Aspenheart was a bit discouraged at the fact someone could so carelessly trod on perfectly fine herbs, and now that leafbare was nearing, the whole Clan would likely need to pitch in and find herbs to make up for this unfortunate occurrence. However, he wouldn't go on another patrol without Spiritclaw's permission and waited for the deputy's orders.


Stoatpaw heard Smokestar's speech and realized why the den had seemed so empty. His tail flicked in annoyance and got up to follow Lightwhisper. When he caught up to her, he meowed, "Hi! I was wondering if you needed any help." He paused and noticed Lightwhisper's claws and her apparent cautiousness. "What are you doing?" he asked in a quiet voice.

Lightwhisper looked around. "I swear to StarClan, you scared me Stoatpaw! I heard something...or someone, and so I tried to figure out who or what it was. Care to help me figure it out before I take these herbs back to camp?" Suddenly, a tiny gold tabby with small, brown eyes bared her teeth. "Why are you on my territory?" she demanded, trying to sound threatening even though she wasn't even half of Stoatpaw's size.

Stoatpaw flattened his ears. "I apologize," he meowed, and was about to agree to help her when a small cat--more like a kitten, really--appeared. He tilted his head and looked the female over. She was definitely smaller than him, and posed no threat at all. Nevertheless, he felt his fur bristle slightly when she first bared her teeth. Now his fur lie flat and he looked at Lightwhisper for instructions on what to do.

"This is WindClan territory, young kit," Lightwhisper mewed. The gold tabby kit squeaked. "Hey! Don't call me kit!" Lightwhisper rolled her eyes. "Let's take her back to camp for now," she told Stoatpaw. "C'mon. We're taking you to camp," the medicine cat said to the she-kit.

Sandfur went to the warrior's den, and saw Flamingwind and Spiritclaw, but ignored them. She padded over to her bed, laying onto the soft moss. She curled into a small ball, her tail covering her nose.

The gold tabby kit mewed in distress as Lightwhisper picked her up and carried her toward WindClan camp. "C'mon, Stoatpaw," she mewed through the lump of fur. The she-kit squirmed around. I'll come back for the herbs, but maybe I should leave her with Lunartail, Lightwhisper thought. Luckily, she had set a rock on top of the herbs before she encountered the kit, so the herbs would likely still be there.
