Keene stepped out of the big house after his meeting with Chiron.
In his pocket held the copy of the Prophecy he was given. He
already knew which other demigods he was choosing to go on the
quest with. He didnt know the two of them terribly well, but he
knew that they fit the bill of being a bit different from the rest
of their peers. Which he guess was the point of the prophecy. He
wandered over in the direction of the Apollo cabin, hoping to catch
Aimee before she went off to her activities.
Aimee looked down at the prophecy in her hands, and set it on her
bedside. She shivered and slipped her grey hoodie on, flipping the
hood up. She smiled at her siblings, and said "Later!" Softly. She
knew they were jealous, but she tried not to acknowledge that. She
slipped out of the door, closing it behind her. She turned, looking
at her toes as she hopped down the steps, shoving her hands in her
pockets with a sigh. The ground seemed really interesting to stare
at.
"Oh, Hey! Aimee!" Keene called, jogging towards Aimee. "As the, ah,
leader of the quest, I was thinking that we should, perhaps leave
in a few days?" He said after he had caught up to her. "So that way
we have enough time to prepare, while not imposing on any possible
deadline we may end up having. If thats okay with you, and Aidan,
who, uh, I still need to ask." He rubbed the back of his neck with
one hand as he gestured with the other. He kept stumbling over his
words, as if unsure of the whole leader of the quest thing. He
fiddled with the four beads on his necklace as he waited for
Aimee's response.
"Oh! Hello." Aimee waved lightly to the boy. She stood and listened
to him, and smiled lightly, nodding. "That sounds good to me. I
honestly still have to get ready..." She laughed softly, sounding
nervous. She sighed. She glanced to her toes, then back to the son
of Ares. She fixed her shirt a bit, smiling timidly. She'd never
been cool around people. Or around anything. She rolled her sleeves
up a bit, and revealed the small infinity sign tattoo. Being the
young-ish girl she was, she loved temporary tattoos. They were fun
to put on and wear, to her.
"Oh, yeah of course. No rush or anything. And if you need any help
with anything, I'll be around" Keene said, stuffing his hands into
his pockets so he would stop fidgeting with everything. "My
schedule cleared up so I can prep for the quest and all." He said,
trailing off at the end, staring past Aimee as he half zoned out,
trying to get a solid list of things he had to get done together.
He hardly needed to pack, as he didnt own many things. His bunk was
the cleanest in all of the ares cabin.
"Yeah, I think mine was too. I don't have anything." Aimee said,
nodding. She glanced behind her, think he was looking at something.
She saw nothing, so she turned back, smiling. She waved her hand in
front of his face. Her brow was raised, which shifted her face a
bit. She smiled. She smiling, continuing to wave her hand with a
soft "Yoo-hoo? Anyone home...?" She had tried a bit of humor, and
she smiled again, her brow still raised.
"ah, yep, sorry bout that!" Keene stuttered. "Sorry, just trying to
get my stuff in order, zoned out a bit. I'm going to bounce, gotta
find Aidan, run the whole plan by him and all." Keene said, before
starting towards the hesphestus cabin.
"Alright! See you!" Aimee smiled, heading to a large tree. She
curled up under if, beginning to sketch activity in the camp. She
sketched two boys, brunette and blonde, chasing each other. They
were new, and small. They laughed, one tackling the other. The
point that caught Aimee's eye was at which the boy was half jump,
his arms coming close. She got that on her mind, and sketched it.
She giggled lightly as she shaded, looking up at the now wrestling
boys.
Aidan heard about new prophecy and was honestly surprised that
leader decided to choose him to go on mission. At the same time, he
wasn't so surprised. He knew that he will be needed one day, and
who is better for dangerous mission than himself. He was so sure
that this would be something interesting, something different than
being in camp, doing almost nothing. Not to say that things he did
aren't one of the best, if you ask him. He looked at the sky and
smiled. 'This will be awesome.' He thought, forgetting about
all the dangers he might encounter on journey.
"Oh! Aidan!" Keene hollered, seeing the other boy staring at the
sky. "I wanted to just see if you were, ah, okay with leaving in a
few days, maybe two or so. I know we dont really have a strict time
limit, but I figured that it would be best. So that way, we have
some time to prepare for everything. And if you need any help with
any of your own individual prep, I can help you. My schedule
cleared up and all, yanno, to prep." Keene managed, rubbing the
back of his neck nervously.
