Title: Shipping

Listening to: The Eternal Diva's Song- Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva OST

I was going to add a "Favorite Ships" section to the first post, but then I realized I would have to split it up by series and I didn't want to clutter up the rest of the list. So... new post. Yay!

I debated whether or not to put all the ones I like or just the ones I actively support. So I'll just italicize my favorites. :3

(Also, beware of spoilers for the respective series.)

Show hidden content
Professor Layton: Layton/Claire, Layton/Emmy, Luke/Flora, Clive/Flora, Anton/Sophia, Foster/Aria

Tales of: Genis/Presea, Sheena/Zelos, Luke/Tear, Guy/Natalia

Kingdom Hearts: Sora/Kairi

Sonic: Sonic/Amy (once she stops being so obsessive)

Fire Emblem: Awakening: Henry/Cherche, (Male) Morgan/Lucina, Chrom/(Female) Robin

Huh. Now that I've actually typed it out, it's a lot smaller than I thought it would be. I'm not an obsessive shipper, but I like to d'awww over certain character couples every once in a while. XP

Post will likely be edited in time as I think of the ones I've forgotten.

EDIT: Herp derp, I could've just put it in the first post using spoiler tags. Oh well, might as well keep it here now.

"Okay," Bracken said, still catching his breath. Out of curiosity, he experimented with his wings, pulling them in and out, in and out. The movement was awkward and felt strange, and he had a feeling it'd take a long time to get used to the alien limbs. But as he sat there, the weight of what he had just accomplished finally hit him. He was actually a Dragon type! Yeah, Lunaro had helped, but with some more practice he was sure he'd be able to do it no problem. He laughed, though it came out a bit breathy.

"Wow..." Bracken said finally. "Is there anything I could try?" he asked, eager to try out his new powers but not sure where to begin.

Bracken listened to Lunaro as intently as he could and nodded. With her taking some of the painful energy, he was finally able to relax his hold on it a bit. The speed of the scales picked up, spreading from his arm to the rest of his body, and the burning sensation returned but not as sharp as before. He took several deep breaths, grateful for Lunaro's help, before grasping the power again. I can do this. I can do this. he reassured himself, sweat trickling down his face, feeling the slower progression spread down his back and up his neck. He nearly jumped with he felt the pain grow outwards from his back, steadily expanding. Those must be wings, he thought, grimacing a bit as scales covered his face.

Then, just as quickly as it had started, it ended. The burning dissolved into a dull fizzle as the power inside him calmed a bit. Shaking a bit, Bracken collapsed, landing hard on his bottom. He looked down at himself. The blueish-purple scales completely covered him, sharpening at the ends of his fingers and toes like makeshift claws. While he couldn't get a good look at them, he was just able to see the wings protruding from his back.

It was then that he noticed the Shuckle. Having never seen one before, he didn't notice that it was a Shiny. "Uh... hi," he said, in between panting breaths.

Bracken gasped as he felt a fierce power flow through him. It raged, seeming to tear away at him from the inside out, and he shut his eyes in pain. O-Okay... he thought, trying to quell his rising panic and biting his lip to stop himself from crying out. I-I can do this. Just... focus on it. Draw it out. I can... do this.

He concentrated on the raging power, willing it to come out. It was all too eager. At his first urge, Bracken felt something grow on his arm, but it burned. This time he couldn't keep himself from yelling in pain, and his eyes shot open. A patch of blue-purple scales was on his arm, steadily expanding, the pain spreading in its wake. He struggled to get control of it, trying to slow it down or, preferably, stop it altogether. While it did not do much, it slowed down a little, the burning lessening as well.

It was hard to keep his focus between the power that wanted to get out and his hurting arm, but Bracken knew that if he let go for even a second the burning would come back. He had managed to reduce it to a small but still painful sting, but he couldn't stop its spreading. His breathing was hard and he didn't know how much longer he could hold onto it.

"H-Help..." he managed to whisper, gritting his teeth.

Bracken turned back to Lunaro as she changed into her Dragon form. Despite his ongoing concern about Crystal, he felt a surge of excitement. He'd been too preoccupied with his thoughts before, but watching the Zoroa try out her new Ghost type had really made him anxious to try too.

"Okay," he said, taking a deep breath. "I'm ready."

Bracken shook his head. Seeing that she was upset, he wanted to volunteer to go with her, but he could tell she probably just wanted some time to herself. "Just... be careful, okay?" he said, genuinely concerned.

