Please feel free to Pal Pad me any feedback you might have
I stood behind the one way glass, watching the young man in the room. On the desk in front of me sat a file, labeled, CONFIDENTIAL: FOR YOUR EYES ONLY. Below that were the words that had caused so many so much grief. Project Awoken. I stared at the boy in the room, trussed up in a straightjacket and chained to the floor. He didn’t look like anything special. Just an average teenager. Snatching up the top file, I flipped it open to the first page.

Project Awoken: Subject 1911
Project Name: Kinderfusser
Birth Name: Derrick Souza
Current Alias: SK

As I read the door of the interrogation room opened. Glancing up, I saw two officers enter. They would be the ones to try and get information out of the kid. If he had any accomplices and such. My eyes wandered back to the page. As I skimmed the boys brief history section, I could hear the senior officer begin speaking. "Why'd ya... Why'd ya do it kid?" A long pause. The other officer stood in the corner behind the boy, his arms crossed, and a look of barely contained rage on his face. The Senior rubbed his face, apparently trying to focus himself before continuing. "Do you have any idea what you've done?" The chains clinked as he raised his head, staring directly into the officer's eyes. Then he began to laugh. A sick, twisted, psychotic laugh filled with villainous glee. Shivers ran down my spine like you wouldn't believe. It felt like my heart was seizing up, and ice ran through my veins. The younger cop slammed a fist on the table. "You sick bastard!" He cried. "Because of you, dozens of families are at the cemetery. You are the most vile piece of scum I have ever had to deal with!" The boy sighed, a wide smirk stretching across his face. "Oh you think I'm bad do you? You don't even know the meaning of the word! Just wait till you meet "The Scissor Witch." Now there's one bad bitch. And that's saying something, coming from me." He glanced up at the clock. "Would you look at that? 19:11. Sorry boys, but I really must be going." The Senior glared at him. "What are you talking about kid? You're not going anywhere for a long t-" There was a flash of movement, and the walls were painted red. The kid had managed to cut himself free of the jacket with a beautiful, ornate letter opener. How had he even gotten that?! The senior officer clutched at his throat, which now sported a large red smile. The other man fell back in shock as blood spurted out of the wound. The boy moved fast, plunging the blade into his heart. Pulling it back out, he swung several more times at whatever hallucinations his schizophrenic mind had conjured up, as both officers lay dying. The one with the slit throat began to gag and sputter, as blood drained into his lungs, drowning him. I stood in shock, unable to process what had just happened. The boy turned to look me dead in the eye. Somehow, he knew I was in here. He grinned wildly, placing his blood soaked hands against the glass. "Tell everyone what you saw here. Make them fear us. For we are Awoken. And we're coming for you."

