Congrats to the winners!! If I were you, I should keep the Shiny Darkrai for yourself, because it is such an unique price!

But I can say: Riako, mods and spriters/artists: Thanks for all the effort you've put into this event!

Never commented before but I really did enjoy this event. ^-^

Just a shame I'm no good with riddles. A such, I did ask for help with some of the clues and typically found I was in the right area, just not quite doing it right. XD
I wasn't able to do the last two but I don't mind. I wouldn't have attempted the code anyway, with only three winners. It wouldn't have felt right to try and enter.

Only thing I have an issue with is that there were only three Shiny Darkrai. For such a large userbase I find that is a little, well, unfair. Considering 111 people played fair. It seems a shame that only three were rewarded. Even five or ten would have been fairer in my opinion but hey, this was a first time right? Maybe future events (that perhaps do not have as much fabulous effort put into them) could take the above into consideration? Just my opinion of course and a very small one on this site. ^-^

And I guess people will probably start hunting Darkrai soon enough, assuming the maps become available that is.

I'm pretty isolated from the community but it does sadden me to see such a large number of people cheating and once more you having to go through it all and find out who's genuine. Hopefully seeing these numbers will make some of those cheaters think twice next time.

Perhaps in future events, the code could be kept hidden until all or a certain number of steps/puzzles have been taken/solved. It might cut down on how many people cheat.

Congrats to those who won! :D

As a fan of puzzles, I really enjoyed solving the riddles and the code word. It's sad to hear that the cheaters ruined it. Seeing an event like this in the future would have been awesome.

Technically even if someone had solved 4 or less mysteries they still could've legitimately gotten it. In fact, I was able to guess the mystery word after solving #4 (even though I completed all of them anyway)... :P

Also, I told both of my brothers the answer in person (and they helped me with some of the mysteries too), so I was technically cheating. Either way, I didn't win the raffle (given my luck that was never gonna happen :/). But congratulations to those who did!

I hope that, even though this time there were so many cheaters, something like this could be done again. Maybe you could make it so that every time the code word is posted it gets blanked out, but that would probably be difficult to code and I could see people spacing the characters out (like "n i g h t m a r e s") or intentionally misspelling it (like "nihgtmares") in order to spoil the answer (it's sad what some people can do to ruin a game for others...) Either way, this event was very enjoyable and if you're up to it, you should definitely do something like this again.

And @Professor Juniper: You might want to get rid of that post.

@Dimension0 the story with the old man and the darkrai goes like this, (from memory sorry if a bit hard to follow)

the man travels the world with his umbreon, they come across a dark box, a box he cant open, all of a sudden a shadow begins to follow him, every night he stumbles deeper and deeper into chaos, the nightmares continue, so he hides the box where his pokemon friends will keep it safe, still the nightmares continue, the children, the children want to steal his box, so finally he kidnaps the children and his sanity breaks, he does something unforgivable and is forever lost to chaos.

source material is the diary fragments from the mysteries, the lost child who haunts you and gives you her drifloon, and the darktober event description in the index.
Pet Dark Prince Zorua for good luck ;)

I am sorry so many people cheated. I do hope you will do another even like this. This one was so much fun. I love mysteries! I got the code word because my sister watches gravity falls and they do stuff like that all the time on there and I get an ear full every time I walk in to her room :) I am sorry for all the time it took up out of your day though. I hope you have better luck in the future with things like this. Have a great day!

This was an AMAZING event!! when I solved the big riddle with the cipher, I felt amazing! It was alot of work, but it was so much fun. I HATE that so many people messed it up for the rest of us. I dont know why people give away answer- the most I asked so is if someone could tell me if I was on the right track..a simple yes or no. :( also, I kinda hate that it was only 3 shinies XD wish there were more prizes!

Congrats tot he winners!!!

This event was so amazing, Riako, really appreciate all the work you put into each of the riddles and the code word. Thankfully my brother had pulled me into watching Gravity Falls a couple weeks ago and I saw a lot of the coded messages in the episodes. Loved your temporary avatar by the way! Love that crazy Bill!
So sorry that so many cheated, it's more than I thought although I'm not totally surprised. For some when it gets hard they stop trying :c Some of these had me thinking for a while, that's for sure, but I really enjoyed having to think for something fun after not having to really work my brain for a long while.
This was a really refreshing event that got me some mental exercise, and for that even more thanks ;3 even if we don't see another event like this anytime soon or at all.

About 79% of my notifications were "Oh, I need help on Raffles 1-10 and such!" When I posted that I was struggling, I didn't want help but users were all like "HAHA, no! We are getting you 'banned' from winning the Darkrai by spoiling the hints away"

Ridiculous all those cheats

Thank you for the answer but what I really wanted to say was like... This was a good story/diary and I think if something like that would be the part of the book then I'd definitly read it. Just wanted some more details because when I read the parts of the diary I could really feel this dark/quite creepy aura. :)

The event was amazing. You could tell that so much time and effort was put into it. Such a shame that people had to go and cheat and mess up this(and any chance of a similar event in the future) for us. It's really disappointing even though the page said specifically not to give out the codeword.

