Prologue

The wind howled as the storm raged on, the leaves on the trees whipping back and fourth. No birds flew that night, not a creature was out, except one. She ran through the forest, her silver pelt shooting droplets of water behind her. She leapt over a fallen tree, and raced along a path. She ran until she came to a clearing where three others were waiting for her.

"Adhara," growled the biggest, a pure black wolf with only a single white spot around his right eye. "You made it." He ruffled his black wings, droplets spraying everywhere.

"Yes, nice to see you too, Crow." She snorted at him, and turned to the other two. One was a large white wolf, with black stripes going from his eyes to his cheeks. The other was a large amber wolf, but not as big as Crow. "Zaair, Tarrock." they dipped their heads back to her.

"So are we going to do this or not?" asked Zaair, flicking his long white tail back and fourth, blinking his blind eyes.

They all formed a circle, spreading their wings and closing their eyes. They began to chant in the ancient language spoken by the originals, praying to the god of creation and destruction, Falcon. Below their eyelids, the color of their eyes started to glow; Purple, Blue, White, and Amber. Lighting struck down in the center of the circle, and the wolves were zapped to different territories.

Adhara was zapped to a marshland, where prey was rich. She became the god of water.

Crow was zapped to a pine forest, where the forest floor never saw daylight. He became the god of shadows.

Zaair was zapped to a high mountain top, where the wind blew ferociously. He became the god of wind.

Tarrock was zapped to a deep underground cavern, the musty scent everywhere. He became the god of earth.