Snip. Snip. Snip. The sound ran through me like a beautiful melody, filling my mind with bliss. Snip. Snip. Snip. The sound was pure and clear, a pair of virgin blades, undefiled by the blood of innocents. I hoped to remedy that soon. The night air was clear and cool as I sat on a bench, a folded newspaper in my hand. As I snipped at the paper absent mindedly, I pondered the article I had just read. It had been about the sudden appearance of several new serial killers in the area, warning people to stay safe until the police could get hold of the situation. The paper had also provided descriptions of a few of the culprits. Personally, I thought they made my nose out to be much too large, and the hair was completely the wrong shade. Oh well, what can you do? Besides, I had been more interested in the other killers. One that had caught my eye was a tall pale kid named Derrick Souza, also known as the Kinderfusser. I don't know what it was, but something about the guy, the way he held himself, the look of absolute psychotic glee in his eyes, I couldn't help but find... Attractive. I shook myself. No time for thoughts like that. I was a killer, a sociopath of the highest order. A twig snapped in the trees to my left. Dropping the shredded paper onto the cobble path at my feet, I rose quickly, turning towards the sound. A tall man, in his early thirties by the look of it, stepped out of a break in the trees. He wore a long blue trench coat, made from some kind of rough looking wool, alpaca maybe? Atop his head sat an old time tri point hat, like pirates used to wear. He had a long tanned face, with a chin covered in stubble. Spotting me he smirked. "What're ya doin out here at this time of night little lady? Haven't ya heard. There's a bunch of killers on the loose." He eyed me, sizing me up, with his gaze finally landing on my weapon. "Well would ya look at that. Seems as though I may have just found one of 'em. You're the one they been callin the Scissor Witch huh? Never thought I'd actually get to meet ya." I tightened my grip on my scissors, feeling the cold metal bite at my skin. "Maybe I am. What's it to you?" The man held his hands out, taking a step back as he did. "Whoa now. No need for hostilities. I just want to talk." I didn't relax my hold on the scissors. I wasn't going to trust him, but as long as he stayed back we wouldn't have a problem. "Then talk." I growled. "First, allow me to introduce myself." The man removed his hat, making a theatrical bow. " I be known as Percival, and I'm what ya might call... a professional serial killer. I've come to talk to you about your killings." My eyes narrowed at that. Who did this guy think he was, trying to get me to stop? I felt a swing coming, and depending on where it went, things might get messy. "When you've been doing this as long as I have, you come to realize that serial killer is a very prestigious line of work, with a large, well organized community. When a newbie like you shows up, killing left and right, it upsets the whole balance of things. That's where I come in. I've come lookin for the lot of you "Awoken" or whatever ye be calling yourselves, to offer my services as... A sort of mentor. I would show you the ropes, get you all prepped to merge well with the killing community, then send you on your way." I frowned. The man's offer sounded reasonable enough, but was I really going to just trust some guy off the street? "Well Pirate Percy," I said, placing my scissors into my pocket. "I'll think about it, but no promises." The man nodded, turning back to the trees. "I understand. If ye decide to take up my offer, just come back to this bench." As he started off, he called back over his shoulder. "Just remember, not all killers are as agreeable as I. If you continue this murderous rampage, they will come for you. It won't end well." And with that, he was gone. Turning, I began to walk towards a row of shops in the opposite direction. As I did, the swing hit, and my body convulsed slightly. A rage ran through me, tearing at my insides, and screaming for blood. My eyes locked on a couple out for an evening stroll. Stop my rampage? Not likely.

Sunlight warms my eyelids as it filters through a crack in the boarded window. I shift slightly and pain rips across my head. Good God what a hangover! I peel my eye open, shielding the, from the light with my hand. Something drips off the claw tipped fingers of my glove. Blood. A little unexpected, but not terribly unusual. Something is on my face. I reach with my other hand, feeling the hard plastic of a mask. Well at least I know who was in control last night. Definitely explains the blood. I lift myself slowly upwards, my head still throbbing. Looking around, I see several empty whisky bottles. I let out a sigh. At this rate he's going to drink me out of house and home. Stumbling to the sink, I reached up, pulling a bottle of alchi seltzer off the top shelf. As I poured out a few tablets, I noticed a piece of paper resting next to the sink. I picked it up, grabbing a glass down from another shelf. I flipped it open.

Hey big boy, thanks for showing me the time of my life last night
If you ever need somebody to keep you cozy for a while, give me a call