When he was called, Aidan turned around with big smile on his lips.
''Sure thing.'' He stopped and winked at other boy. ''I will surely
call you if I need help with anything.'' The way he said it, might
of seem weird to people who didn't know him, but to those that did
it was his normal act for when he was happy.
He turned around and waved to boy, goodbye. ''I will see you,
Leader.'' It was time for him to pack his things and he would love
to procrastinate more, but he knew if he did that he wouldn't pack
anyday soon.
Keene took a moment to compose himself, a little red in the face at
Aidan's flirting. He started towards the training hall, He had a
while on his hands before lunch, so why not spend that time
striving to beat a training dummy. He figured he should also brush
up on some survival skills, and a few maps. They didnt have much to
go off of as far as directions went. From what he had heard from
the aphrodite kids, Charleston South carolina was very romantic,
and they are apparently going 'under the spell of amour' so maybe
thats hinting at Aphrodite? Keene shook his head to clear it as he
entered the training hall, weaving his way around other kids who
were actually scheduled to be there.
As Aidan walked in his cabin, he saw few of his siblings removing
dirty clothes from either working or training. He ignored them and
walked off to his bed. Under his bed, he kept his bag and small
amout of things he had.
First thing he picked up was picture of his family, he hoped he
will get to see his siblings from mothers side when he gets old
enough to live on his own. He left his picture under his bed and
returned to poacking. He was sure that it will be hot there so he
packed up two sleeveless shirts, one hoodie and bunch of throwing
knifes. Now he didn't think that he needs anything else, so he sat
down on his bed and took paper with prophecy on it.
Aimee stood, and closed the sketch pad. She started back to her
cabin, and held the sketch pad under her arm. She opened the door
to her siblings all just chilling. She waved, and one of her
brother smiled and waved back. She set down her items, and pulled
out a suitcase. She put in some flannels and jackets, with jeans
and tank tops. She put it other essentials, and set her sketching
items on top. She began to sing other her breath, and blinked
lightly. She zipped the suitcase up, slidding it under her bed. She
sat down, and leaned back till she was laying and staring at the
upper bunk.
Aidan was never one to understand riddles, so this prophecy really
confused him as he read it over and over again. At the end he put
it back in his pocket and walked out of his cabin. He might as well
go for a walk while thinking about what was written.
Once he was out of his cabin, he noticed a few younger demigods
playing. He smiled remembering how it was when he was younger. It
hasn't been so much time since he got here, just few years. He
tuched both of his necklaces, one made in camp and one given to him
from his mother.
Keene finished training with the dummy after a while, and left the
training hall. He made his way over to the strawberry hills and
sat, watching demigods tending to the plants as he contemplated the
riddle. He figured everything would just play out, as a quest tends
to do. He brushed his hair out of his eyes. The only thing that had
him slightly worried was the whole 'spell of amour' thing. He never
had the best of luck with romance before, He always got too
flustered or read things wrong.
Aimee laid on her bed, sighing. She sat up and she swiveled around,
standing up. She waved, and headed to the closet. She opened the
door to grab her guitar. She slid it into its case and set it over
her shoulder. She headed out, going to the tree to play and sing.
She sat and pulled out the guitar, and plucked the strings. She
smiled, hitting the first notes before beginning to sing lightly.
"I saw him dancin' there by the record machine. I knew he must a
been about seventeen. The beat was goin' strong, playin' my favorite
song, an' I could tell it wouldn't be long till he was with me,
yeah me, An' I could tell it wouldn't be long. Till he was with me,
yeah me..." She tapped her foot to the music and smiled. She
continued to strum and sing, her foot tapping on beat.
Keene woke up bright and early, making his bed in silence as his
fellow Ares kids slept quietly around him. He grabbed his bag
filled with the few things he owned and left, leaving the bed as it
looked when he had arrived to the camp. Keene's backpack couldnt
have weighed more than ten pounds. He had two changes of clothing,
a few different types of currency equating to about 100 dollars,
some ambrosia and nectar, as well as a first aid kit, a few
pictures of his family and his spear tip. He walked up to the top
of the hill where most Demigods entered the Camp and waited for his
quest mates.
