Abeline nodded. "Yeah, you're right, I hadn't even thought of that. If we're going to hide among humans, we will need to buy an apartment or something. If we are to follow through with your plan, it should be somewhere were a lot of people, so nowhere like a forest. Even a homeless shelter would be okay." Abeline shook her head. "I'm not sure that we have anywhere that we could go is safe from things other than, you know, demons."

Abeline shrugged. "I don't have a better one, no. But... wouldn't that be a bit obvious? I mean, I know the tactic works in movies and stuff, but... would it actually work in real life? I mean, this choice could honestly be the junction in our lives were we choose a path that leads to life, or one that leads to death." She studied her shoes, swaying slightly on her feet. "That's just what I think." She murmured quietly.

Abeline shook her head, the last vestiges of a headache still milling in her brain. Wincing, she gingerly pressed her forefinger to her temple. "Where will we go? I mean, they will eventually find us, right?" She bit her lip. "They're everywhere. Demons aren't just in the underworld, they're in people too." Suddenly, goose-pimples prickled her skin and she rubbed her arms.

Abeline blinked a couple of times before giving a gruff grunt and standing up. Stars teased her vision, but she ignored them. All the people in the area ignored her, but she could imagine what they were thinking. Poor thing. Shouldn't be hanging around those people. She's so young... Maybe she was being paranoid, but then maybe she wasn't. "We should probably keep moving." She said, more to herself than the others.

"Awful," Abeline said. Her tongue felt thick, like it was buried under a mountain of cotton. Pins and needles pricked behind her eyes, and her vision swam in and out of focus. "How did we escape? What park are we in? Are there any people nearby?"

Warm fingers enclosed her forearm. Her eyes rolled underneath eyelids wildly. Breaths began to heave out of her in wild gasps. Faster and faster they came, until it seemed like she was just sucking in one, long breath.
Then suddenly it stopped.
Silence.
Her heaving ceased.
And then one large, juddering breath was suddenly pulled into her lungs. Her eyes snapped open, and her tongue flicked out and swiped across her lips. "Where am I?" She asked groggily. Her head was spinning and aching and pounding, pounding, pounding.

Abeline did not dream. She did not feel the demons clawing at her. She did not hear Trauma shouting for Fallow. She was in a dark pool of nothing, floating, floating, floating.

(Yeah, I had no idea what to write q-q)

It was when Abeline was clotted against the side of her head when she had a sudden realization: we can't win. Stars blinked at the side of her vision, and her limbs felt heavy. She staggered, trying to keep a grasp on reality. The demon she had been fighting wasted no time in hitting her across the head once more to loosen her grip on consciousness. Then she was falling...

The elf was an amazing fighter. Abeline noted this as he dashed over to assist her. His bows and arrows flew like it was nothing, and his daggers would only flash for an instant before disappearing into an enemy. She fought beside him, feeling like a large and clumsy bear next to a graceful wildcat.

Abeline's back ached. Her arms throbbed. Her legs were shaking. The repeated morphing into and out of her deer form was really taking the toll on her body. Oh, and the swarm of demons around her wasn't helping much either.
She hissed at one in a desperate attempt to protect her flank. Of course, it wasn't scared off. Rather, it growled right back before slashing a wound open in her hip. She groaned as blood began to flow. The pain was surprisingly dull underneath all the adrenaline, but she was losing blood fast. She couldn't bear to give up now, though. Not when her friends were right by her side, fighting just as hard as she was.

Abeline flung herself into the fray. She let out grunts as demons attacked her from all sides. She briefly morphed into her human form, but swung around deer arms to knock a few demons out of her way. She was doing no serious damage, she realized suddenly as three she had felled sprung to their feet. She had to be lethal in this battle. These weren't people. These were monsters. With that thought in her head, she fought even harder than before.

Abeline saw Trauma land silently out of the corner of her eye. "Ah." She said, tensing her muscles and staring straight ahead. "So you're Trauma." She paused, listening. "Well," she said, ducking to dodge an arrow, "I hope you're good at fighting." And then the first wave of demons burst from the underbrush, holding bows that danced with blue flame.

Abeline's ears flicked backwards automatically. "About a quarter mile away, and gaining fast." She paused for a moment, fighting for breath. All of those years alone in the woods really had done her more harm than good. "Maybe we should stand here and fight them. I mean..." she paused, gasping for air, "wouldn't it be better to face them head on rather than have them attack from behind?"

(gasping intensifies...er?)
Abeline nodded assent to Marshall's request, but she wouldn't actually do it. The duo had not meant to lead the demons to her, and she would never be able to bear the guilt of leaving them behind in danger. Especially now that their magic was mostly or totally depleted.
The two demon twins, despite being exhausted from their use of magic, set a fast pace, and Abeline struggled to keep up at first. Eventually, she gave up trying to keep up in her human form and followed after in her deer form, bounding among the brambles that grabbed her legs. She kept her face un-morphed, just in case she needed to talk at any time. She was finding that as she was practicing her skills, they were becoming more flexible and bendable.

(*dramatic gasp* No...! I cannot believe you are being so nice to me! *another dramatic gasp*)
Abeline tensed. Her hyper-sensitive ears caught onto the gentle footfalls of the demonic soldiers. Her ears morphed into her deer ones to pick up on the sound better. Now, she could hear the labored breathing of a few soldiers and the dozens of feet striking the ground at the same time. She shook her head. "We need to move. They're coming this way. If we don't leave quickly, they'll catch us." She paused, swiveling her ears this way and that. "They're about a mile away, but moving extremely fast." She glanced at the twins, her expression foreboding. "They should be here within minutes."

(Sorry it took me so long to respond! I have been very busy this week. x.x)
Abeline grabbed Fallow's other arm. "I'm fine... but you're not." She said, shaking her head. "You need to stop using your magic..." She paused a moment, glaring at her sodden boots. "Who is this Trauma anyways? Friend of yours? Enemy you're trying to take out?"

Abeline dropped to one knee, unused to her sudden weight. Cat tails gently swayed around her, and frogs leaped by her feet. She stood shakily, and spit out a mouthful of water. Her legs were shaking and her whole arm was trembling. She could hear the angry cries of the demon soldiers as they realized what had happened. "We need to go farther away." She shook her head. "Can you teleport us somewhere? Or does your magic have a certain limit?"

Urgency laced Abeline's voice as she rapidly spoke. "Fallow! Marshall! The demons are right on the shoreline...! Not to mention that we're really close to that Mermaid pod." She bit her lip. "We need to get out of here." The saltwater was beginning to sting her eyes, and her skin would surely be unbearably dry after this ordeal.

Abeline was blasted back as Fallow flew out of the water. The creatures hadn't noticed her--yet. They were still swarming the area where Fallow and Marshall had been paddling moments earlier. She bit her lip, knowing that the waters were no longer safe. "Oh crap." She muttered, realizing that the soldiers on the shoreline had most likely noticed the tussle with the mermaids or whatever the creatures were, and probably saw wherever Fallow and Marshall had disappeared to. Her eyes grazed the nearby trees, searching for the two before their enemies found them.