"N-No, it's not your fault at all!" Bracken said quickly. She didn't seem to remember what had happened, so he figured he might as well tell her. "While you were doing your Dark type demonstration, you said something. Er, I mean, it wasn't you, it was something else, and it said to not underestimate the darkness and that evil was lurking in it." He forced himself to keep even with Crystal's gaze and not look away. "Just startled me a little, is all."

Bracken stiffened as a voice that was definitely not Crystal's spoke, his nervousness twisting into fear. What... was that? he thought, shaking a bit. It had been so cold and foreboding; had the darkness grown so strong that it had gained a voice? Or... was it something else?

Realizing how spooked he was getting, Bracken focused his attention on Crystal's attempt at the Ghost type. Lunaro had managed to dispel the darkness, much to his relief, but yet it still lingered in the far corner of his mind, refusing to be forgotten.

Bracken nodded, still smiling. "I'd like to at least try," he responded. He looked over to see how Crystal was doing and cried out in surprise when he saw that she was completely enshrouded in darkness. He took a step towards her but thought better of it as Lunaro dove towards her, ripping the swirling blackness away from her. Not able to do anything, he watched the Poochyena struggle to tame the dark matter, a nervous feeling in the pit of his stomach.

Bracken smiled widely at the praise and nodded. He closed his eyes for the third time and put a hand on the ground. He focused on the earth around him, feeling for spots that had unused potential energy. Locating a few, he took a deep breath and slowly began to draw it in. Once he had gathered it together, he exhaled long and slow, letting his own energy flow into the spot, sensing it mix together. He concentrated, making sure he didn't put too much in too quickly. Feeling his energy beginning to grow a bit separate from the energy in the ground, he opened his eyes to see how he had done.

A little daisy smiled up at him, its petals shining white. Bracken resisted the urge to do a little hop of delight and instead smiled even wider than he had before.

Bracken bit his lip. Sensing life? He knew how, but he felt less confident in his ability to actually do it. "Hmm, I'll try, " he said, closing his eyes again. Taking Lunaro's advice, he didn't push himself, trying to feel out the forest as naturally as he could.

At first, nothing came to him. But the more he focused, the more he sensed what seemed to be streams of life flowing up out of the ground. Ah, right, those are trees, Bracken thought, relieved that he was feeling anything at all. The streams diverged into smaller flows in the branches until they ended at the leaves. The leaves almost seemed to glow, absorbing the energy from the bright sunlight. He smiled; he liked their warm feeling.

Deciding to focus on just the one tree, he traced the flow until he reached the top. Satisfied, he opened his eyes. Though he felt a little drained, he felt better than after he'd grown the grass.

"I can definitely feel life around me," Bracken said, after waiting for Lunaro to finish her demonstration to Crystal. "It just takes a little focus, is all."

Got a few lag spikes, but managed to get a good 240 or so clicks. :)

Great going, everyone! Though we didn't make it, we sure got through those 20,000 quickly. :3

Bracken's eyes widened a little in surprise. Dragon type? He'd never seen one, but he'd heard they were quite powerful. He remembered one of the stories his dad had told him before he left, about meeting and traveling with such a Pokemon for a short time. What had he called it? A Salamence?

A little off-put by the sudden reminder of his dad, Bracken's expression dampened. He pushed the thought to the back of his mind and looked up as Lunaro changed into her Grass type, watching as a flower spring up from the ground. Figuring that she'd like to see him do something similar, the Treecko knelt down and dug his fingers into the earth. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, focusing his energy into the ground. Determined to show the Poochyena what he was really capable of, he strained, urging plantlife to grow.

Finally feeling his strength give out a little, he stopped and opened his eyes. A patch of grass had appeared in front of him, a little less than half his height. Huh. Not too bad, he examined, although he felt like he could've done a bit more.

Still breathing a little hard from racing Crystal, Bracken nodded. He felt a twinge of annoyance from the fact that Lunaro had asked yet again if they wanted to join, but didn't let it show. He was entirely serious about wanting to become a Crystalnigh. If she didn't believe his words, well, he'd just prove it through his actions.

"Soo... how do we start then?" he asked, looking over to Crystal for a second before putting on his best game face.

Listening to: More London Streets (Live)- Professor Layton and the Unwound Future OST

Dang it, Gamescom. I used to be all chill about waiting for Layton 6 to come out next year, but you just had to get me excited and impatient again. D:

Honestly, this is the most anxious I've been to play a game in a while. The Professor Layton series has always been close to me ever since I played Curious Village in 2008. The fact that it's grown and improved so much astounds me. And now, at the very peak of it's quality, it's coming to an end.

