'Blocked' Notice Colour
Forum-Index → Suggestions → 'Blocked' Notice ColourThere's a small problem which some users are facing...
The 'Block' option is placed right below the 'Add to friendlist' option. Hence, it so happens that users accidentally click 'Block' instead of 'Add' at times, after which they get the "_____ has been added to your blocklist.".
It's important to note that the 'Blocked' notice is in green, as is the 'Added' notice. This at times leads to us NOT noticing that we have blocked a person whom we wanted to add as a friend.
The suggestion is that when the "_____ has been added to your blocklist." notice comes up, it should be in a red box instead of a green one to avoid confusion. The colour scheme would make things convenient as green generally refers to positive things (here, socialising) and red refers to negative things (in this case, avoiding contact with intended user).
A visual depiction of suggestion is as follows:
↓
When something goes right, the box is green; when something goes wrong, the box is red. We've been conditioned to try it again/look for the problem if the box is red. Changing the "user successfully added to block list" box to red, will cause even more confusion as a lot of users would scroll back down to try again, only to see that it did work. If red has always warned us that something went wrong, why shouldn't we assume something went wrong if the "success" message is suddenly also red?

We have red color for the 'Unfriended' notice instead of green. Naturally red depicts something negative, not just something going wrong. And blocking and removing someone from your friendslist both signify (to an extent) that we do not want to maintain social contact with them.
And like you said, reading every notice is important too. But when someone who is new and/or with vision impairment wants to add users to socialise more, it's easy to misinterpret a 'block' action as a 'friend' action due to the color scheme.
This want the case before the block feature was introduced, since green meant positive and red meant negative, in this context them being socialising and otherwise, respectively.
Green is meant to be shown when something goes right/good. So in this case, you wanted to block someone, and the pop-up is shown green because it was successfully done, the way you wanted.
Red wouldn't make sense?

If what you said was the case, why shouldn't we see green for the 'un-friended' notice instead of red that we currently see?
Maybe I'm not making the most sense, but getting a red warning, when something went 'right' still doesn't make sense to me, sorry ^^'

You do make a good point. But even when I go by what you say, we wouldn't block someone unless something went 'wrong' with the relationship between two users. Nobody would just block someone out of the blue.
Another point I'd like to say is that we also have red notices in the Emera Square after the 2 events have ended for the month, at the royal tunnel when we've made a mistake or ran out of time, at the honeytree when we lose honey to wild pokemon, and even when someone else makes a forum post while we are typing ours.
Technically, nothing went wrong when we see the notice at Emera Square.
Red because it is unavailable for users until the event starts again. Wouldn't make sense if it's green, since it's that colour when the event is available (user will not be able to do the event until next month)
Red because the user made a wrong choice/mistake when choosing an answer, and when the time for each question has expired (user will not get the PD back they spent on the level)
Red because we lost the honey we put on the tree for a Pokemon that ended up running away (user will not get the honey back or the Pokemon that ran away)
If someone is replying to a question in the "Help" section of the forum, and someone posts before them, the red shows the user that they were a bit late, and may not need to make a post as someone else has made it already, to avoid unnecessary 'spam' (or just posts that say the same thing)
All this is pretty much self-explanatory, but I hope it's a bit clearer now.
All of the red pop-ups are shown after something unexpecting. You can't 100% predict if someone will make a post before you. You can't 100% predict when a Pokemon will steal your honey, etc.
But blocking someone is predictable for you because it is a choice you're making, and is a choice that you want to make.
And also
How would the game know if someones 'relationship' is bad or not though. Someone might block someone without them even speaking to each other, but just heard some negative things about the certain user. What the game does know is that we are manually making the choice of blocking someone by our own will.

@Saknar - I understand where you're coming from, but whether or not a relationship goes wrong isn't really something that happens, because you use a certain feature on PH; you use the feature to make sure it doesn't get even worse.
It's not whether or not your relationship goes south, but whether or not your choice turned out to be 'wrong'.
Here's how I see it (very simply)
You make a decision => You've made a choice you feel is justified :) We'll make it happen. [Green]
You decide to go back on your decision => Oh, you feel you made a wrong choice :( We'll reverse it for you. [Red]
And in my opinion, you can't really compare it to the red message boxes in the Emera Square, as they don't appear after doing a specific action, but are visible, depending on what's possible, not on what the user's done. What went "wrong", if you're seeing a red notice, is that you're either too late or too early depending on what drew you to the Square in the first place.
