"Look! Sneasel!" David called out, jumping down from Drifblim and running through the Litwicks. Quickly he snatched her from the ground, holding her close in his arms, her shivering frigid body welcoming him with teary eyes.
"Sneasel! Sneasel!"
"Sneasel I was so worried, are you trying to find Luna too?"
"Sneasel!" Hopping down from his grasp, Sneasel pointed through the gap in the smog, held open by the many Froslass using Ice Beam. Jason came up behind them, staring at this dark void in the wall, swallowing his fears with fists clenched.
"I don't have any Pokemon," he admitted, "but I'll still fight with all I got."
"Me too, you ready Sneasel?"
"Sneasel." She gave a nod watching as the Litwicks stormed in. Without a speech or a prayer, David and Jason rushed into the darkness, disappearing from sight.
Claire awoke slowly, noticing her Pumpkaboo blanket and pillow and mattress had all fled. Similar to a mother hearing her newborn cry in the middle of the night, Claire rose to her feet following a sad noise of a sobbing Pumpkaboo. "Hmm? Hello?" She called out, heading upstairs, squinting in the dark with no Litwicks to light her way. "Anyone home?"
"Ugh, Claire? Is that you?"
"Lora?" Carefully going up the stairs, Lora extended her hands out, feeling around in the dark, "Lora where are--oh!"
"Ow!" Claire quickly took key hand away from Lora's cheek, feeling around to grab her hand. "What's up with no lights? I get up to get some water and can't even make it to the stairs."
"I think something's wrong, do you hear that?"
"Hear what?" Claire led Lora towards the wailing of Pumpkaboos, feeling her way around carefully. Eventually Luna's room emitted cries loud enough for Lora to hear. The door was cracked but revealed no light, only sad Pumpkaboo voices. Claire headed in first, Lora close behind, both noticing the swirling dark vortex above the bed. A group of Pumpkaboos bounced on the bed in attempts to reach the vortex, all too young to levitate on their own, struggling to even walk. "What is this?"
"Like a... portal?" Lora asked as she stared up at it, "It might explain where everyone went.
"Should we go inside?"
"Without Pokemon? Heals? Repels? No way, we should prepare, who knows what's in there...?"
"Jason? Are you there?" David coughed with his hand over his mouth and nose, holding Sneasel's hand with his other."
"I'm here," he coughed pushing forward in the smog, "I see light. Come on, just a bit further!"
"Snea...sel..." Sneasel coughed as the poisonous gases began to flow into her body, her head beginning to spin, and vision blurring. But she continued to follow her Master, despite the churning in her stomach and the burning in her eyes.
"Hm? Look." Jason whispered as they entered a bubble of air, exposing a large room with light and colors. They hid behind the bookshelf in front of them, observing their new surroundings.
"See, Master? Aren't you happy?" David and Jason gasped at the voice, hearing the creature leaking the gas from its mouth as it hovered above the floor. It appeared to be smiling, David swallowed hard seeing a row of teeth hidden in its mouth, more fearsome than any other Pokemon he'd seen before.
"It's just us, like always, and I'll keep you safe here. Just like before." Luna sat trapped in a dark orb, appearing made by Mega Haunter, his hands rubbing around it as if sculpting it out. "No one will hurt you here, and you can always smile here, with me." Luna held her hands against the barrier, as if searching for a gap or a way out, eyes wide with worry.
Title: Chapter 4 Part 3
"I don't know but... it looks like a Haunter. What do we do?"
"We have to save Luna, so we should battle it. Do you think Sneasel is ready?" David looked down to his Sneasel, eyes wide as she began to vomit on the wooden floor, boards letting out a deafening creak.
"Hm?" Haunter turned to the bookshelf, eyes slender as the trainers revealed themselves, now defenseless with Sneasel sick, lying down on her side. "You. The man who took her heart away! Return it to me!"
"What's he talking about?" Jason asked seeing David's face quickly turn red.