Anger coursed through me like fire, searing my mind and boiling in my veins. How dare he. "God damn it." I mutter through gritted teeth. I threw the glass at the wall, shattering it. I watched the pieces fall to the ground, fractured like my mind. "Damn you Fallen!" I screamed. "I can put up with the drinking, and the fighting, and the killing, but this... This is too far!" A deep, smooth voice entered my mind. "I meant to get rid of that... Now, now, look what you've done. You're going to have to clean all that up now." I clenched my eyes shut, slamming my fists down on the counter. "GET OUT OF MY HEAD!" The voice tisked at me. "Foolish boy. You know I can't do that. We are one and the same."
"I-I have a girlfriend. How could you make me do that? How could you have me put her through this?"
"I didn't make you do anything. I simply gave us what we wanted. Last night, we didn't love your girlfriend, we loved that other woman. What was her name? Anne. We didn't care about Misery. We wanted Anne."
I tore the mask off, throwing it behind me. "You bastard." I growled. "Leave me..." "Very well. For now. Just remember one thing. Killian is Fallen" He sank back into my subconscious. I turned, leaning against the counter. Tears threatened to run, as my eyes landed on the mask. It stared up at me, it's white toothy grin seeming to mock my distress. What am I really on the inside? My mind is so broken that I'm not really sure anymore. Maybe I'm not even the real me. Perhaps I'm just one of the pretenders, just another invader, taking what isn't mine. Is he right? Is that mask who I truly am. Am I Fallen? I shook my head. No. That could never be the real me. Walking back to my makeshift bed of old blankets and a futon, I tried to calm my mind. It was time to have a little chat with myself. Sitting down cross legged, I placed my hands in my pockets. I leaned back into the wall, trying to let all thoughts slip from my mind. I began to walk in my mind. Out of the darkness. Into the light.
I opened my eyes. I stood in the center of a medical examination room, with a large operation table in the center. I had once again returned to my mind palace. This was where I went whenever I needed to remember something, or when I got to stressed. At least I used to. Before the others came, and before the blank spot. The blank spot was a large gap in my mind, a period of time that I could not remember. And it was big. My last memories before the gap were from my twelfth birthday party. Derrick had one as well, about six years of complete amnesia. The thing even had a representation in my palace, in the form of a sheer empty void, stretching infinitely beyond the double doors. I rarely visited this place, since it was the hiding spot for the others.

"Oh? Come to fight me on my own turf now have you?"

Fallen materialized, leaning against the low counter in the corner. In here everything was shown for what it truly was, with no mask to hide behind. He looked like a burn victim, or as if all his skin had be torn off, leaving only red muscle left. His face sported sharp fangs and deep set yellow eyes. He pushed himself upwards, strolling towards me slowly, his bird like feet clicking on the tile. He stopped, his soulless eyes boring into me like drills. I shook off my apprehension.

"You forget that this is my palace Fallen, not yours. I'm not here for you. Where are the others?" He frowned, obviously disappointed in my lack of aggression. He turned, exposing his back to me. From his shoulder blades, two long white bones protruded, both snapped off half way down.

"Nobody's ever here for me..." He said, slowly dissipating. I turned, calling out as I did "Come out everyone. I know you're listening."

Three shapes form, quickly transforming into my other personalities. Neverlight stepped forward. He was basically the leader, even if Fallen would never admit it.

"What brings you here to us friend?" I relaxed slightly. Neverlight had always puzzled me. Where the others wanted to kill above all else, he had always been different. As far as I knew, he had never killed anyone at all. He was dressed in traditional plague doctor garb, complete with mask and medical bag, but his appearance always seemed to shift between that of a doctor, and that of a giant vulture, with burgundy feathers.

"I..." I tried to steel my nerves. What's the matter with me? Why do I feel nervous at all? I'm basically talking to myself here! I sighed. People kept telling me that these people were just separate parts of me, but I never really believed it. They were just so different. How could they possibly be the same person? Shaking my head slightly I started again. "I... I need your guys help." Neverlight cocked his bald head, staring at me intently with his pure black eyes. With a snap of his beak he reverted to human form.

"Our help? And may I ask what with?" I was about to speak when I was interrupted by a loud snarl. My other two personalities were squaring off in the corner. The one who had made the animalistic noise was Riot. Of my four personalities Riot was by far the strangest. She looked like a human crossed with a fox. She stood about five feet tall counting her pointed ear, which were perched atop her head. The things could swivel almost 180% allowing her to pick up even the slightest noise. Her body was covered in yellow fur, and her fingers and toes sported long curved claws. Her face had a long snout like a wolf, complete with fangs, and her eyes were a toxic shade of green. The most noticeable feature however, were her tails. Three long yellow fox tails flowed behind her, each tipped in a vibrant shade of purple. They flipped to and too and fro, moving as if they had a mind of their own. At first I wasn't terribly comfortable having a naked anthropomorphic fox in my mind, but you would be surprised how quickly you can become adjusted to such things. I mean, she's me, so it's not that weird. Right?

