While Alex was fighting two dragons, he didn’t see a third sneaking up on him. “I’m not gonna let another cat die on my watch”, Shadow thought furiously. He sprang from behind, yelling “watch out!” And clawed the dragon, who was about to take a bite out of Alex. Luckily, the dragon was distracted because of all of the frantic clawing, and stopped in mid motion. Shadow, however, had another problem. This dragon must have been the most powerful. It’s scales were very hard, and tightly woven, and it’s eyelids had scales, which means it could be protected from eye scratching.

Suddenly, Shadow had a plan. “Alex, do your thing!” He yelled as he tried to scratch the eyes of the dragon, forcing it to close its eyes. He only hoped that Alex or Silver would be able to use this opportunity to take the offensive.

Shadow saw sliver’s dragon hesitating, and took the chance. He leaped up on the dragon, and clawed both of it’s eyes, leaving the dragon blind. He melted back into the shadows and let silver finish off the dragon. She did most of the work, so it was her kill, essentially.
Soon after, he saw a burst of flame erupt from Alex’s dragon. Could Alex use fire? Never mind, it probably was an illusion from looking into silvers flame too long

Shadow jumped back, startled. “Ohh. Sorry if I was rude, silver. I just couldn’t stand to los... never mind. Anyway, I normally make sure that I know everyone in my group well before questing. So could you tell me what your powers are? I’m good at combining mine with them.”
“Wow”, Shadow thought. “I didn’t know Alex had a dark-ish side to him”. Maybe his impulsiveness just comes from being a natural troublemaker.

“Hi, I’m Shadow”. Yellowtail Cove sounds great! I’ve been in the area, so I know all the hiding places and the entrances. I haven’t looked for embers though, so maybe I could find one.

Shadow smiled. Alex reminded him of his brother, Lance. His face turned melancholy again. If only I could’ve protected him from them... that’s why I don’t want to become attached to anyone, yet don’t want to lose anyone. I so sincerely wish I could travel back in time...

Well... lets just say I’ve had a very bad time with them... But anyway, lets just check the quest board. The thing is, I may be a weird questing teammate. When fighting, I use any distractions I can get, but I will protect my questmates. I’ve actually defeated a dragon before, but it was with... ummm never mind. I think you’ve defeated one too! Anyway let’s check out the board.

“I was wondering if you would like to go one a quest?” I’m trying to find a red ember, because I really want to evolve. At least, I could save up for enough to buy one from one of these stalls. What do you say? Want to go questing?”

	After wandering a bit, Shadow saw a group of cats, including Alex, the one he saw before. He stayed back and watched, and saw that the cat named Purrcilla look sad. Heartbreak? Maybe something else. Then he heard Alex pronouncing his support, and Purrcilla walking away. This was his chance! He nervously approached Alex, hoping to get a second friend in the guild. [Read more]

	As he was running after Alex, he saw the first guild cat he met, Lyra sitting down, looking very sad. He asked, “what’s wrong? Did something happen?” He knew how Lyra most likely felt, as he also had lost a good friend during a dragon ambush. That’s what got him to try and join the guild, and use his skills to fight back. Shadow saw Alex approaching Shadow’s old friend, Fidget. He approached Alex and said “you know Fidget? He was the one helping me out when I was training! He taught me all about the food choices I should make when trying to get stronger and sneakier. He helped shape me into the scout I currently am! After buying some new tools for his utility belt, he asked Alex if he could join him.

“Ummm, Ok”, Shadow said. He thought Conan sad that he and Miko would get along well. Never mind. He trotted to the direction that Miko pointed, turning the words over in his head.
All those thoughts disappeared when he saw Starlight. “Wow! So this is the guild leader” he thought. Seeing her waiting impatiently for him to say something, Shadow said “Hi, I’m Shadow. I train daily to become a better scout, and I’m here to join the guild.”

Shadow wandered around the fortress, and it wasn’t long before he was hopelessly lost. Trying to save face, he walked around until he bumped into the tight knit group he saw earlier. He listened in to the conversation, and noticed that the cat in the center was named Miko. Conan thought they would become close friends right? It wouldn't hurt to try.
Shadow asked in what he hoped was a confident voice. “Hey, I’m new here. Do you know where Starlight is? Conan told me to find her. ”

“Hi, I’m Shadow”, he said. I’m a scout, as I train to become more sneaky and observant. I’ve always wanted to join the Guild, and have been training for weeks! Do you want a demonstration?
Once again, his heart was pounding. He was sure that Conan could hear it beating over, and over. He tried to stay calm and relaxed, but he just couldn’t relax his tense muscles. After all, he had been training vigorously for this.

Shadow looked up at Conan in awe. “So this is the recruiter”, he thought. “Hopefully he’ll let me join the guild.”
“Can I join the guild?“ Shadow asked. “I’m a great tracker, and I’ve brought a green ember as a gift.“ Let me show you my skills.
Although he was showing a calm front, inside Shadow was scared. “What is I fail?” he thought. But he knew that he couldn’t show his doubts, and let them overtake him.