"You kidnap her over her heart?! What are you thinking?!"
"I will keep her safe no matter what." Mega Haunter grumbled, hovering before Luna's prison, "Your pathetic stance and fearful eyes only make me stronger. I can see now, your tainted desires, your horrible pasts, presents, even futures! I am all knowing! I am a legend!" Mega Haunter threw up his arms, shaking the ground underneath and cracking the wood like glass. David and Jason took hold of the bookshelf for support, the ground beginning to crumble underneath them. "Return her heart to me!"
"I don't have it!" David shouted griping on the shelves as the ground shook.
"Lies! I saw you take it! I will force you to give it back!" The ceilings shattered and broke like mirror fragments, a shard cutting David across the face, blood drilling down his neck. He hissed in pain holding his cut, body trembling as the bookshelf was brought off the floor.
"Put us down, Haunter!" Jason demanded, dangling from the side of the bookshelf, "You're a Pokemon remember? You're acting like,"
"Like what?! Human?!" His third eye opened wide, launching the shelf against what was left of the wall, breaking it into glass, the boys left cut and bloody. "You don't understand the pain of it all! My master crying everyday, going days without eating, wishing nothing but happiness on others and then what?! You all come in to strip my brothers and sisters from their home and trap them in balls! I thought it was just you three, but no! The world outside world is like this!"
"It hurts." Jason hissed, pulling out a sliver of glass from his palm, "David, we have to fight, Sneasel we need you." Sneasel was motionless on the floor, body facing away from them, showing no signs of breathing,
"You are not so strong, Jason." Haunter hissed, snatching the man in his hand, squeezing him tight. "You live through the success of your Pokemon. I've seen it now, your Gallade fighting for your love, worshiping the ground you walk on, and what do you do?"
He squeezed tighter, Jason screaming as his bones began to crack, "You shove him in a box! You show him off and use him to fight your wars, and you? You feel nothing!" Mega Haunter's mouth opened wide, releasing a horrible poisonous haze. Jason screamed and cried as the cloud burned his eyes and dried his mouth. "That is what poison feels like! Would you fight to feel that?! Would you endure this pain?!"
"Haunter stop!" David pleaded, Mega Haunter glaring at him as he held Jason in his hand, "This is between us, right?! Leave Jason out of it!"
"It's all humans! You took and took and took from her, and now look? No food, no money, no life, falling in love with the first man she sees, the first man to take advantage of a damaged heart! You are all to blame and I will end you all here in my world! I will make a perfect world for my Master! A world without selfish defiant humans like you!"
"Jason!" David reached out feeling glass digging into his skin. Jason cried out, body cracking, blood dripping from his leg and on the floor. Luna pounded on her prison, screaming but unable to be heard, slamming her body against the wall.
"Let go of my boyfriend you ugly coward!" A demanding voice was followed by a large of ball of light, "Whimsicott use Moonblast!" Before Mega Haunter could react, the effective attack landed in his face pushing him back, his strong grip releasing Jason onto the ground. David turned to the path created, seeing Lora with napkin over her mouth and backpack on her shoulder. "Go, hit him again!"
"Whim!" Again another blast was released from the Whimsicott's mouth. Mega Haunter extended his hand, pushing boards of wood to his defense, blocking the attack.
"Big Brother!" Claire appeared from behind Lora, rushing over with a backpack on her as well, dropping to her knees beside him. "I have to help him! He--He's not moving."
"Whimsicott don't stop attacking!" Lora demanded as she rushed to Sneasel, reaching into the side of her backpack.
"Whimsicott!"
"Foolish puny brat!" Haunter grunted as he summoned another wall to block the attack. Lora sprayed Sneasel with a poison heal, force feeding her a Pecha Berry. Claire rubbed on her brother's back, in hopes to wake him up, his eyes shut and mouth opened but no movement.
"Come on, wake up! Wake up! Please!"