Actually I still wasn't comfortable with it, but I had learned how keep my eyes focused elsewhere. I turned my attention back on the fight that was about to break out. Riot was currently trying to defend a few pieces of candy she had swiped from my final personality, Candy Pop. Candy Pop was an immensely tall man, about nine or ten feet, dressed in a horribly obnoxious blue and purple jester outfit. He even had the jingle bell hat. His skin was bleach white and his mouth was filled with massive needle like teeth. The teeth were so large that they didn't fit right in his mouth causing him to have a perpetual smile. Despite his appearance, he honestly wouldn't have been that bad of a guy, if not for the fact that he was completely psychotic. I don't know what part of my brain he came from, but it was a messed up place. Normally he was freakishly happy, almost giddy, and would laugh and crack awful jokes. He also however, had a terrifying temper. And he wouldn't hesitate to tear the organs out of anyone who upsets him.

"Give me back my candy bitch, or else!" He screeched at Riot. She growled, obviously ready to fight, but I could tell she was scared. She didn't think she could win this one. I quickly moved between them, turning to Candy Pop.

"Back off. It's just a bit of candy. Why do you even care? You can produce the stuff on command, and it's not even real." He scowled at me, his red eyes blazing with hate.

"I care because it's mine..." He was about to say more when Fallen appeared, placing a hand on the man's elbow.

"Cool it kid. We've got more important stuff to deal with right now." Candy frowned slightly, but finally turned his back to us.

"Fine. Keep the stupid candy." Candy respected Fallen with something akin to worship. He always listened to him, no matter what, even if it was against his usual nature. I felt something warm press up against my back. I tensed slightly when I realized that it was Riot. She rubbed her cheek against mine, purring as she did so. She quickly went back to her candy. I was quite surprised. She had never shown any sort of affection towards anyone before. When it came to the others she openly despised them, but this was more than I had ever expected to see. I just hoped she didn't make a habit of it. I wasn't at all comfortable with her pressing herself against me like that. Shaking myself out of the stupor, I turned to the others.

"You may have already guessed why I'm here but I'll say it anyways. We need to do something about this situation." I crossed my arms and sighed. "We need to get rid of the gap."

Fallen huffed. "Is that all? I thought you were going to talk about our little 'episodes'." A small smirk crept across his face. "If I'm going to help you with anything, it's going to be the screaming seizure fits. Your memories mean nothing to me." Neverlight placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Come now, let's at least hear him out. He wouldn't have come to us without some kind of leverage."

I nodded at him. "I believe that the fits are directly caused by my memory loss. If we get rid of it then they should stop." I began to pace. "We need to go back to the place this all started. The abandoned amusement where we woke up. We might be able to find some kind of clue there." I stopped, hesitating for a moment, then continued.

"Also, if we are able to retrieve my memories, I will allow each of you two weeks of uninterrupted control, without resistance. You may do as you please in that time." I eyed Fallen. "Whatever it may be." His eyes gleamed, and with a chuckle he stepped forward, extending his hand.

"Deal."

I moved silently down the dark hallway, being careful not to come into view of the security cameras at the end. It was currently pointed down the other hall, giving me a short opportunity to sneak up on it. I pressed myself up into the corner below it, praying that as it turned that it wouldn't catch sight of me. A soft whir broke the silence, the camera slowly spinning left. When no alarms sounded, I bolted down the hall to the office at the end. I grabbed at the knob. Locked! Panicking slightly, I quickly looked around. Spotting an air vent, I thought I had found a miraculous answer to my problem. What I actually found was, unlike in Hollywood, air vent grates are screwed into the wall, and do not just pop off. I cursed under my breath as the camera slowly turned back to my hallway. The alarms sounded almost immediately.

