It had been a week since the monsters had made it to the surface world with the human they now formerly knew as Frisk. Sans and Papyrus had moved into a small house they'd bought, which was right next door to Toriel and Frisks' home, while Undyne and Alphys lived down the road from them. Nobody knew where Mettaton or Napstablook had gone, but they saw them on TV and they could keep in touch with him over text, since Alphys gave Mettaton a hi-tech smartphone, with a built in microphone, too. Asgore lived on the other side of town, because he'd had another fight with Toriel a short time after the barrier had broken, making him a miserable wreck all over again.
*ring, ring...*
"Oh, Blooky, would you mind getting that for me?" a robotic voice calls out. "I'm in the middle of doing my hair!"
"ok...." the miserable ghost mumbles, floating over too the phone. "hello?" he sighed, waiting for an answer.
"H-HELLO?!? WHO IS THIS??" a loud, scared sounding voice croaked.
"um... i'm napstablook. mettatons' music artist. you sound worried... do you need help?" Blooky stuttered.
"ALRIGHT. CAN I PLEASE SPEAK TO METTATON? IT'S URGENT!!" the voice pleaded.
"Oh- Ok Blooky! I'm coming!!" The celebrity shouts, racing through their home and picking up the smartphone. "H-hello?" He stuttered, a most worried expression on his face.
"METTATON!! PLEASE HELP ME!" The voice screams.
"Papyrus!? Oh my god, what is it Papy? Tell me!!!" He shivers as suddenly, it feels like his metallic heart it overheating because it's beating so fast.
"IT'S SANS!!!! WE WERE AT THE PARK, AND HE FELL OVER, AND.. AND... NNGG... HELP!!!!!" Papyrus screeches, tears welling up in his eyes.
"Don't worry, Papyrus!!! I'll come down to your house!! Just hang on, ok?" Mettaton Yells, sprinting out of the mansion and getting into the car.
"Oh, h-hello, Mettaton. please, can you come in?" Toriel asks him, looking rather upset and just a tiny bit scared.
"O-Of course, Toriel." Mettaton sighed fearing the worst as he walked inside.
"METTATON!!! THANK GOODNESS YOU'RE HERE! WE NEED ALL THE HELP WE CAN GET, HELPHELPHELP!!!!!!!!" Papyrus screamed as he dragged the robot inside.
'oh.. h-heya... mtt....." Sans managed to blabber out as he lay on the ground.
"Oh my god- Papyrus! What happened? Is he ok??" Mettaton stutters as he looks down at sans, wrapped up in a blanket.
"Mmmm!" Frisk hums in sadness as they run up to Mettaton, crying their eyes out.
"Ah! F-Frisk? Are you ok, Frisk?" Mettaton stumbles a bit.
"What the- OH MY GOD!!" Mettaton shouts, scaring everyone in the room. "How is that possible??!?!" Mettaton continues yelling, noticing the blood. Frisk notices too, and points it out to Papyrus.
"AHHHHH! WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN TO SANS?!?" Papyrus shouts, starting to cry a little. Alphys and Undyne both gasp as they see, on top of Sans' skull a small amount of... dust? Then, the dust becomes a bit more noticeable as it spreads until part of his skull has disappeared. Papyrus starts crying and Toriel walks over to him and comforts him.
"Papyrus, it's ok. Shh... it's ok." Toriel mutters, hugging him sadly, tears starting to well up in her own eyes as more dust appears around the blanket.
"b-bro.... pap...." Sans whispers, disappearing more by the second.
"S-SANS...?" He kneels down and shuffles closer.
"p-pap.... e-en...enjoy the future for me... urgh... bye... pap......." Sans splutters as he turns to dust completely.
"I.... I'LL MISS YOU....
...
BRO."
By now, everyone in the room is crying, and even Napstabloook had found his way there at some point.
"Everyone walked over to hug papyrus as he sat there, sobbing. Nobody could think of anything to say, their minds all being filled with all the fun things they'd done with Sans. Nobody dared say his name.
"Papyrus..? I.. I'm really sorry..." Mettaton stutters, holding Papyrus close. The dust had spread through the room, and it was filled with Papyrus' crying and sobbing, but who could blame him?
