Swompy's Shinies!

The Shiny Collection of your average PokéPlayer

Hey future me and other potential readers! I just wanted to make this to remind my futureself how and when I got my shinies in the official games! (Images were taken from here).

The first shiny I got was on 10/4/14 while I was horde encountering in Y for a shiny Mareep. I instead got a shiny Wingull who I named Gulliver (even though she's a girl <.<).



The next shiny I got was on 19/5/14 in an Ice type Friend Safari. I was actually looking fora Beartic for the Dex when I stumbled upon a shiny Spheal on my third encounter! My reaction was amazing and I wished I could've recorded it :p
I named her Clappie because it was the first name that came to my mind.

After finding out that people were getting loads of shinies from friend safaris, I wanted to find one too. I decided to go for Mawile because I wanted a shiny mega. My prayers for a shiny were answered on 10/6/14 by a shiny Klefki. I named him Keyper because Klefki never lets go of any of it's keys. (#pun).


It was on 28/5/2014 I decided I wanted to get a shiny Pachirisu. I entered the friend safari and on that same day, I got not one, not two, but THREE shiny Helioptiles. I named two of them Generaptor cause Helioptile is the generator Pokemon and looks like a raptor (#pun). I named the third one Genera because I accidentally hit enter instead of 'p'. I was too lazy to visit the Name Rater to fix it (luckily she was a girl so it wasn't that bad). I evolved only one of them.

I had decided to not actively hunt any shinies until I got the shiny charm. I finally got the shiny charm on 7/6/14 and decided to go to a Fire Friend Safari with Ponyta and Slugma. The one I got was Slugma who's shiny form looked really cool and even cooler as a Magcargo! I named her Turbo after the Pixar movie of the same name (haven't actually watched that movie).


After I got the shiny charm, I decided 'Hey, why don't I try for that shiny Mareep again?' It took me a lot of days but I finally got that pink Mareep on 10/6/14. I named her Cotton Candy because, that pink wool looks way too much like cotton candy. However, I renamed her Bubblegum after she evolved into Ampharos because she lost her cotton candy-ness. She became my first shiny mega.

So I was just adding people on the 17/6/14 for a reason I cannot remember and I decided to check out one guy's friend safari to see what Pokemon were there. I encountered a Bergmite, then a Snorunt and then for my third encounter a Shiny Snorunt! Like with the Spheal, my reaction was priceless. I named her Lassie because I didn't know if I would be able to get another female Snorunt. Later on that day, I find out that the third pokemon was Lapras, so I tried to get a shiny Lapras. Instead, I got another shiny Snorunt. It was guy this time and I named him Ch-Ch-Chills because its more original than Chills. Lassie became a Froslass and Ch-Ch-Chills became a Glalie.

On 28/7/14, I decided to go horde-encounter hunt Yanma on Kalos Route 10. I surprisingly got him really quickly. I named him Twitch as I usually do with Yanmas. I was disappointed at first that he had Compund Eyes, but I found out that once he evolved into Yanmega, it would turn into Tinted Lens which isn't that bad.


Mega Metagross was confirmed for ORAS and I was like 'Hey, I have a friend safari with Metang. Why don't I shiny hunt it?' So I did. On 2/8/14, I got that Shiny Metang! And I was lucky enough to catch it with my Quick ball. I named him 01101 (pronounced as Binary). Then a couple days later it was announced that a shiny Beldum would be distributed in ORAS which made me a little sad as it made my shiny Metagross less valuable.


On the same day, after I had gotten the shiny Metang, I went to a Dark Friend Safari for a shiny Sableye. I ended up with a shiny Sandile. I named him Crock because he's a ground crocodile. Ground is similar enough to rock, right? (#pun). As a side note, shiny Krookodile is one my fav shinies.

I don't remember how long it took, but I know that it was a very very very long time that I was hunting through horde-encounter for a shiny Vanillite. I eventually got it on 4/9/14. I named her Berry Cream because it reminded me of strawberry ice-cream. Something I just wanted to say, Vanillite's shiny form in my opinion gets worse everytime it evolves.


The next day (5/9/14), early in the morining, I got a shiny Hoppip from horde-hunting after like just 11 hordes. Named her Cotton Candy because the dandelion things of Jumpluff are like cotton and pink like candy.

