Darktober Mysteries: Solved!
Forum-Index → News → Darktober Mysteries: Solved!Just a shame I'm no good with riddles. A such, I did ask for help with some of the clues and typically found I was in the right area, just not quite doing it right. XD
I wasn't able to do the last two but I don't mind. I wouldn't have attempted the code anyway, with only three winners. It wouldn't have felt right to try and enter.
Only thing I have an issue with is that there were only three Shiny Darkrai. For such a large userbase I find that is a little, well, unfair. Considering 111 people played fair. It seems a shame that only three were rewarded. Even five or ten would have been fairer in my opinion but hey, this was a first time right? Maybe future events (that perhaps do not have as much fabulous effort put into them) could take the above into consideration? Just my opinion of course and a very small one on this site. ^-^
And I guess people will probably start hunting Darkrai soon enough, assuming the maps become available that is.
I'm pretty isolated from the community but it does sadden me to see such a large number of people cheating and once more you having to go through it all and find out who's genuine. Hopefully seeing these numbers will make some of those cheaters think twice next time.
Perhaps in future events, the code could be kept hidden until all or a certain number of steps/puzzles have been taken/solved. It might cut down on how many people cheat.
Congrats to those who won! :D
Also, I told both of my brothers the answer in person (and they helped me with some of the mysteries too), so I was technically cheating. Either way, I didn't win the raffle (given my luck that was never gonna happen :/). But congratulations to those who did!
I hope that, even though this time there were so many cheaters, something like this could be done again. Maybe you could make it so that every time the code word is posted it gets blanked out, but that would probably be difficult to code and I could see people spacing the characters out (like "n i g h t m a r e s") or intentionally misspelling it (like "nihgtmares") in order to spoil the answer (it's sad what some people can do to ruin a game for others...) Either way, this event was very enjoyable and if you're up to it, you should definitely do something like this again.
And @Professor Juniper: You might want to get rid of that post.
the man travels the world with his umbreon, they come across a dark box, a box he cant open, all of a sudden a shadow begins to follow him, every night he stumbles deeper and deeper into chaos, the nightmares continue, so he hides the box where his pokemon friends will keep it safe, still the nightmares continue, the children, the children want to steal his box, so finally he kidnaps the children and his sanity breaks, he does something unforgivable and is forever lost to chaos.
source material is the diary fragments from the mysteries, the lost child who haunts you and gives you her drifloon, and the darktober event description in the index.
Congrats tot he winners!!!

So sorry that so many cheated, it's more than I thought although I'm not totally surprised. For some when it gets hard they stop trying :c Some of these had me thinking for a while, that's for sure, but I really enjoyed having to think for something fun after not having to really work my brain for a long while.
This was a really refreshing event that got me some mental exercise, and for that even more thanks ;3 even if we don't see another event like this anytime soon or at all.
Ridiculous all those cheats
Thank you for the answer but what I really wanted to say was like... This was a good story/diary and I think if something like that would be the part of the book then I'd definitly read it. Just wanted some more details because when I read the parts of the diary I could really feel this dark/quite creepy aura. :)
It's saddening that they didn't appreciate the hard work gone into the event. Even though you said it wasn't going to happen, I do hope for a future event similar to this, because it was fun(especially the story)
Anyway. Congrats to the winners and I'm happy that those who had a chance of winning got the code legit.
Thanks for showing all the answers to the Clues, I woulda never thought of most of them!!! And thanks for the fun event despite so many cheaters!
Congrats on the winners, if you won a Shiny Darkrai without cheating, you certainly deserved it :)
In the end the three of us couldn't work it out together and I'm ok with not winning, I got some early help and when I got the map I helped out the other two as well as a few others.
It is a shame people gave out the completed codes to friends and worse that they gave it out for rewards but just so you know it was an immensely enthralling event which had so many people hooked and anxious for the next clue.
Thank you for putting in the hard work for creating the event, was brilliant!!
Good luck also with university! It all pays off in the end!
TL;DR my post: I asked for some help. I owe the whole of PH community an apology, I hope Riako sees my post and continues big events like this in the future.
Check out my official Pokemon shinies here
That was also the code for some of the Gravity Falls show. And Riako had a bill icon.
Coincidence? I think not. -wink- -wink- -nudge- -nudge-
I never heard of the game as well and if a friend wouldn't have told me about the game (Gravity Falls)... I believe I'd never managed to solve the secret code. This is the big mistake you made from the start. Or to say you practically cheated on us. The last part was more like a bonus for those who know the game :/ And to stop those events because of some cheaters, well... There will ALWAYS be cheaters, always. It's not a good decision to run away / stop something because the first round messed up.
Just try it again but keep it Pokémon related. This is a Pokémon Website after all.
The caesar code is a common encryption method that has been invented about 2,000 years ago. With a bit of thinking & trying it out, you can "easily" solve it. No need to watch a TV show or whatsoever.
Also thanks everyone for the nice words :) Don't get the impression that I'm totally upset because of this; I'm not.
I was afraid that it might be ruined due to spoilers right from the beginning. But I'm a kind-hearted person who believed in people's fairness :b And therefore I wanted to try, since it was a great event in my opinion.
But, since the numbers and statistics are quite obvious, we cannot do such an event again. We don't want to reward cheaters.
Don't worry, I'll try to come up with other super awesome fun events in the future :) Just not one's that can be ruined by spoilers.
