Years ago, Novus was as prosperous and welcoming as any other region. Gyms, Contests, and the Novus Pokémon League were in the dreams of many. That was before one young man's dreams and aspirations took a dark turn - Samuel Azreal could not achieve what he wanted alone. He created the criminal organization Team Obsidian, along with capturing Darkrai - a legend among Novus. Once taking over the place as Champion, he assumed a dictatorship-like stance, cutting off Novus from the outside world. Now, years later, a rebellion has managed to open the region back up - gyms, contests, and all - hoping for alliances to defeat their unwanted Champion and rescue Novus from its current nightmare state.
