I searched the whole Forum by typing "categories of Beauty Contests" into the Search bar.

I feel that a Beauty Contest would be more equal if all entries with shinies were pitted against each other, if all Event Pokemon Dress-ups were judged against each other and so on.

I think that would help the new people who may have just joined recently and have not yet had the fortune to find or afford Shinies and Event mons.

I don't know how else to explain it.

If it doesn't make sense I can try again.


Or perhaps I'm just sore after seeing all the pretty shinies and Legendaries I haven't been fortunate enough to find yet.

Or perhaps make the Beauty Contest like the contests from Ruby and Sapphire by having Dress-Up categories for "Cool" "Cute" "Tough" "Smart" as well as "Beauty".

Make the second idea would be better?

Or a combination, perhaps?

Personally, I don't find separating shinies and event Pokemon into different contests necessary. Photos with common Pokemon and creative use of the background and accessories will score higher than photos with rare Pokemon that had little work put into them.

However, I wouldn't mind if the contests occasionally had a theme that the users had to incorporate into their image. It may encourage users to create new photos instead of reusing them.

I don't even check if a pokemon is shiny or common. I look at the amount of effort, composition, originality and the amount of items (which tells me the user might not be artistic but they worked hard anyways to gain items).

My standard scoring system is pretty much;

Any poke with none or only 1 item = 1-2
A poke with a few items randomly spammed with no effort or thought = 2-3
A poke with random items spammed with more effort = 3-5
A poke with a lot of items that look like something but not original, same old stuff but good effort = 5-7
A poke with any amount of items that the user has clearly put a lot of effort/originality into = 8-9
It looks amazing regardless of items/totally original/ingenious/huge amount of effort = 9-10
Anything at all that makes me laugh out loud is auto 10'd regardless of anything.

I got to say it's already tedious enough with the voting system without splitting it down into more categories, I'd like to be able to see a screenful of photos like the results page gives and vote on them one by one.

what doesn't make any sense to me in the beauty contest is the ones so crammed full of things u can't see the pokemon just maybe a eye placing high. i personally just look for creativity on voting
