Today, I was changing my name here, and I had intended to put LugiaQueen. However, I wasn't thinking straight at the time and put Plagiarism instead. I was wondering if each user could have one opportunity regarding name changes where if they accidentally put in the wrong name, they can PM a mod and have it changed without waiting the whole four months. The one-time limit would be in place so people couldn't abuse this feature and also so hopefully they'll remember to be more careful next time with what they enter.

I know users that got their usernames changed but just because they wanted it to be with capital letters instead of lowercase letters.
I can't really find something to say against this tho so I'm neutral regarding this.

This has been suggested before, and i believe it was rejected?

Also how in the world did you manage to put Plagiarism instead of LugiaQueen????

Because I was browsing PH while thinking about school and my finger happened to tap the Username Change link (I'm on a touchscreen). I actually wasn't expecting to be able to change my name so soon, but the space was open so I thought I would change it since I had about two spare minutes.

But Plagiarism is so....weird and humiliating. I had been planning on LugiaQueen for several weeks.

So... you consciously entered something you didn't want into the space to change your username and submitted it, simply because you didn't think it would work?
There's a warning when you're not allowed to change your name. The fact that you did it even though the warning wasn't there is... kind of your own fault.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I should have thought more before I put my new name in. It would be nice if this suggestion were possible, but I guess this experience itself will teach me to pay attention to what I'm doing.

no support i feel like you only made this to mostly benefit you because you somehow lost your mind put in plagiarism instead of lugiaqueen which i have no idea how you accomplished that they are nothing alike. i feel that if you made your name that way you will have to deal with it... im sorry but i don not think this will fly

How do you get Plagiarism from LugiaQueen?

*clears throat*
Anyway, you can actually change your username if it's some sort of error.
As an example, shortly after I joined PH I changed my username to Mystic%20Espeon in hopes of having a space in my username but no one could visit my userpage. After I explained it all to Riako, he kindly changed my username.

But this is another situation, you're not getting a username change. Just wait the 4 months.

@Professor_Joe: Yes, I made this thread because I would like to get my name changed, but I also thought this suggestion could benefit others who had perhaps made a spelling error in their names or put, for example, LegendaryCatLover when they had intended to put LegendaryDogLover. So this thread wasn't made just for my benefit.

With that said, however, Taipopo's post clears up changes regarding spelling errors in your name, so I appreciate that. And if the mistake is something like what I did (putting the wrong name), then waiting until the next change isn't so bad after all.

(And I don't remember my exact thought process from LugiaQueen to Plagiarism.)