It's saddening that they didn't appreciate the hard work gone into the event. Even though you said it wasn't going to happen, I do hope for a future event similar to this, because it was fun(especially the story)

Anyway. Congrats to the winners and I'm happy that those who had a chance of winning got the code legit.

Sucks that so many cheated on a fun event. I know for me it was really hard to figure out and even asked for a hint on how to figure it out... I'm just kinda slow on figuring stuff out, and I won't lie, I got a couple hints that were easier to figure out then the Clue. But for someone like me, I have to have things worded differently and in simpler terms to understand! I did have fun though and explored this site as much as I could (I had a lot of ??????? areas that were locked) so I found my way around while searching for the answers.

Thanks for showing all the answers to the Clues, I woulda never thought of most of them!!! And thanks for the fun event despite so many cheaters!

70% Cheated? How sad .. The event itself was a fun event, how tragic they people did as such, cheating rather... defeats the purpose of these sort of events. Well done on doing a unique event though, kudos for coming up with them too, whilst a few of the clues were a bit too straight forward, I did love the creativity of some, especially the last one, that was probably my favorite nwn/

Congrats on the winners, if you won a Shiny Darkrai without cheating, you certainly deserved it :)

Ah it was 3 letters! Tbh after having the drifloon girl pop up for the other half's little bro next to me I was sure it was something to do with a balloon holding girl from gravity falls (I'll be honest I saw someone mention your picture Riako and how it linked with the show)

In the end the three of us couldn't work it out together and I'm ok with not winning, I got some early help and when I got the map I helped out the other two as well as a few others.

It is a shame people gave out the completed codes to friends and worse that they gave it out for rewards but just so you know it was an immensely enthralling event which had so many people hooked and anxious for the next clue.

Thank you for putting in the hard work for creating the event, was brilliant!!

Good luck also with university! It all pays off in the end!

I will admit. My friend and I were working together from the start. But that's because we are friends in real life and we like helping each other. Most of the riddles we figured out ourselves but when one was struggling, we would help. But in all honesty, we didn't think we were cheating by helping each other. We knew that the more people who figured it out would limit our chances but it was more for our own fun and knowing we figured it out. It was the code word that stumped me because I was looking at everything Pokemon related. I have watched every movie/tv episode, played every game, memorized the cards, memorized the moves, and I was stumped. If it wasn't for my friend being a fan of Gravity Falls (a show I only heard of and haven't had a chance to watch), I would have never gotten it. I was honestly thinking it was going to be something either to do with the Darkrai movie or with Darkrai's presence in the game. I was really frustrated when I couldn't figure it out. I scrambled and the letters and even tried ciphers that I know from Pokemon like Blissey's Secret Base. I love riddles, I love quests, I love doing things to figure out puzzles, but when they are relating to something I have zero knowledge about and something that has zero relation to Pokemon... it defeats the purpose of trying even after figuring out the 10 riddles. It was clear that you worked really hard on it and many of us appreciate the work you did. I would love to see more of these in the future (possibly with less desirable prizes so people who enjoy solving these would be the only ones who benefit from them, much like the badges). My only suggestion is to possibly keep it Pokemon related in the future. So that fans of the movies, games, etc have a better chance to figure it out.

Yeowch, seeing all these people "So bad cheaters ruined it" makes me feel so bad, wow. Please read my post on page 2, I hope you forgive me T-T
TL;DR my post: I asked for some help. I owe the whole of PH community an apology, I hope Riako sees my post and continues big events like this in the future.

Quote from ForumWell, that was maybe the hardest task, since it probably took some time until you find out that it's... a caesar code
All you had to do was to decrement all letters by three positions in the alphabet. (E.g. D => A, E => B, F => C, etc.)

That was also the code for some of the Gravity Falls show. And Riako had a bill icon.
Coincidence? I think not. -wink- -wink- -nudge- -nudge-

Like CerberusRebel said: for people who never heard of the game Gravity Falls this event was impossible for them to be solved on their own.

I never heard of the game as well and if a friend wouldn't have told me about the game (Gravity Falls)... I believe I'd never managed to solve the secret code. This is the big mistake you made from the start. Or to say you practically cheated on us. The last part was more like a bonus for those who know the game :/ And to stop those events because of some cheaters, well... There will ALWAYS be cheaters, always. It's not a good decision to run away / stop something because the first round messed up.

Just try it again but keep it Pokémon related. This is a Pokémon Website after all.

Did you guys read the solutions of all mysteries? o.o None of them mention a TV-Show. They are all either PokéHeroes- or Pokémon-related.
The caesar code is a common encryption method that has been invented about 2,000 years ago. With a bit of thinking & trying it out, you can "easily" solve it. No need to watch a TV show or whatsoever.

Also thanks everyone for the nice words :) Don't get the impression that I'm totally upset because of this; I'm not.
I was afraid that it might be ruined due to spoilers right from the beginning. But I'm a kind-hearted person who believed in people's fairness :b And therefore I wanted to try, since it was a great event in my opinion.
But, since the numbers and statistics are quite obvious, we cannot do such an event again. We don't want to reward cheaters.

Don't worry, I'll try to come up with other super awesome fun events in the future :) Just not one's that can be ruined by spoilers.