"Whimsicott!" Again another blast, tearing through Mega Haunter's defense, sending him against Luna's prison, the orb slightly cracking.
"You pathetic ball of fluff I will end you here and now!"
"Is that Pokemon talking?" Lora asked with Sneasel in her arms, shaking her awake, "David what's happening?!"
"No time!" David grunted, standing to his feet, "I need a Pokemon! A fairy type, now!" Lora reached in her bag, tossing out a Pokeball to him, "Get Jason and Sneasel out of here!"
"What about you?" Lora asked, quickly ducking as a shadow ball was fired in her direction. "We can't leave you!"
"Go! Before this world kills you!" David demanded, releasing the Pokemon in the ball, seeing a Floette before him. "Floette use, uh, Fairy Wind!"
"Floette!" In an elegant dance, Floette summoned a source of wind, slicing through Mega Haunter, providing cover for Lora and Claire to carry Jason and flee.
"Sneasel, you should run too!"
"Sneasel." She shook her head, with a weak hand she formed a fist, sticking her finger upwards as David has taught her. "Sne... I will always... stay by your side..." David listened closely, hearing a voice he'd only heard in his dreams, hearing his Pokemon speak, the world was taking effect.
"If you stand by this thief then you shall perish with him!" Mega Haunter eyes flashed white, Floette blinking rapidly. Suddenly a yellow orb was released from his chest, hovering over to the distracted Pokemon.
"Pretty little sun," Floette whispered as she began to dance with it, "how cute and pretty you are, hehe."
"What the?" David asked, understanding the words of Pokemon, his head feeling lighter, "What did you do?!"
"You call it Confuse Ray. But the problem with you is much different.
"Master," Sneasel spoke, his eyes still wide in amazement, "we cannot stay here, you cannot stay here. You're dying, Master! We have to get you out."
"I'm not leaving without Luna."
"Then you will die here!" Haunter opened his mouth wide, summoning the shadows of the room, forming a ball in front of him.
"Quick Floette, use Fairy Wind!"
"Wheee!" She laughed as she spun in a circle with the yellow orb. The summoned wind spun as she did, greeting her full circle, slamming her down to the ground. "Ow! Don't play so rough little sun." She cried from her own attack, David scooping her up from the ground as the ball was launched at them. The ball fell into the ground, releasing dark haze from the ground. Something bellow was rumbling, stirring, a strong power awakening as the battle ensued.
"Stand still and face your fate!" Mega Haunter demanded as his mouth released a poisonous mist as the trainer and Pokemon.
"Haunter you don't have to do this!" Sneasel pleaded from behind a couch that floated half way in the air, "If you keep your master here, she will die!"
"The world out there is far worse than death."
Title: Chapter 4 Part 4
"Is this... where I die?" He asked with his last breath of fresh air, feeling the atmosphere close in on him.
Luna pounded her bruised fists on the barrier, watching as Mega Haunter grabbed at bookshelves and couch cushions, trying to rearrange and rebuild this gals world he had built. "Haunter..." Luna sighed with tears in her eyes, "How did this happen? I raised you with kindness and generosity... what happened to you?" Mega Haunter formed the walls without hanging to touch them, his third eye focused on Luna as she cried in her prison.
"It's all my fault, I... I showed you a world that didn't exist. My world. My home a paradise for you and when I showed you the real world... this is all my fault...." Mega Haunter paused his movements, hearing a noise he haven't heard in a long time, the noise of his master crying.
"Master? What are you doing? Why are you doing this?" Mega Haunter touched the barrier, the crack seem growing larger without his notice. "I know it isn't much yet, but when the human is gone and returns your heart, I can build more! This world will be just like our home! And the stronger I get, the more real is will become, you just have to have patience that's all."
"You... Pokemon... I love Pokemon, because they are capable of things most humans aren't. Undying loyalty, pure kindness, and forgiveness. That's why I loved you, Haunter. Not because you were strong, or protective, or perfect. I loved you because despite all that my parents did, despite the deaths you saw, you still showed kindness to humans."