"Well this is just freaking great! My first actual job and I completely botch the whole thing." I turned back to the door. "You know what? Screw it." I threw myself at the door, smashing through the cheap wood on the second try. "Good thing it wasn't solid oak. I might have broken my shoulder." I muttered. I really need to stop talking to myself. A fat little man in a ball cap stared at me in shock. He was holding a sports jacket in one hand and a small briefcase in the other.

"My word! Who are you?" I rolled my eyes. I was not going to start monologuing. That would only end up getting me caught. Instead, I pulled out a small knife and hurled it at the man, lodging the blade between his eyes. The freshly made corpse fell backwards, twitching, as blood began to pool. I returned to the "open" door, and weighed my options. I could either try to make a stealthy retreat, without any trouble, or I could fight through all of security and make a total badass exit through the front doors. I grinned, pulling out my twin extended clip pistols. I do love a good fight scene... Fifteen minutes and twelve bodies later, I was standing in an alley a few blocks away. I checked my watch. 9:37. He should be here by now. I tall man in a suit moved quickly into the alley. He was nervous as hell, looking over his shoulder ever two seconds. Might as well be walking backwards. I stepped forward.

"Well?" He jumped at my voice, and took a step back. "Sweet Christ woman, I said to kill Jacobs not shoot up the whole damn building!"

I rolled my eyes. "Look you're the one who hired a part time serial killer. I got your man, now where's the money?" He passed me the thin metal briefcase he was holding. "500 as promised."
My knife was to his throat faster than he could blink.

"Bullshit. We agreed on a thousand." He glared at me.

"What we agreed on was one body, not thirteen. Consider it damages reduction." I gave the walking cockroach my best growl. His face hardened. "Take the money and go. You kill me and my men will hunt you down." I thought about stabbing him for a moment, but instead settled on a crack across his jaw. The blow sent him to the pavement. I stomped away, fury clouding my mind. Instinctively, my mind guided me back to The Institution. I used my key on the basement hatch, climbing down into the hole before locking it behind me. I had grown to love this old building in the few months I had spent here. It used to be an asylum back in the 80's, hence the name, but it closed down years ago. Once my mentor had cleaned all the druggies out, it had become our base of operations, helping struggling killers back on their feet and teaching new ones how to function in the serial killer community. Yeah, I know it sounds weird and kind of twisted, but killers need help too. I headed up to my wing on the third floor. Tossing the case on my small cot I went to the ramshackle balcony. Leaning against the railing, my mind couldn't help but wander to the subject of my missing boyfriend. I had hoped that Killian might have shown up, or at least one of his personas, but no. I had been terribly worried about him ever since he disappeared a few weeks ago. He sometimes disappeared for a few day when one of the others took over, but never for this long. I remember he told me that Fallen had been getting more and more aggressive, trying to forcibly take control. I let out a short laugh. Becoming this guy's girlfriend was like becoming four guys girlfriend. I tallied of the names in my mind. Fallen Angel, the psychopathic Candy Pop, the ever mysterious Neverlight, and Riot. Riot isn't actually a human though, so really it's only three. I heard a knock behind me. Turning, I smiled at the sight of that familiar pirate hat. Percy was leaning into the open doorway, his fist pressed against the frame.

"Is this a bad time?" I shook my head. He came out onto the balcony, leaning next to me. "So I heard ye first job didn't go quite as planned." I frowned. Had the news spread that fast?

"It's not like it was a secret. Ye did kill thirteen people in a building with the alarms going off." I shook my head. Honestly, it was like he could read my mind sometimes. He nudged my arm.

"Somethin else is gettin at yer goat. Come on let's hear it." I sighed, placing my head in my hands.

"I don't know. It just seems like everything is unraveling. First there was Derrick going absolutely out of his mind, then Killian, and now this! I just really can't see how this is all going to work out." Percy shrugged.

"Te be honest, neither can I. For all we know it may not work out. Everything might come apart and leave us lying in the mud. But that doesn't mean we give up. Just because it's hard doesn't mean we shouldn't try. It's up to you and me to make sure that things work out the way we want. Shape our own destiny and all that." He placed his arm around my shoulder, giving me a comforting hug. "And don't ye be worrying about your boyfriend. He's tougher than he looks. I'm sure he's fine." I smiled, a genuinely happy smile. Percy was like the older brother I never had, and was one of the closest things I had to family. I really don't know what I would do without him.

