Musicians Unite Again!
Forum-Index → Fan Clubs → Inactive Clubs → Musicians Unite Again!I was advised by my pulmonologist that swimming on a regular basis works best for my lungs. My dad plays wind instruments and he does that too, saying that it helps him play. You might want to try it some time ^_^ Swimming rocks! :D
In any case, huzzah, page two!
I hadn't thought about that. It makes sense, though. ^^ I can swim, but (like with a lot of things these days, oops) I'm a tad out of practice. The only pools around here are ones you have to pay/be part of a club for. There aren't any near my place, either. ._.
Has anyone ever tried playing the harp? I was discussing it with a group of friends the other day, and it sounds like it would be hard to learn and play in tune. o_O
I have tried playing the harp, but it was during when I was a kid and the harp was reeeeaaaally old. I doubt that it is still in tune and I wasn't even serious about playing it, just trying it out I guess XD It was still fun to play though. I wish I could do that again and actually learn it >w<
Nickname(s): Um.... None I suppose, unless you make one up. :3

Instruments you play: Piano and oboe. I also play clarinet, but my cousin is borrowing it for her schooling.
Anything else?: • I just started to learn oboe about a year ago or so
• I'm currently working on creating two duets with my friend in or free time
• I'm a soprano, but can sing some lower notes with more comfort.
• I to act and write very complicated and hard to understand stories
• I'm totally into When they Cry. <3 <3 <3
• I like pasta. And cats. Hence my username.
I guess we could call you PC for short...or just Pasta. Or just Cat. Actually, never mind, I think Pasta Cat is best.
I haven't played an oboe in a long time, though I'm sure I would still enjoy it.
What kind of piano do you have? How experienced are you in piano? What genre of stories do you write?

Anything else:if anyone have a tips about performing onstage please help me i'm having a little trouble about performing onstage
I honestly have no idea how recorders sound like *braces for a beating* But there is youtube for that! *browses* XD I might as well search for an Oboe because that's foreign to me as well TwT
You can try to chew gum, Dea! :D If you're not going to sing, that is..
The few times I have had to play the piano/flute in front of other people, I promise myself a chocolate bar or something when I'm done. Mmm, chocolate...as long as you're not distracted by thinking about it the whole time you're up there, haha. ^^; Sadly, I can't chew gum because of my braces, but that's a good tip for when I get them off. ^^
Oh, right, I still haven't added you to the list...oops, I'll do that now.
So here's some things to keep in mind:
-If you make a mistake, just keep going as if you didn't. Chances are that if you are playing to a general audience, they won't know the difference. (trust me, mistakes always sound much worse to you than they do to your audience ;) )
-Take some nice deep breaths before you go on and after you come off. Breathing sounds like such a simple thing but it's often the first thing we forget to do properly when we are nervous. ;)
-Find out what relaxes you, and do that just before and just after. It could be listening to your favorite song on an ipod/mp3 for example.
-Try not to go over your performance in your head to much as soon as you finish. Give yourself a break: the performance is over and whether or not you made a mistake, you can't change it now, so take some pride in the fact that you had the courage to do what many people don't.
-See if you can arrange a "dress rehearsal" a few days beforehand in front of family and friends. Gradually invite more people as your confidence grows.
-Believe you can do it, and you will. I know it sounds corny, but it's true. Some clever old person once said that "if you don't think you can do it, the battle is already lost." So just before you go on stage, tell yourself (out loud works best) "I can do this, I will succeed."
-(Last one, I promise :P ) If you forget/ignore everything else, just remember this. Music is made for enjoyment, so have fun and smile and your audience will too.
Hope this helps, it helped me when I first started anyways.
Edit: :O Woah, sorry for the super long post, I didn't realize I had written so much...
Just a note i have played piano for 7 years.so i don't know why did i suddenly feel so nervous in front of the audience after a long time.maybe it's because i have ever felt guilty to my parents.anyway thanjs for your advice

Aside that fact, I'm probably going to only occasionally play the recorder because I think it's going to drop (Only two or three more classes left) until next year.
Also, anybody have summer plans in relation to music? :3
Congrats Oddball! :D Do you think you'd be able to show us your performances? :3
For the summer part, I have been learning how to mix behind the audio tech booth, along with setting up the gear for the band before gigs. It's quite fun being able to play with the effects and tone quality while they're playing ^__^
Lately, I am working on a new original composition, and I am working up on using the harmonica (just a little bit since I don't really know how to use it properly), classic and bass guitar. But since I've just watched The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug about an hour ago...
... I have set the composition aside for a while and now trying to play this by ear with the guitar:
"I See Fire" - Ed Sheeran
The plucking and blending for the whole song is just beautiful! >w<