"I did no such thing! I despise them, Master!"
"I'm a human, Haunter!" Luna shouted, pounding her fist against the barrier, "You raised me! Protected me! Cared for me! You forgave humans! Even when we met the others, you didn't do this to them! You gave them a chance because you forgave humanity for all it did! I never forgave humanity for what it did to me!"
Mega Huanter backed away from the barrier, all eyes staring down at his sobbing master. "I hated my parents, wanted them dead, for leaving me alone in that house. I wanted to kill that butler who I once called my second father for the crimes he committed. That hatred inside of me will never die, even now I hate the humans who are trying so hard to save me from you. I hate myself for being brought into this world as this flawed and violent creature. That's why I loved you, Haunter! You were everything I wanted to be! And now look! Now... you are no better than those who tore my world apart. You're more human to me than the others."
"M-Master.... don't say that..."
"You're evil, wicked, horrid, murderous! You're my father! My mother! My butler! My enemies! My friends! You are me Haunter and I despise you!" The barrier shattered in a fine dust, her voice breaking through the last bit of strength that held his heart together.
Mega Haunter remained frozen in place, eyes wide, her voice ringing in his head. He could see her as a child, eyes crying and face red as it was now, the only time he saw her this upset was when she spoke of the other humans in the house. He could see she wasn't lying, she wasn't pretending, she wasn't playing a joke. His third eyes searched her carefully, over and over, in hopes of finding a bit of her that still loved him.
There was none.
Title: Chapter 4 Part 5
"Human," a voice spoke of feminine and masculine tones, "what brings you to my world?"
"Your world? Who are you?" David asked rubbing his eyes, only able to see darkness and haze before him.
"It is not important. That Pokemon is a creation of man, filled with the sins of humans, and has this been made this horrid creature. I must set the balance between humans and Pokemon's right, or else it will always be impure."
"Please," David coughed, "save her..." His eyes shut slowly, passing out on the back of a large Pokemon.
"It shall be attempted," the Pokemon spoke, black wings with red tips lifting the Pokemon higher above the haze, "but my priority is keeping the balance."
Mega Haunter remained still, seeing his Master freed of her prison, with no strength to encase her back inside. Sneasel watched from a safe distance, feeling the ground rumble under her feet. "Master..." Mega Haunter pleaded, Luna glaring at the floor with fists held right, "Please... do not hate me. I love you, please, return that kindness onto me, like you always do."
"Me doing that is why we're here, Haunter. I gave you all this love to make up for the fact I didn't love myself. I thought... I thought if I loved you enough then maybe I'd find something in me to love too. But I see nothing, just hate and envy and regret. I have no more love to give." Luna rubbed her eyes with her arm, feeling light headed as the world began to take hold of her humanity and rip it apart, taking her life essence away every second she remained.
"Master, I see so much in you." Mega Haunter opened his third eye completely, seeing an aura of white flowing inside of her, "What I see is something I once had, this forgiveness and kindness that you speak of. I see a sense of loss, not hatred, I see hope, not envy. My master is beautiful, is kind, and is forgiving. My master is not human." Mega Haunter moved closer, hands on her shoulders, eyes appearing softer, "My master is my friend. I love you... Luna."
Luna looked up, trying to hold her tears inside, feeling them run down the side of her face. Mega Haunter felt an ache in his chest, a beat, a heart. "Please," he begged, "as not a human, but as my friend, please... forgive me." She held her breath, backing away with eyes wide facing the dark tainted sky. Mega Haunter turned back, suddenly impacted by a ball of darkness his body was thrown across the room.
"Haunter!" Luna called out, her body collapsing as she tried to run to him.
"The abomination shall be disposed of." The Pokemon spoke from the sky, holding David on his back, landing on the ground. The Pokemon with yellow helmet protecting it's face and six legs keeping it's body up, it eyed the human girl with little concern. "The abomination is not dead. I shall handle him first."
