She isn't a normal type anyway)

Courtney thought she spotted Zoroark so she sent out Camerupt. She tilted her head slightly, giving her Pokémon the signal to use Smoke Screen. She returned it just as quick and dove into the undergrowth.

(Wait.. wait... I didn't mean for it to die. O_o
I was moreover thinking of exaggerated shonens where the characters take a lot of damage, but still survive somehow. Think about the Pokemon anime, I feel that all of those extreme explosions would result in someone's death.. at least one throughout the entire series... but nah. Just a few scratches. I mean... at least a faint for your Altaria, unless you're going for realism.

(Which kind of damage do the characters get from attacks?
...So do the characters take damage and have scratches only?
ex. Pokemon, where explosions and stuff, but no death.
Shonen style with scratches and stuff and no/not so much death?
ex. Fairy Tail
Shonen style with bleeding/gore and stuff with no/not so much death?
ex. idk any actually
Shonen style with bleeding/gore and stuff with death?
ex. One Piece/Fullmetal Alchemist
Shonen style with a bunch of gore and death?

Since nobody did anything (quite literally anyway), Kisuke jumped up. He started to charge up momentum in his sword so that he might be able to strike down the poor Altaria. With a beam of light, he launches one of his Doublades at Altaria...

Courtney hissed. "Camerupt! Go! Use Lava Plume when you get the chance!" she yowled. She flicked her dark purple-grey tail as Camerupt was sent out. The fiery rocks shot out and slammed into the ground.
