Starter Pokemon
Forum-Index → Suggestions → Starter PokemonIt also would be unfair since members had always needed to trade gems for the eggs, not obtain it normally like other starters (from the lab). It's also likely Aloha Starters are going to distributed by not normal ways since that happened with Kalos.
Most people don't even trade gems for the eggs. The times of trading gems for Kalos starters have passed since long ago when breeding was introduced for them. I think it's been long enough that users won't get upset about having to trade gems for the eggs in the past if the Kalos starters are given as starter choices.
While I do think it's a good idea to implement special ways to get starters from new regions at first, after the region has been out in the games for a long time, it's also a good idea to begin treating the "new" starters as "old" and/or "regular" starters.
What I meant in that sentence is that you can get the starters at the start of the registration in the lab already, even if they are rare, but to get the Kalos starters you needed to trade 50 gems of their primary type so to get it at the start of the registration seems really unfair for the older users.
Though, if everyone would get a chance to re-choose their starter if this is ever were to be implemented, it would even it out.
Then, Darkrai should not be available after the darktober event as a permanent addition.
Then, Raylong should not be made into a permanent quest...
Then Retro Pikachu should not have been distributed again?
And according to your logic, Giratina orbs should not be found outside of the Halloween event.
Anything else?
…What is your point here? You're only contradicting yourself. My logic? ;
Those who work hard enough to get something, an item, an object in a game deserve it if they work for it. Sometimes hard work requires time.
Are you a click-maniac that can click 10,000 a day when you're stuck on a phone?
Is Darkrai an event pokèmon associated with an event?: No, nightmare isn't a halloween thing, you get them every day of the year, does Darkrai plays a role in Halloween 2015 Quest Event as an antagonist? yeah.
Is Shaymin obtainable every Summer by clicking, also by random chance? Is Shaymin associated with summer, canonly? Yes.
Can Sky Gifts can only be sent in Summer? Yes, it's an event-exclusive feature in summer.
Are Red and Blue Orbs obtained by scoring in the top 100 clicking a lot in ORAS event? Are Mega Kyogre and Groudon event-exclusive in the game?
Giratina Orbs— Let me repeat a point, Giratina isn't an exclusive Pokèmon associated with Halloween just because it's spoopy scary spider 666 limbs. Giratina is one of the legendary in the creation trio that represent antimatter; now tell me that make sense as a halloween exclusive Pokèmon becaude it isn't. It was distributed in Halloween merely by it's sinister nature (violent Pokèdex entries) and appearance.
Those things you listed were made (semi) permanent because it make sense and you need to do things to get it, not sit on your butt complaining it's too hard or unfair. They aren't 100% limited but not too reserved either.
What we're talking about right now is a starter Pokèmon everyone gets at the start of the game, you literally don't do anything to get it other than registering onto the site. Older users literally can't get it, like, 'nO you can't have it old-timer, you got cooler stuff before noooo?', like, in all honestly we can't just get a Chespin as our starter and have it written on our profile identity. Older users may have also spent gems on it and while it may seem cheap you can't deny that getting something for free when others must do something to get is unfair.
But if new users can get more selections of starters, it actually isn't fair to everyone who have already joined. So really, I don't know.
I also want to address this line of reasoning for not supporting the suggestion even if this quote is years old:
Not making something available to new users because it would be unfair to the old users is a petty and flawed argument in my opinion. Just because the users registered today had to "suffer" through not having the full roster of starters to choose from doesn't mean future users should "suffer" the same just to be "fair."
You don't just refuse to right a wrong because other people have been wronged before.
It's been years some of these starters have been out and it's pretty bizarre they're still not included in such a basic and integral pokemon mechanic as starter selection. KrazyKarp said it excellently:
Let me tell you a secret,
The real monsters don't look like monsters~
