I love fishing. I possibly love it a bit too much, so I thought I'd try selling my catches. Please fuel my addiction.

Kat was still watching from the back, as usual taking her time to enter the battle as she curiously took note of the different, all impressive, skill sets that the other seemed to have. Everybody seemed to be doing their own thing for the most part, but that was what she was used to anyways.

The she saw the crystal bats flocking together and preparing for an attack. "Let's see how these guys deal with a little lag." She gave a haphazard, almost lazy, wave of her spear, and her drone came flying to her side. A blast of electricity surged from the tip into the drone, causing it to charge up and fly much more quickly. It zipped around the knockoff-fragmentum creatures in circles, letting out a high pitched signal that caused them to become confused. She raised her spear to aim at the now slowed-down enemies, shooting them down with lightning.

She flinched as a moment as out of the corner of her eye, she thought she saw someone with silver hair dart behind a tree, but she just shrugged and turned back to the fight at hand. Despite her minimal role in the battle, she couldn't help but give a small but cocky smirk at how their little band was shaping up. If this was how all their fights were going to be, she could get used to it.

Kat's stance seemed relaxed, but her expression gave away how she was more tense. She had never seen anything like these monsters (or this environment, for that matter), so they had to end this as quickly as possible to minimize risks. She readied her spear, but given the monsters' own spears she seemed to be at an impasse. She saw a golden butterfly heading towards her, and she was about to reflexively zap it when she realized it had come from Soliana's direction, and gave her a small nod of acknowledgment. The butterfly made her feel more energized, and lightning crackled across the tip of her spear as she prepared to back up Crispe and the others that seemed more at home on the frontlines. She watched the shark girl curiously, not sure what a can of paint would do, but she had seemed smart.

Kat had used her phone to snap a picture of the footprints and taken note of the temperature increase, but it seemed that there had been no need for data collection, as the heat was quite palpable.

She nodded in agreement to Crispe's theory. "Seems like it's either that, or the monsters are attracted by whatever the source of the heat is," she theorized, keeping her voice low. "I dunno what it is they're doing, but it seems like they're distracted, and I'd hate to lose the element of surprise." She gripped her spear more tightly, trying to hide her nerves.

As they headed further away from the farmland and into the wild, Kat grew more uneasy. This was far from her area of expertise. There were no buildings or roads, and worst of all, what if she lost cell signal?

Kat sent out her drone to fly a little ways ahead, using her phone to see the temperature and humidity measurements that it was taking. Unfortunately, she hadn't thought to take a baseline measurement, but those were some high temperatures and arid conditions. "Yep, I can conclude that it's really unreasonably hot here," she remarked sarcastically, to no one in particular. "Though I want to test if the temperature increases as we get closer to the monsters..."

She was unaware of the two party members nearby that could've been skewing her measurements by getting all hot and bothered.

Kat gulped when Anhu mentioned what had happened to her team. For all of her casual confidence, she wasn't the most experienced fighter. But this would be different than that expedition. It had to be, dying on the job was the ultimate waste of time.

'Exciting' wasn't exactly the word Kat would use about fighting, but she knew they should seize every advantage they could get. "Maybe we can try and catch 'em by surprise, finish 'em off quickly... or not." She then trailed off when she saw Ami charging in the direction that the monsters would supposedly be. She more cautiously followed the group that was running, drone at her side, planning on sneaking around the side so she could start slowing the monsters down once the fight started.

Kat didn't seem too into the meet-and-greet and simply brushed off the reprimands others had given her with an aloof shrug. "I want to make sure we're using our time in the best way possible, is all." Though she did feel a little bad at how discouraged the foxian had looked. These people were all clearly trying their best, even if they had different priorities than she did when it came to allocation of energy. She could and probably should go off on her own, but something stopped her, despite how inefficient working on a team was beginning to look. Just talk to someone. Say something. It's not that hard. But she didn't, instead taking notes in her mind and pretending not to be interested in what the others seemed to be talking about.

But thankfully, Lady Iwu had another lead for them, that would likely be much more fruitful than all this milling about. Kat didn't like not having a plan. "I can always see if the weather station has a database we can query later." She didn't feel like running (even in combat, she preferred to slow others down to her own leisurely pace), but she tried her best to keep the group in sight, drone following behind. "I don't go this far from the residential district often," she admitted. "But I imagine this heat can't be good for the crops."

