Garnet felt her pokeball being lifted and set into a bag beside five others.A large orange 'X' was visible in the darkness,and a strange voice that sounded like a balloon called out."There's a newcomer!"
A drifblim floated out of the darkness,followed by a large empoleon,then a glaceon and an orange mightyena.A small eevee stumbled behind.
The drifblim waved its strange flat arms."Hello,newbie!I see ZJS has caught you.And it looks like you're a shiny!" The mightyena looked a bit taken aback but didn't comment."I'm Floaty,"The drifblim continued."The empoleon is PS,the glaceon is Polaris,and the eevee is Maxx.But the mightyena,he's ZJS's baby brother's.His sibling gave it to him as a gift.His name is Citrus."Garnet relaxed a bit.These pokemon seemed friendly,even though the mightyena looked a bit sad.

The absol let out a small growl, but seemed to have given up. It stood it's ground, waiting to see if any more pokeballs were to be thrown, it's wings outstretched.

As Floaty spun in a cheery circle and Maxx did a little dance,Garnet couldn't help but feel happy.Citrus said something to Polaris and she went back into the dark,returning with a small egg.
"This egg has been here for months.It's called BAD EGG,and ZJS got it from Alice.Do you know what's inside of it?"
Garnet felt her chest tighten;this egg must've been what made Alice release Torrent!
She hadn't abandoned him...She just wanted to keep him safe!
Garnet gasped."Don't hatch it,"She pleaded."It's bad,that's why it's a BAD EGG..."

The Mega Absol felt a pokeball hit it, and flinched as it opened and pulled it in. It opened it's mouth, and surprisingly sound came out from it, very feminine. The now apparent female absol snapped her mouth shut, eyes wide.

Muffled voices sounded outside and Citrus gasped."Back to your pokeballs!" the pokemon skittered away,and Garnet was lifted from the darkness.Her ears buzzed and vision exploded from the sudden sound and light.

The absol opened and closed her mouth, then made another noise. "W-What...?" She said, trying out her new found voice, "How? I haven't been able to talk since..." The absol shuddered, then felt herself get let out of the pokeball. She blinked, dazed, and saw a girl kneeling in front of her, smiling. "Why hello there! You seem like quite a nice one! I'm Taylor." She said, smiling broadly. The Absol looked at the trainer suspiciously, then looked around and noticed the rest of Taylor's party watching her. She shrunk down, glancing at the other pokemon. An Infernape, Leafeon, Luxio, Noctowl, and Vaporeon all watched her.

Garnet shook out her fur.She didn't like being in a pokeball;Her new person was standing behind her."I'm going to Dr.Footstep's house.I don't think the way she's looking at me means she likes me."He turned to leave and walked away without putting Garnet in the pokeball.Garnet sat down,waiting for him to come back,before getting up and following him curiously.

The trainer smiled again, her short blonde hair falling in her eyes. It covered her eyes, and cupped around her face. Her eyes were dark blue, and freckles covered her face. A beanie covered her head, lopsided, and her t-shirt and skirt had pokeballs on them. The absol stood completely still, then relaxed at the smile. The trainer got up, "I'll let you meet the others." She said and happily moved away. The Infernape moved over to her, "Hello, welcome to the team. I'm Sniper. And that's Anteaus, Spark, Hoot, and Riptide!" The absol looked unsure at first then said quietly, almost as if unsure, "My name is Maura."

Garnet stepped inside the house,a strange man in the corner.ZJS talked to him for a moment before Garnet was beckoned forward.She walked across the strange,wet floor and paused,seeing she'd left footprints."Why am I here?"The man said suddenly as he examined the footprints."Why did ZJS catch ME?I,an oft-shunned absol,am surprised......Maybe I can grow to this."Garnet was surprised.That was EXACTLY it.

"Hello Maura!" All of them said, and Maura narrowed her eyes. They seemed like nice pokemon, but...What about Garnet? She needed to save her. The guild comes first. Maura faked a smile, "Nice to meet you all!" She said, then noticed the Trainer named Taylor walked back over to them. "I wonder where ZJS went. Knowing him, he immediately went to Dr.Footsteps. He loves knowing how his pokemon feel. I do too, but I prefer to find out by myself."

Garnet couldn't believe it.Could a footstep really say all that?She leaned forward and examined her own,but she couldn't see anything.

ZJS looked relieved,and he left the house.Garnet scampered after him.Would she pick ZJS,or the guild...?
She thought this for a long time,through the rest in Twinleaf Town,before making her decision.
She'd stay with ZJS;her brother could take over the guild.

In the morning,she left the house early and pattered down route 201 until she found a Starly;she told it to tell the guild that she wasn't coming back and she was happy where she was,safe with her trainer,and that her brother could take her place.

Taylor, along with the rest of her party, went to Twinleaf town to find ZJS. Maura anxiously went along, still afraid to use her voice in case it would leave as suddenly as it had appeared. As they traveled, she grew more and more attached to her new friends.

ZJS sent all his pokemon out into the middle of Twinleaf."I'm going to the Pokemart in Sandgem town;until I get back,you can do whatever you want.Just don't get into trouble,"He added.He turned and ran down the route.

Taylor, when she finally caught up to ZJS, turned to her pokemon companions. "Go ahead and have some fun you guys!" Maura felt something land on her back, and turned to see Riptide sitting on her back. Maura had grown to like this little guy, the youngest in the party. He had only just evolved, so his eevee characteristics, personality wise, were still there. Maura spread her wings and charged, giving him a little joy ride as he laughed happily. Maura stayed alert, though, for Garnet.

Garnet sat down and began licking her fur.The grass here was springy with dew;just like back at the guild.Garnet shook her head.She wasn't in the guild anymore;by now that starly had probably given the message to the absol.She lay and stretched out in the sunshine.

Citrus padded up and settled beside Garnet. Garnet lifted her head before sitting up.
"So you're a shiny,too?"
Citrus nodded."Used to be the only one in the party,too,until ZJS caught you.It's strange,being the only odd-colored pokemon.Everyone looked at me funny." He extended a paw for Garnet to shake,and she hesitated before reaching out and shaking his paw.