Dear Diary,
On 9/9/14, I was horde hunting in Connecting Cave for any shiny. The shiny I got was a green Zubat. I caught her and named her Gummy Bat because she was green and a bat. Very similar word to bear. I didn't evolve her into Crobat because I really like Golbat's shiny more (Plus I'm too lazy to walk around with it to get its happiness up).


It was on the very next day (10/9/14) that I got a shiny Roggenrola from horde hunting in Reflection Cave! I was looking for shiny Mime Jr., but I'll take Roggenerola! I named him He'll Rock U because I wanted to somehow name him after the song 'We will rock you'. I was able to evolve him into a beautiful and majestic shiny Gigalith with help from my good friend Carpet. It took us like 5 or so tries because of connection errors but we were able to evolve him.

Ah, the great day that was 29/9/14. It was this day that I got FOUR shinies! I wanted a shiny Shuckle because for some reason, Shuckle started growing on me. I found a person with a Shuckle in his friend safari and hunted there. I got 2 shiny Magcargos, a shiny Boldore and finally, the shiny Shuckle who I named Koopa God and then I realised she was a girl. Even though only one of those shinies' was a new one, it was a great day.


T'was the early morning of 2/10/14. I was searching in a friend safari for a shiny Pachirisu again. This time I found a person who has Stunfisk in the safari instead of Helioptile. Did I find a shiny Pachi? Nope! Of course not, a shiny Stunfisk. I named her Pancake. This was only a few encounters after my Shiny Guts Taillow w/ Flame Orb from Wonder Trade. I'm not going over shinies I received from other people because I didn't really do any effort to get those. So my fourth shiny fourth shiny while I was looking for Pachirisu.


Also, not sure on the date I found it because I traded it off for a shiny Braviary, but I got a FOURTH shiny Helioptile. Seriously, that friend safari is swarming with red Helioptiles. Its like Pachirisu hates me as much as I hate it. Maybe if I built it a shrine....

Early morning, 3/10/14, 6 hordes, shiny Gulpin! I wasn't even trying hard on that horde-hunting. (#humbleboast). I named her Chubii as I name all my Gulpins. Not really much else to say about this one. She's cute, I guess?


On 19/10/14, me and my family were on the road, going to visit my cousins. I decided to pass the time just idly hunting shiny Druddigon while chatting with my parents. I came across a shiny Noibat! Honestly, shiny Noibat looks a bit ugly, but I like shiny Noivern so its all good. At least I didn't get a shiny Gabite *grumbles*. Oh, I named him Noisebat because I have no better name for the Noibat line.

We're on 19/12/14 which means we're moving onto ORAS! Yay! So, just assume that the next lot of shinies are from Omega Ruby unless said otherwise. I was in Petalburg Woods, horde hunting for a shiny Wurmple or Zigzagoon. I was good with either one. Then I ran into a horde of Shroomish which I didn't even know could be found there. 3 encounters after that, I ran into shiny Shroomish! I named her 1-UP because Mario. It was my first ORAS shiny (not counting the Beldum) and it was Calm natured. Which meant it had increased Sp. Def sacrificing Attack. Oh well. Shiny is a shiny.


The very next day (20/12/14), I horde-hunted for shiny Numel, Grimer or Koffing in Fiery Path. I got a shiny Koffing (as a sidenote, hordes of Koffing make my 3DS lag a bit). I really like shiny Koffing so I was really pleased (with my luck with shinies, I was think I was going to get a shiny Slugma). I just like how it spews purple smoke. I named her Fumer 'cause I'm just so good at names.

Another random shiny on 17/1/15! I decided I was going to do further shiny hunts after getting the shiny charm. So, I was in the tall grass on Route 117 trying to level up my Hoothoot to evolve him. When I just randomly ran into a shiny Roselia! I just knida sat there staring at it for some time. My reaction was something like 'Oh......OH!OMG!'. I named him Rosebud. He was even carrying his own Posion Barb. Also my first shiny of 2015. =D


I was back in Y, in the friend safari where I had gotten my shiny Snorunts. Back again for that shiny Lapras. And I succeeded on 31/1/15 where I saw that majestic purple Lapras. I sent her to sleep and chucked dive balls cause I was not risking any Perish Song. I got it in a dive ball and named it Lapmaggot after our one true Lord, Lapmaggot. She was holding some Mystic Water from the mythical pools of Narnia. I have to go now. It's almost half past one. Time to worship our Lord Lapmaggot.

