking up at
the taller boy. "Oh jeez," he mumbled, feeling kinda bad, "hey.
Hey, you're okay. It's okay. Shhh..." He cooed to the other,
whispering soft words and reassurance as he gently placed his hands
on the other boy's shoulders and rubbed them. Eliza uncovered her
eyes as she heard Fox walking off, albeit hesitant in her motions.
She sighed softly, glancing at Alex and Marius. Alex was pretty
good at calming people down, considering how much he had to do it
for himself. "It's alright, it's alright..." He continued softly,
staring up into the other's eyes with reassurance gleaming in his
irises.
Marius took several shakey breaths, doing his best to focus on
Alex's words. "O-okay I just." He sighed, letting his arms drop to
his sides and focus on his breathing. His hair was mussed, a few
stray clumps of curls falling in his eyes from being combed through
with his fingers. "I'm sorry." He said, rubbing the tears out of
his eyes. "I just really, cant handle fire."
Fox finds a trail, leading to what looks like a small town. He
follows it, finding logic in his ideas. I guess this time to
split up has come. I hope you all understand, but if we stay
together then those who seek to steal are power will succeed.
Alex smiled, hands still soft on the other's shoulders.
"Hey, that's okay. I, personally, am extremely scared of
thunderstorms and being sick. Hypochondriac is what this dweeb
calls me," Alex gestures to Eliza with a tilt of his head, "She's
scared of blood, and extremely scared of spiders." He said, trying
to get onto another topic. "One time, I was stuck with a very sick
Eliza in our room during a storm and I was freaking out and
basically pressed against the wall to keep away from her. It was an
experience." The two laughed lightly at the memory.
"Oh jeeze, that must've been awful!" Marius said. "Little ironic
that she's scared of blood considering she's a healer though." He
smiled, glad for the distraction against the turbulent storm raging
in his mind. He liked Alex, he was kind and honestly, a bit funny.
"Yeah, it's funny. I just wanna get all that fixed up
before there is more. Could never be a normal nurse, ha." Eliza
quipped, laughing lightly. Alex nodded. "Plus, when I was a kid I
got sick soooo much. My immune system was a piece of garbage, so I
still get sick a lot. I know way too many facts about medical and
sick things just so I don't get sick oops." He laughed, rubbing the
back of his neck. "Not to mention we grew up in a place where it
was hecka stormy and it had tornadoes when I was little and just
the sirens and the fear? It's crazy." He smiled softly, almost
sadly.
"I've always lived by the sea, so I guess I'm just used to storms
and thunder like noises?" Marius said, "I can see the fear in it
though, nature is powerful. More powerful than anything really."
Fox goes into the town, and sees a person lying on the ground,
looking very hungry. He walks over to them, gives them some food
from his pack, and continues walking. He sees that this town has a
very bad economy, but he continues, being incapable of helping them
at the moment. He goes through the small town, and walks through
the woods, looking for signs of people. He stops at the edge of a
river, and looks upstream, seeing a city. He goes it it, and looks
around the edge of it.
Alex just nodded for a moment. "He's also afraid of moths."
Eliza chirped, making Alex's face go bright red. "I didn't tell him
that for a reason!" Alex whisper-screamed, his voice and eyes and
his whole expression filled with tense embarrassment and
flusteredness. Eliza giggled, letting out a little "oops".
Marius giggled. "Aw, you poor thing. You must avoid bright lights
at night then, dont ya?" He smiled, ruffling Alex's hair slightly.
"Doesnt really fit your bad boy aesthetic, now does it."
Alex's face was fifty shades of red at this point, staring
at the ground. He looked up at Marius' comment, giving an
embarassed, pouty look. "Ngh, it doesn't help the aesthetic." Eliza
leaned in, whispering a question into his ear. "N-n-no! You can
tell him that! That's worse than the moths!" Alex cried, running
his hands through his hair anxiously. Eliza giggled.
"Oh, do tell!" Marius said, leaning towards Eliza. "More
incriminating knowledge on this boy who is far too attractive for
his own good? amazing." He grinned devillishly.
"Eliza I swear to god I wi-" He tried to sound threatening,
but his voice was more begging. Eliza quickly cut him off, though.
"He's scared of the dark." She said with a huge grin that made Alex
let out a long whine, buring his face in his hands. "Whyyyyy?!" He
moaned against his palms, the tips of his ears red as heck. Eliza
cackled.
"Oh. Oh my goodness!" Marius grinned. "No joke?" He asked Alex, a
little incredulous. "This isnt a 'oh we're siblings we're gonna
pull a fast one on this dude we just met'? This is a genuine youre
scared of the dark??" Marius rambled, placing his hands on Alex's
shoulder's and looking where his eyes would be were it not for his
hands in the way. "You cannot under any circumstances wear that
much black and be afraid of the dark."
Fox finds a bunch of copper wires lying around, and picks them up.
Itd be a shame if these went to waste, they’re so shiny, maybe
if I use the river I can try to Smith them into a flimsy weapon I
can use in case I need to be able to fight somebody who isn’t
affected by my fire. He puts them in his pack, compressing them
a lot.
"there's a difference between black and the dark..."
Alexander mumbled. "He sleeps with a nightlight. And makes me close
his closet doors for fear of monsters attacking him in his sleep.
Oh, and he has three stuffed animals. JoJo, Max, and Hercules."
Alex tossed his head back and let out a noise of anguish. "STOP
TALKING!! BEEP BEEP ELIZA!" After reading It together, the siblings
used the phrase 'beep beep' to mean shut up. Eliza continued her
laughter, and Alex shook his head. His face and ears were red, the
flush even leading down his neck a bit.
"Look, Alex, you know how you can back at Eliza?" Marius said,
throwing his arm around the shorter boy's shoulders and leaning in
close. "Tell me her weird obscure fears" He whispered into Alex's
ear. Was it mean to pit the two against each other? a little. Was
it fun? oh of course.
"Eliza is scared of space and the beach." Alex said,
crossing his arms. Eliza's laughing stopped. "And water. Poor thing
can barely take baths without gettin' spooked." Eliza flushed. "At
least I don't scream for help when my stuffed bear fell on the
floor and I'm too scared to grab it because something could come
from under the bed and grab me." Alex gasped and bit his lip. "I
don't whine when there's a spider in the shower that's the size of
a penny." Eliza's nostrils flared. "I don't cry when there's a
freaking shadow behind me that I didn't know was mine until it
scared me to tears." Alex swallowed hard.
"Ooo owch, scared of water? Sorry love, dont think I can get along
with you. My first love is the sea." Marius said, dramatically
putting his hand to his head. "Stuffed bear tho, thats adorable!"
Eliza flushed an embarassed red at Marius' words, sighing.
Alex buried his face in his hands again, letting out a frustrated
noise and a groan. Eliza glanced at him and giggled lightly. She
was embarrassed, but it was hilarious to see Alex so
flustered.