Kat followed along reluctantly, squinting at the sun and using her bowler hat to fan herself. "The weather station? Ugghhh, what do they have there that we can't just look up for ourselves?" she whined. She didn't have scales that would dry out or fur to get messed up, but that didn't mean she was enjoying the climate, especially considering how much of a shut-in she was. "Though I wonder if our current instruments and methods are even suited to measuring these temperatures..."

Kat smirked when Crispe mentioned money, that was one of the big things on her mind as well. "Yeah, let's get this over with," she agreed with the vidyadhara girl. She wasn't too keen on walking around, as she barely even spent any time out in the sunlight, but at least her drone could do some of the scouting work. She would never admit it, but secretly it was kind of a nice change from all of her independent coding gigs.

She then saw a new person approaching them. More people meant less work for her, right? "You were summoned here too?" she asked Soliana. "We were gonna look around the city, find the optimal way to get this job done."

"The tides... I've never seen the ocean," she murmured, trying to think about how this could help them. If there was a clever shortcut to be found, she was all for it, and she had the feeling that this shark girl might think similarly to herself. "Did you find anything?"

"I suppose that just gives us more reason to check out the source of all the problems"
"It shouldn't be too hard to pinpoint the source of the heat if we can measure it," she spoke up in response to Ayran. "See in which direction the temperature is increasing. As long as we have a way to not burn or shrivel up on the way, of course."

"The seeds of... what now?" That was new to Ariel... or maybe the cat had mentioned it briefly, but it had been a lot to take in the day he had gotten his pin. "I've been a flower girl for around as long as you have, should I know about that?" He knew a lot about seeds though. "That's quite an oxymoron. Plants should heal and seeds should represent life, not suffering."

She continued to listen along with the group; small talk wasn't exactly her forte. "Do you think the heat's been frying all the flowers and stuff?" she asked curiously, seemingly unaware of how morbid she sounded.

“But you all must have seen such nice things while traveling! I’m not that adventurous, so this is new to me” Yawen laughed nervously.

Kat gave a small nod at Yawen's statement, finally deciding that it was time to join in with the group. "I haven't been one for much of that traveling stuff either, there's plenty of gigs for tech right here in the city." She cleared her throat, and gave what she hoped was a confident smirk and a jaunty tip of her bowler hat in the group's direction, trying to mask her discomfort at the growing group. "Name's Kat. Katrina, Alleykat, forty-two... whatever you please, as long as we can get the job done." She was only hoping for an efficient collaboration and a hefty reward, so she could go home and take a nap, and she had to admit that a large team was sure to make their daunting task go more smoothly. As Kat spoke, her drone she had deployed flitted around aimlessly over the group's heads, almost as if it was bored.

And then her phone buzzed and she just about jumped straight into the air at the noise, ruining whatever cool facade she was aiming for. "Geez, where did that come from?" She checked every single one of her pockets before she managed to pull out her phone. "I bet I could get into the network and intercept their signal to locate them..." She immediately began to type away furiously on her phone, unaware that it would probably be faster just to simply ask the texter where they were.

Kat's attitude had remained nonchalant, even at an event as official as a summoning by the president of Redu. She had waltzed in about halfway through the Lady Iwu's important spiel. The divination had chosen her for her expertise in robotics and programming, undoubtedly. She was sure she could carve out a role that would let her have to do as little work as possible, and she wasn't saying no to what would probably be a lavish compensation.

But the job also required working with other people, and people were unpredictable. "Wait, where are you all going?" Kat noticed that some of her supposed new teammates had started to head towards the door for assorted reasons. "You better not be getting that reward without me!" With that, she followed them outside, her curiosity getting the best of her even as she moved at her own casual pace. She leaned against her spear and watched one of the other recruits, some kind of fairy girl, practicing archery. "Maybe I could make a heat resistant drone to scout things out," she mused.

He nodded in agreement. "I was just telling Kira what good fortune it was, apparently some of the other flower girls aren't as friendly as these two, ah, rays of sunshine," he joked. "When did you get your pin?"