My next shiny was today. Yes, on 3/2/15. The actual date of me posting this. I caught up on the shny diary, yay! Anyways, I was on Route 119 using the DexNav to find wild Oddish for my shiny Taillow to grind on to evolve. I had come out from the Weather Institute after healing there. Opened up my DexNav and found a wild Oddish. As I creeped up on it I was actually thinking 'What if this was a shiny?'. And Lo and Behold. Shiny Oddish. I freaked out so loud, my mother in the other room could hear me. I caught him and called him Oddium. I called him this because I read somewhere that Oddish's scientific name was Oddium Wanderus and the name just stuck. It was evolved into a Vileplume.

Today on 15/2/25, I found a shiny Doduo in the Safari Zone through hordes. I've resumed shiny hunting as I've finally gotten the shiny charm. I first named him Kiwi because he's green like the kiwi fruit and is a somewhat flightless bird like the kiwi bird, genius, but I renamed him TYPOSEED because of a certain randomizer that retyped Doduo to Normal/Grass and gave it that name. As a side note, I had a male Pokemon with Cute Charm in the lead because if I got another shiny Oddish, I wanted it to be female because it suits Bellossom better. The shiny Doduo was male :p

I went back to hunting for the shiny Pachirisu. And today on 21/2/14, I find ANOTHER SHINY HELIOPTILE! GOD! This is my fifth one! I was cute charming again to find males, and the shiny Helioptile is female, so the whole increased chance of finding Pokemon of opposite gender isn't really working out.

Heeey. I added a new friend safari with no Helioptiles or Stunfisk. Just Pikcahu and Pachirisu. So, I try to find a shiny Pachirisu and, you've probably got my drift, Shiny Pikachu! Why oh why can I not find a shiny Pachirisu? And another thing, I was cute-charming to find males, and the Pikachu was female....I think I should just cute-charm with a male instead =P
I named her Peekachee cause I'm not good at names. This was a really really early morning shiny on 4th March 2015 for me.



It happened. I FOUND A SHINY PACHI! Yessssssss. Same day. That's what you get for being persistent. And my female pokemon with cute charm actually attracted a male shiny for once! This makes up for everything. Sort of. I named him Chip after my Pachirisu in Platinum version. The Pachirisu who started my relation with the species...

Today, on 16 March 2015, I started my first actual DexNav hunt for Surskit. And I got it. I wasn't really paying attention to the DexNav screen, but it has its hidden ability, Rain Dish and only the move Power Split, so that's going to be fun to train up. Its Timid (+Spe,-Atk) so that's pretty good.
It is currently unnamed because I have no idea what to call it. Palpad me for suggestions I guess!

Today, on 5/4/15, Easter, I found another shiny on a route with one of my most favourite music, Route 113. With the horde hunting method I was able to find a shiny Spinda! Nothing too special about it. I named him Gummy because he's like a gummy bear except a panda.

Full Shiny Box!

Today on the 1st of July, I received my 30th shiny! I wanted my 30th shiny to be something special, so I decided to shiny hunt the Latias from the Eon ticket event.
I had been hunting it for days but lost hope. That's when I took a loooooong break from shiny hunting. Today, I came back to try again, and lo and behold, shiny Latias!
Fun Fact: I spent a lot of time chucking ultra and dusk balls and then caught her in a regular Pokeball.
I named her Edna, because I'm bad at names and Latias is the Eon Pokemon.
And no, Latias-Sama was not an option.

On the 26th of July, I went back to DexNav Chatot which I had decided to do after I got the Shiny Charm. I just sort of forgot about it. And today I got it! In 1 Dexnav encounter! What a brillaint way to start Box 2!
Not really that special except that it has its hidden ability, Big Pecks, and the egg move Defog which i meh.
I named her Patches because she a bundle of colours.

On the 3rd of September (2015), I found another shiny in a friend safari. I was hoping to find a shiny Delibird, but Sneasel is good too, I guess. Even though its shiny doesn't at all reflect what Sneasel is supposed to be. I guess maybe that's why it's rare.
I had been hunting for some quite, taken a 1 week break and found it on the first encounter for the day.
Oh, and she's Modest. Lowered Attack, Raised Sp.Attack. Shiny luck is something I may have. Nature luck though...
I named her Prisma.