I have no problems with the series ending. While I've always looked forward to getting a new Layton game every year, I'd hate to see him become stale like so many other yearly releases. I really respect Level 5's decision, especially since they've pulled out all the stops to give the professor a truly epic send-off. And that's why waiting for the game to release is so hard.

It's the same excitement I had for Unwound Future, times ten. The last two games and the movie have all built up to this: an amazing face-off between Layton and his toughest enemy yet, where he will uncover the secret of the ancient civilization of the Azran and perhaps some secrets of his past as well. Miracle Mask built up Layton's character a ton and I really do care about him more as a person. And, gosh darn it, Azran Legacy just looks freaking awesome.

When it comes down to it, I'll end up doing what I always do when I'm waiting for a game to release: stay alert for any news and gameplay videos while avoiding spoilers as best I can. But for now, my inner Layton fangirl has been awakened and it's itching to get a taste of my favorite English gentleman's new adventure.

...It's times like this that I marvel that Azran Legacy has been out in Japan since February.

Six hours and I've only had one Burmy that I scared away. I was hoping to get something before I had to go to bed, but I guess I'll just have to try again tomorrow. :/

Bracken smiled widely, a warm satisfaction filling him from being able to help. His tail twitched playfully as Crystal stuck out her tongue at him and he scrambled after her to catch up. "Like you could outrun me!" he responded and laughed, running even with her and looking over with a challenge in his eyes.

Bracken's face grew even hotter when Crystal laughed, but instead of getting upset he smiled, glad that his pathetic attempt at comforting had cheered her up. He looked up as she responded, his mouth slightly open as she began to walk away.

"Wait!" The word escaped his mouth before he even knew it was there. "I... I know how you feel. I, er..." he tried to think of the right words, but decided to let it all tumble out instead. "If you're calling yourself a failure, then I'm ten times worse than you. At least you're great at tricking people and keeping them fooled. You even had Lunaro fooled, and she's the leader of the Chrystanigh! Me, I try to make my brother relax a little and I end up lost in my own home." He sighed. "Maybe neither of us can be of much help to Lunaro. But from what she told us, the Chrystanigh didn't rely on the few who were strong to hold themselves up. They worked together as a team. So, maybe, when we end up failing and feel useless, we'll be there to pick each other up."

Bracken's heart pounded in his chest. He hadn't meant to say all that, but he honestly meant it and wasn't about to take it back. "If you want to go, I won't stop you," he said, looking down again. "But if you don't, I'll be with you every step of the way."

"Ah, okay," Bracken responded, accepting the explanation that he knew wasn't true. He shuffled his feet once again. Silence reigned. With each passing second, he felt more and more awkward. He had thought earlier that he wasn't good at comforting people, but he had no clue he was this bad. He fumbled for words, putting together sentences in his mind that would make Crystal feel better, but in the end he discarded all of them.

Deciding that anything was better than this silence, Bracken forced the words out of his mouth. "Er, do you want to go back? The Glameow didn't mean to, um, upset you like that. Or... uh, do you, y'know, need some more time to yourself?" he stumbled. He felt his face grow a bit hot. His words sounded stupid and not comforting at all and he just wanted to bury his face in his hands and groan but he didn't want to do that in front of Crystal, so he just looked down at his feet.

Bracken tensed a bit at being called a kid but then furrowed his brow. He... thought he had heard something a little while ago. It could've been a bell, but he hadn't really paid that much attention to it. He was about to say this to the Glameow, but she had already taken off, something else having caught her attention.

But her words still weighed heavily on his mind. What's past is past. He knew what she was implying. It was the same thing he had been struggling with earlier. But somehow... the fact that she had not scolded him or outright told him that he should go after Crystal made him finally get over his hesitation. She's right, he thought, sighing. I should go and make sure she's all right at least.

Bracken looked back over to Lunaro and Damian. "I'll... be right back," he said quickly, and then he darted off in the direction Crystal had gone. He climbed up a tree and jumped from branch to branch, keeping a lookout for the little fox. I hope she didn't go too far off. If I can't even find my way home, I'd never be able to find her. However, his worries were relieved when he finally saw the Zoroa sitting on the branch of a tree to his right. He slowed down and walked over, finally jumping down a few feet across from her.

Not knowing what to say, Bracken bit his lip. "Um, hey, Crystal..." he started, shuffling his feet. "You... alright?"
