It was the night after a show, the staff had gone to bed and the 'freaks' had been locked away in their cages for the night. Despite being inside, it was still very cold (cold enough that they could see their breath) - they had nothing but a bed of straw and their clothes. The trailer, holding them, was dimly lit by a few candles, their flames fluttering.

It was also the last show of the week. Being a traveling circus, they moved very frequently. One reason was for money. The second reason was to hide the abuse. The only positive thing about being in the circus was being able to see the world.

But was it worth it? The suffering, just to see beautiful places? What if they could, somehow, run away, and still see all these places?

Shift (also known as Brylea) sat with her knees to her chest, whilst her arms were securely wrapped around them. She said absolutely nothing. Nothing was stopping her from leaving, except the guilt that would come to her as soon as she did. Guilt for leaving those who'd suffered here longer than her, she couldn't let them suffer alone any longer. Which is why she stayed and suffered with them.

Cold. That's what it was. Unlike her name, Poppy was never cold. She'd been used to things that she hates-- things that she hated. Wishing she could create a small fire to warm the freaks, but worried of the consequences, Poppy feasted on her thoughts. How she hated 'Spark', her freak name, because sparks of a fire burn flowers.

Troye shivered. He hated being cold. He hated everything anout this situation. He just leaned against the bars of his cage and sighed, closing his eyes. Lise meanwhile, wasn't really bothered by the cold. She had gotten used to it, having been here so long. She sighed. All she really wanted was a good book and to be free.

Macbeth was sitting with his legs crossed in his cage. He was asleep, He had learned how to ignore the cold and deal with it.

Ren looked around to make sure he wasn't caught. He reached into the back of his shirt and pulled out an old blanket. He had got it from a kid who dropped it during the show. He snuggled under it and tried to get warm. He had countless other items he kept since he was one of the first five freaks ever in the show.

Bradley sat with his arms crossed.

Poppy hummed a tune she had heard once, not realizing it was slightly loud. The notes were sad, but she found joy in them.

He hated this. Some of the other freaks were getting a little too bold. Didn't they know that the ringmaster would sometimes beat him in their stead when they thought that they got away with it? He liked some of the freaks here. They were sweet and didn't deserve any of this. Teddy curled against the far corner of his cage, his back facing the rest of them. He knew how to escape, but he also knew better than to do something that selfish and shallow-minded. He just hoped that the others knew that too.

Sugar could hear Poppy's tune and looked around. Just when are we going to get out of here, she thought. "Po- I mean Spark, is that you?" she whispered quiet, enough so that it could only be heard between them.

"If you had the chance to leave, what would be the first thing you do?" Brylea blurts out, then turns away as if regretting asking.

Troye heard the tune but didn't say anything. All he could think was how good that would sound on a piano. His piano. Lise fiddled with a stray piece of yarn of a scarf she had snagged off a woman when she wasn't looking. She sighed and then tried to fall asleep. Her eyes then popped righ open after she heard Brylea's question. She wasn't sure. Would she leave and leave everyone here?

"That's me." Poppy whispered back. "You can call me Poppy. I prefer it."

She then spoke in a louder voice. "Become a magician. Open a magic shop. I dont care about my family."

Sugar was silent when Brylea blurted the question aloud. "What would that be of any interest to you?" Sugar growled slightly but softened. She was in the mood for talking after all so what use is there to be rude? "I would want to see my mother," she mumbled.

"Don't be so naive, you can't just leave like that. Where would you go? You don't have anything but the clothes on your back. And what about the rest of us? I've been taking some of you guys' punishments for a while now-think of what'll happen if the ringmaster finds out one of you escaped? I'm sorry, but it's too risky!" He quietly hissed, shifting to that he was sitting upright. As much as he liked some of them, he wasn't about to go risk his life because someone else was selfish enough to leave.

Bradley heard the question and opened his eyes, "Kill the ringmaster" he said coldly.

Ren looked down, "To die. I have been here for way to many years" he says.

"Sorry then," Sugar mumbled softly, "but I just can't stop dreaming of freedom from this place." She was unable to keep up her tough exterior now and was reduced to a pile of goop. "Teddy, you want to escape, right?" she asked.

"I can't afford to, what about you guys? You'll all get hurt because I decided to be selfish. Besides, I don't even know what it's like out there-remember, I've lived here for most of my life." He sighed, shifting once again so he could hug his knees. He was used to the cold by now, but he still preferred being warm. Last time he got sick it spreaded to the others and he got a beating for it.

Troye thought for a moment. "I suppose so, but you could always come back. File a lawsuit, set everyone free. That would be ideal." He said. Lise sighed. "I haven't been outside in a long time, but its gotta be better than this." She said.

Sugar was slightly disturbed by what Bradley and Ren said, shivering from just those words. She didn't like murder despite what she acted like. "Or you can just come with us if we manage to escape," she chuckled quietly, "we all need to taste freedom again." She was smiling right now, enjoying the feeling of talking to others.

"And how do you even file a lawsuit? You would need information beforehand to do that," she wondered aloud.

Despite the cold air all around them, Oliver Melinko and Pierre Koroko were quite warm. Oliver had summoned a tiny fire with his little strength. Pierre leaned against his friend, whimpering like a little puppy. Oliver gently stroked his friend's hair, head resting on his. "I know, I know," Oliver cooed.

"I-"

"You did everything just right." Pierre had only recently suffered a beating, with his ears being ripped at, and his left eye being forcibly gouged out. It was brutal to witness, with Oliver being right there, but they had to be strong. They were trapped together, so it wasn't terrible.

At this time, young Lauren Amiya was listening in on the conversation. She had by now given up on hope. Not like this place was even better than home. At least she would be noticed for her successes, even if not by those she loves. She nudged her glasses gently, wishing more than anything that she could suffer for them.

She heard the quiet, "I know. I know.", "I-", "You did everything just right." from Oliver and Pierre. She felt bad for the two. They were as close as brothers, but they're stuck here! She stared at her bruised wrists and sighed. It's better me than them but...

my forms aren't done but i can still rp right?

There's nothing more beautiful than the rain.

"How exactly? We all don't have anything besides the clothes on our backs-no one's gonna listen to a bunch of kids. Besides, where would we go? Some of us are too old for foster care and we'll be thrown into the streets. And we aren't even normal-I'm pretty sure if someone found out about one of our powers then the rest of us will be hunted down. Think of the things they could do to us-we'd be back at square one." He sighed, running his fingers through his unruly hair out of habit.

Whilst everyone else was speaking, plans for escaping were flying around Brylea's head. Despite the mild headache it was giving her, although, it was nothing like the pain she'd experienced before, she knew that if at least one plan went right, everyone else's freedom and happiness would be worth whatever risk she'd be taking.
