Mavis quietly watched from the top of the stairs as Barky (she was beginning to think Barky was the descendant of Cerberus, Hades' dog). Nervously she skipped down the stairs, leaping over the last two, and poked her head over her mother's shoulder. "Oh, hello." She said, looking around. "You must be one of the regular townsfolk, right?" She glanced at the sign nearby on the street that read: "Elpamville, Population 50" and realized that Elpam was Maple backwards. Her mother scurried away. "Um... If I'm supposed to know you in this dream or something, I don't. I apologize." Mavis said uncomfortably, accepting the fact that she probably couldn't get back home. Sort of.

"If ya mean from 'ere, no. Can I come in? I 'ave no idea wot's goin' on 'ere anyways." Fox walked inside, Baskervilles trotting at her heels. "Are you from th' normal world? Or, at least the world I was livin' in originally. Baskervilles, don't eat that. But I mean seriously, one minnit Oi'm eatin a sandwich, the next, I'm beatin' up a psycho dog attempting tae maul moi face." Fox's accent was erratic, changing little parts of her speech in small but mildly confusing ways. She had traveled a lot during her time in the "normal" world, thus influencing her speech. Altogether, she had probably picked up about 17 accents, most of which slurred together to create different combinations depending on her mood. "But yeah, sorry about prancin in yer house with a giant dog an rantin 'bout crap you prolly din even know wot I'm talkin 'bout." Fox said, taking into notice the semi-confused look on the girl's face.

Mavis shook her head. She was bewildered, still, at what had happened to Barky. "I know what your talking about." Mavis glanced towards the sky. "Just to be clear that we're on the same page, you talking about the Earth where the sky is uh... Blue , right?" Mavis stared at the window. She jumped as an furry Orc-thing charged towards the window. Recovering angrily, she grabbed the scythe from under her couch and quickly said to Fox, "Excuse me for a moment." Mavis opened the window and swung the scythe at the Orc.
The blade collided with the creature's head and it fell to he ground with a gash in its skull. Mavis cussed at it and went back to the couch. "As you were saying?" She dug her nails in her own palm in disbelief to what just happened.

Fox rubbed her eyelids, thumping against the wall and sliding to the ground. "Ugh, alla dis is muddlin moi mind so much oi cannae eben s'per'te moi accents tae speak legibly to you. Do ye 'ave annytin to drink? Oi'm m'ghty parched 'ere and Oi cannae tink stroight." Fox sighed and scratched the back of her neck. Though this world was strange to her, everything felt mildly familiar, as if she had been here before. It was much like the feeling you might get if you walked into a building that had replaced another that you had visited often. She sighed, relaxing her muscles. She hadn't even realized that she was clenching her fist until now, rubbing at the imprints of her fingernails into her palm. Everything was so confusing, but maybe...
Maybe this could help her find out more about her mystery dad.

Mavis nodded. "It's okay, I can understand you." She said, and walked into the kitchen, her footsteps quiet. Her mother, who seemed fresh as a raindrop (this was scary to Mavis), smiled at her as she opened the fridge. Her mother's breath was fresh, and didn't stench of alcohol like in the real world. Mavis was learning to accept this world, and like it better. After all, Fox was from the real world and understood the things that Mavis did. Maybe it might be better here. She thought happily. She pulled the fridge door open, and pulled out a jug of water. "Made a new friend?" Her mother said, washing a plate. "Maybe." Mavis replied with a shrug, pouring the water into a glass. "She go to your school?" Her mother asked, as if trying to squeeze valuable information out of her.
"I'm not sure... Um, what's the name of my school?" Mavis asked, cringing. "Elpam School, remember?" Her mother said, quite confused. "Well, perhaps the Summer break has dulled your mind. There you learn educational things, and how to survive. I remember you getting an A on your Defense Against Monsters." Her mother said, tapping Mavis's forehead affectionately. Wait a minute... I thought it was Winter... She shook the thought off, and brought the glass back into the other room and handed it to Fox. It was strange, because the air in the place felt familiar and she didn't feel suffocated. It felt fresh. "We're going to learn how to kill monsters in school." She said to Fox, and collapsed in an armchair with a sigh. "Go ahead and sit down." She said a bit carelessly.

Fox slumped down into a chair, Baskervilles curling up at her feet. She turned to Mavis's mother. "Erm, excuse me, but what are the other classes like? I'm... new here. In fact, is there a chance that you know somewhere I could stay for the time being?" Fox wasn't sure if it was really all that safe to stay on the streets at a strange and unfamiliar place full of monsters at every corner without a reliable shelter. She sheepishly rubbed the scar at the back of her neck. "I'm kind of out of a place to stay right now."

Glacia sat down on her little tree-stump chair. "Hmm.... What to do..." She grabbed a rock and strangely sharpened her sword with that rock. She stared into the deep forest and gazes and some apples hanging from a tree. "I'm hungry..." She was still staring at the apples. Glacia got up and ran to the apples. She grabbed the apples and stuck the whole thing in her mouth, but disgustingly spat the core out. "Delicious!"

Mavis's mother chuckled. "We have a guest room, you can stay there." Her mother said. Okay, my mother would of screamed her head off and smashed something by now. Mavis thought. "Let's see... There's chemistry, although I remember us usually doing it outside as a child. I believe the Elpam school doesn't have a chemistry lab, since it's been burned up fifteen times. Y'know, the regular stuff like fire substances and poison-making." Her mother began. Mavis looked towards the kitchen in interest. "Coding, just in case we need to hack something." O-kay. Mavis's fingers tapped the table. "Anatomy of monsters, and a few other stuff." Her mother finished, and cleaned off another plate. Mavis looked at Fox. "This is going to be interesting." She muttered a bit sarcastically.

Erin stood on her bed. Her eyes were wide and her hair was crazy, like she just seen a ghost. The place was nothing like she remembered, except for her neighbors, like her. Erin went outside and knocked on her neighbor's door. She had to talk to Mavis, her neighbor, about the change. Which was unearthly.