"Anyway, I got you some take out from that Indian place down the street in case you're hungry. I've got a couple errands to run, then I'll be turnin in for the night. Goodnight love." He left, leaving me alone with my thoughts once again. As I was about to go back inside I spotted movement on the roof across the street. I man sprinted across it, a white kyuubi mask hiding his face. My heart skipped a beat. Riot! In a flash I was over the railing, falling Assassins Creed style into a waiting dumpster. I had filled the thing with foam months ago, for just such an emergency. Frantically, I scrambled to my feet and scanned the roofs. There! A few blocks ahead, Riot was going full tilt across the buildings, leaping and sliding as gracefully as any parkour master.

"Hey! Wait up!" I shouted, racing after her. She glanced back, slowing slightly, but not stopping. Soon I had caught up and was running alongside, glad for all those hours of track. Riot looked down at me. She made a throaty, high pitched noise, which vaguely resemble the noise velociraptors made in Jurassic Park. She turned sharply, racing along an alleyway. I followed, noticing a series of fire escapes. Realizing what she wanted, I threw myself upward, pushing off garbage can. I rose quickly, using the escapes to propel myself higher. With one final push I flew up into open air. Time seemed to slow. I hung in the silence, empty of everything but me. Then I felt arms wrap around my waist, as Riot threw herself across the open expanse. My direction changed to sideways and we tumbled onto the next building. We rolled for a second, before coming to a halt near an air duct, me lying on top. Sure I could have just climbed the escape and gotten less bruises, but what fun would that be? I gave her a crushing hug.

"Where have you been?! I've been so worried! Not that I couldn't survive without you, I mean I was fine and I even made some money, but I missed you. You just disappeared one day, not even a note! What was I to think?" I snapped my mouth shut as I noticed the air of extreme confusion emanating from Riot. I lifted myself upright, sitting on her stomach, and snapped my fingers.

"Oi! Out. I want to talk with my boyfriend." She growled sullenly, but knew better than to disobey. When I said out, you got out. Killian shuddered slightly beneath me, gasping.

"What happened? Are we there yet?"

I grinned. "I don't know where you're talking about, but I'm right here." He bolted upright, almost knocked me over. "Misery!" He quickly pulled off the mask, tossing it aside. I put my arms around his neck.

"You know I hate that name."

He smiled at me, a big dopey grin. I laughed. I couldn't be mad at him, even with that stupid pet name. I kissed him, loving the feel of his lips on mine. God, how I've missed that. He pulled away first, stupid boy, and stared into my eyes. "I'm so glad to see you! Where have you been?" I stood, pulling him up as well.

"Where have I been? Where have you been you doofinshmirtz?! You just up and disappeared!" He rubbed the back of his head sheepishly, as blood filled his cheeks. "Yeah. About that. I kind of got caught up in a storm of personalities. I just needed to make sure you weren't near them, especially Fallen." I frowned slightly. I knew he was just trying to protect me, but I'm a big girl. I can take care of myself. "For all I knew you were dead." My voice broke on the last word. He pulled me close suddenly, nuzzling my cheek. "I'm so, so sorry. I never meant to worry you like that. I- I just wanted to keep you safe." The embrace caught me off guard. He wasn't usually the one to initiate things like this, not that was complaining. The boy certainly needed to work on his self confidence. I leaned back, looking into his eyes.

"Now honestly, how am I supposed to be mad at you when you do something like that? You just can't let it be easy for me, can you?" Smiling slightly, he went to kiss me, but stopped short. His pupils dilated until they filled his iris with black, and his head jerked slightly. When he spoke his voice was deep, and as smooth as silk.

"Get on with the mission boy, we don't have all night!"

His shoulders sagged as he regained control. Shaking his head he muttered, "Damn you Fallen. Why can't you give me just one minute of happiness?"(will add more later)

Welcome To The Family