"I can't believe it," Luna whispered as she struggled to stand, "you're... Giratina." Giratina, who resided in the Reverse World, was summoned here by the shifting of power and energy, altering his own world worse than the Ghost World. Giratina glared at Mega Haunter as he came up from the ground.
Title: Chapter 4 Part 6
"You can't!" David protested on top of the Pokemon. Giratina summoned a power within itself. Suddenly the creature vanished, David along with it.
"Where are you coward?!" Mega Haunter protested, his arms crossed over his face, preparing for impact. Luna looked around, unable to see signs of the large Pokemon. Suddenly Giratina appeared behind Mega Haunter.
"Haunter behind you!" Luna cried. Mega Haunter turned only to be struck in the face by a power effect force, his body pouncing on the floor and landing hard with a thud.
"Ugh... I won't... let you hurt her." Mega Haunter painted, his body feeling limp and heavy, his third eye close to shutting.
"Allow yourself peace, abomination." Giratina offered, landing before Mega Haunter who still kept a fighting stance. "I shall send you to a deep sleep where your powers can no longer endanger the balance between Pokemon and humans." David climbed off the Pokemon, rushing to Luna's aid.
"Luna we have to go, now!"
"It's all my fault," she sighed, her body light in his arms as he held her, seeing she couldn't walk, "I made him like this. He is my hatred, my anger, my envy, all personified. Haunter is me, David, I cannot leave him."
"Luna if you stay here you die! Come on." David rushed towards the path made with Sneasel rushing after.
"No!" Mega Haunter protested, slipping passed Giratina as it launched it's claws towards him. David ducked down with Luna in his arms, his fairy type Pokemon coming in launching a force of wind at the Pokemon. No longer confused, Floette shook her flower in anger as Mega Haunter was blown back. "I will not let you take her again!" David rushed forward, through the haze, seeing Litwicks awaiting their master.
"That human must never leave this realm." Giratina commanded, flying overhead, peering at the dying woman. "I shall not allow this to happen again." Quickly the Pokemon vanished, eyes set on the humans, Mega Haunter seeing this plan. His body lunged forward. Pushing David to the ground, Luna tumbled out his arms.
Giratina launched a devastating attack. Mega Haunter as flung in the air, Giratina following swiftly, head butting the Pokemon back down in the ground. David pushed himself off the ground, feeling Sneasel and Floette grab on his arms and pull him back. "Master we have to go!" Sneasel cried heading towards the awaiting Drifblims being held down by Lampents. "The world is breaking! You're dying! Please hurry!"
"Luna... where is she?" David looked back as his exhausted body was dragged forward, the legendary guardian standing over Mega Haunter. Luna stumbled towards the Pokemon.
"Wait!" She cried, falling to the ground, "Don't kill him, please!"
"Your sins have made him impossible to heal, human. What is done is done."
"Luna come on!" David called out as the Pokemon continued to drag him closer to their escape. But Luna remained, crawling towards her exhausted Pokemon.
"Haunter? Can you hear me?"
".... Master... I'm sorry..." He sighed, body leaking an acidic blood from his mouth, eyes half opened facing her, "I know... you can never forgive me."
"Luna we have to go!" David shouted, breaking free of the Pokemon dragging him, "Now!"
"She cannot leave." Giratina spoke, eyes set on the pair before him, "She must remain here, to prevent such a mistake from happening again. Pokemon are as such, and humans are as such, there is no fusion and no grey area. It must always be this way."
"You can't kill her!" David pleaded, "Please! Let her go!"
"David." Luna spoke, holding Mega Haunter in her arms, his eyes shut and body weightless. "Please go."
"What?"
"Go, before this world takes you."
"Luna I won't leave you here!" David clenched his side feeling a shard of glass that'd been wedged inside cut him deeper, Sneasel quick to help keep him up. "You have to come with me!"
"No, I don't. Haunter stayed with me through so much, gave his life in order to make me happy," Luna put a smile on her face as tears streamed down her cheeks, "don't you think I should show my appreciation?"
"Master come on!" Sneasel forced his body back, pushing him I to the arms of a Drifblim, the flying Pokemon holding him tight as he struggled.
"Good bye, David." Luna smiled at him as Giratina opened it's mouth, a swarm of darkness conjured from the shadows, "Please, forgive me."
"Luna!" His eyes were blinded by a burst of darkness, her scream quick and sharp, vanishing in thin air. When he opened his eyes he saw only the remains of the world seeming itself back together as Drifblim glided across the dark sky. Sneasel held onto a Drifloon, watching her master silently crying as he looked at where Luna once was. Smiling. Always smiling.
"Please be safe, David." Claire whispered as she sat on the bed in Luna's room, preparing to praise David with Luna in his arms. Jason grunted to himself as Lora stitched a wound on his arm, Litwicks near by that escaped the Ghost World, providing heat. Gallade kept his distance, eyes focused on the portal, awaiting the return of his noble friend and to hear stories of this Ghost World.
"I need a needle," Lora spoke to herself, jumping as her once hated Rotom appeared with needle ready in his mouth, "thanks... I suppose Luna wasn't all wrong. You're not that bad looking."
"Rotom!"
"Don't get too excited."
"Rotom." He whispered with a smile on his face. Suddenly the portal began to swirl and grow smaller, Claire hopping off the bed. A limp figure was dropped out, Sneasel floating down with the aid of Lampent, Floette coming down and resting by her master.
"David!" Claire was quick to shake his body, sighing in relief as he opened his bloodshot eyes and began to breath. "You're alive... Is Luna coming through as well?" David looked back, watching as the portal closed shut, showing no signs of ever being there.
"What?!" Lora called out, "We have to open it! Luna is still in there!"
"Shut up." David grunted, sitting up off the bed.
"David? What happened?" Jason asked with a bandage on the side of his face. David showed no signs of concern. His eyes were to the floor, holding his arm over his eyes.
"I will never forgive you..." He whispered angrily, "I loved you and you left me... I will never forgive you!" David cried with tears staining his shirt. David had stolen her heart, but Luna had stolen his as well.
Luna died with his heart.
David held hers, still beating in his mind, hoping for the day she would come back to claim it.
Title: Epilogue
Six Months Later...
"Ugh, nothing good on TV anyway." David sighed sitting on a worn out couch with a trio of shy Banettes sitting at his side.
"Banette..." One grumbled, bored with the news on legendary Pokemon sightings, all with fuzzy pictures and shaky cameras.
"Sneasel!" David sat up from the couch, the Chandelures that lighted the living room turning to the jumping Pokemon. "Sneasel! Sneasel!"
"What? Is it time already?!" David shot for the door, cutting through the kitchen, jumping over lazy Pumpkaboos and a greedy Gengar eating some honey. "I'll be back to take that from you!" David warned to Pokemon rushing passed him, Gengar shrugged continuing his late night snack.
David passed by the Rotom fridge, holding pictures mailed to him from his friends Jason, Claire, and Lora. All three following a dream of mastering something, David had no time to reminisce. "Crap! Move, move, move!" David called out as he ran passed the ghost Pokemon, all curious to the rush, following behind him.
He made his way up the stairs, all the way to the attic, panting heavily as he saw the space. Here the eggs were incubated in the warm area where a window let in sun light during the day. Sneasel already here carefully poked at the cracks in the egg. "Is it ready?" David asked as he came closer, a fragment of an Everstone dangling from his neck, leaving Sneasel in her first form.
"Sneasel." She nodded, giving the egg some space. Together they watched, with Yamasks and Litwicks, with Drifloons and Shuppets, with Duskulls and Sableyes, as this egg began to shake and expand. Suddenly a tuff of fur burst through the shell, David inching closer as a small foot kicked through. He aided in the newborn's birth, pulled away pieces of the shell.
"Pumpka?" The newborn asked, before it has a chance to cry David already held her in his arms kissing her fur. The violet body, the black fur, the bright yellow eyes. He smiled after months of waiting, hatching, preparing to see this rare shiny Pumpkaboo. Yet his throat clenched, his eyes swelled with tears.
Gently he clenched the necklace he found when clearing out the garden, where three stones resided with flowers growing around them, imaging her smiling face as it had been when they last saw.
"You ready, Sneasel?" David asked with the Pumpkaboo in his arms. Sneasel gave a nod, tears in her eyes, smiling with a thumbs up at him.
They made their way to town, it hadn't changed much in his eyes. Kids were still battling, chasing a fool's dream, men were still flaunting their Pokemon, and girls were dressing up theirs, all living through their beautiful creatures. Trainers paused seeing the man, some wanting to challenge him, but the older members of the village quickly discouraging it.
David held Pumpkaboo in his hands as he came to the fountain, taking a seat, Sneasel sitting beside him, waiting patiently. The ghost man, they called him, the spirit who came into town one day and never left, who fell in love with a ghost woman.
The night sky was beautiful, stars peering down even through the town's street lights, the night he dreamt of just days before. David looked forward, jumping a bit seeing a man now standing before him dressed in black. Gengar was at his side, eyes stern and stance strong, easily intimidating Sneasel. David didn't have to ask who he was, seeing one eye red, and the other blue, staring down at him.
Slowly he presented the shiny Pumpkaboo to the man smelling of crisp Autumn wind, the man holding out his hands and holding the rare Pokemon.
"Luna said she would want to show this to you." David spoke, choking on her name, even after so long it still pained to say aloud. "I assumed you'd know what to do." The man held the Pumpkaboo at eye level, staring into it in a way David could not understand. Finally, there was a voice.
"Luna."
"Huh?" David asked, surprised when the man handed over the valuable Pokemon back to him."
"I see now. The barrier between humans and Pokemon, it has been broken."
"What are you talking about?"
"Her name is Luna." He spoke. With that he turned away and walked towards the exit gate with Gengar at his side, leaving David with more questions than answers.
"Was that it?" David asked, seeing the Pumpkaboo staring up at him with a smile on her face. "Luna? Why would he want me to name you that?"
"Pumpkaboo!" He sighed a bit with a smile on his face, cradling the Pokemon as he headed back towards the house.
"Well, Luna, I'm David and this is Sneasel."
"Sneasel!"
"Heh, and we are your family. I will teach you everything about being a Pokemon... A friend of mine she... she told me that Pokemon are capable of things most humans aren't. Undying loyalty, pure kindness, and forgiveness. So I'll make sure you are trained that way, okay?"
"Pumpka?" The Pumkaboo nuzzled close to him as he rubbed his eyes away of tears. He opened the front doors, exposing Gastlys zooming through the walls, Rotoms shocking each other in various forms, Shuppets pulling pranks, Litwicks lighting up the halls.
David smiled down at the shiny Pumpkaboo, Luna, who quickly rushed inside to mix in with her normal brothers and sisters. He came inside, Sneasel yawning with a stretch, David shutting the door behind him. The words the man spoke of, the barrier between humans and Pokemon being broken, he had hopes of what it meant. He clenched the Everstone around his neck, seeing her smile in the excited Pumpkaboo, eyes no longer crying, his smile no longer forced.
"Welcome back, Luna... Welcome home."
*ahem*
The whole story was written beautifully, and I can happily say that it's the best fanfiction I've read on here so far. I love it when stories end with the title, seriously. Crowning Moment of Awesome without the crowns. 8D It had happy moments and sad moments, but they were good ones.
Maybe a sequel is planned? It's fine just as a stand-alone, but it's always possible. 030
Anyways, a big round of applause for a great ghosty story! *applause*
