Shine watched Brimstone at the grave, tears welling in her own eyes. Aurora was staring into the distance, her stare glazed, as if she wasn’t actually seeing anything. Maybe the Animus spells she’d cast had been too much for her.

Shadowslayer woke up to feel Doomhunter’s wing over her. Turning around, she saw him lying on an awkward angle, his wings and legs everywhere, and the sound of his deep, rumbling snoring echoing through the cave. A smile spread over her snout. But thoughts of gory vengeance chased away the gentleness, and she shook him awake roughly. “Wake up! It’s dawn- we need to get going if we’re going to get revenge,” she growled.

“Thank you...” she sighed, her eyes closing. Her sadness gave way to drowsiness as she fell asleep, looking strangely innocent in her dreams, despite the blood still glistening on her talons and splattered over her scales.

In the nearby rainforest, Aurora and Shine were also trying to get to sleep, but not nearly as successfully. In the end, they decided to just stay up and plan what they would do next.

Determination shone in Aurora’s eyes as she put forward her suggestion.
“We go to the IceWing prison and rescue Blizzard,” she growled.

Shine nodded. “Good idea. Do you think anyone else would want to come?”

“Maybe. We should probably go find them and ask them. They can’t have gone too far in a day.”

At Doomhnter’s touch, Shadowslayer burst into tears.
“I don’t know what to do! Everyone’s gone, there’s nothing left, it’s all death and I HATE THEM, especially that HORRIBLE dragon Aurora, they’re all so mean and I hate everything and the world’s falling, it’s going, it’s a shadow, and PROTECTOR’S GONE and I think I killed someone and I don’t know what to do...” Her voice faded into sobbing as she curled up, welcoming the warmth of Doomhunter. Then she looked up and saw Doomhunter’s eyes, with infinite kindness hidden in their black depths, she knew. “But you’ll help me, won’t you?”

(I’m back!)
Shadowslayer found herself at a mountainside cave and flapped into it, her mind barely functioning. She turned to see the form of Doomhunter following her. Somehow seeing him helped her focus on the present.

Aurora sat down in shock and confusion, the horrible events threatening to overwhelm her. Shine joined her and twined Aurora’s snake, Dewdrop, around her tail, comforting her. Blood dripped down Aurora’s neck, its colour a strange purple due to her being a hybrid. Aurora stared into the distance, ignoring its watery feeling. The sisters twined tails, comforting each other and sharing the horror.

Suddenly, as if by an unspoken agreement, they rose, and Aurora enchanted the soil to dig a hole in itself and bury Protector. For what was left of Spider they laid leaves over. Then, they left, without taking another look back at the graves- or at the chapter in their lives that they were leaving behind.

(Its just sad :,( )

Aurora stumbled back. “No- nonono no no...” she gasped, holding her front talons up in surrender. She didn’t want to mess with Shadowslayer, after seeing what had been done to Spider.

Shadowslayer leapt at Aurora, scoring a scratch down her neck.

Aurora blinked in shock, but roared at her rock, “DON’T LET HER SCRATCH ME AGAIN!” (Spent ages figuring out how to word that so it can be worked around later)
When Shadowslayer tried again to attack Aurora, her claws bounced harmlessly off her scales. Hissing in anger, Shadowslayer backed away. “I’ll get you someday- You just watch your back...” she snarled, before spreading her wings and soaring away, not caring where she was going, blinded with grief, anger and confusion. (Now I’m having dinner- will be back in half an hour ish)

Shadowslayer knew they were going in the right direction because her visions were growing stronger. She marvelled at how strong Doomhunter must be, carrying her. Sounds of a battle reached Shadowslayer’s ears, and she nodded at Doomhunter. “It’s here.” she grunted, the pain coming in waves. But a glance at him reminded her that she had to stay strong, because she would probably face even worse pain in coming years. Provided she survived this, of course. But Doomhunter would keep her safe, wouldn’t he?
Growling at herself, she wrestled out of his grip and peered through the leaves.

Aurora growled at her enemy. Triumph was showing in Spider’s eyes as she bent over Protector’s body. *NO!* Determined to stop the coming catastrophe, she sprang at Spider.

Surprised, Spider batted the blue dragon away. She had to teach them a lesson they wouldn’t forget. She shot her head forwards and bit down on the neck of her prey. The tang of blood wetted her tongue, and she savoured it.

Shadowslayer roared with horror and anger. Leaping out of the bushes with renewed strength, she ignored the pain in her neck. Shadowslayer bowled the other dragon over and slashed at her belly, tearing at everything she could reach. The dragon fell limp quickly, but Shadowslayer didn’t notice. Only when the body was an unidentifiable heap of blood and flesh did she stop. Then, she turned to Aurora.
“YOU.” she snarled. Flexing her claws, she strode towards the blue dragoness, everything else lost in a red haze.

(Wow that took 10 mins to write!)

“I... need to... keep going..” Shadowslayer murmured to Doomhunter.

Spider snared in outrage at the unexpected resistance to her attack. Wrestling her way out of the webs with years of practice, she slithered over to the body of her prey.

Aurora held her talons out and a rock flew into them, shards sliding off it as it sharpened by itself. She had to save Protector!

Shine gasped and shrunk back into the bushes. She felt something cold touching her and looked down at the beautiful, serpentine form of Aurora’s snake. An idea began to form in her head.

Aurora hissed, building up her gas in her throat, while striding towards Spider.

Spider knew that the other hybrid had no chance. But intimidation was the trick. She bared her teeth and poised herself over the neck of her prey.

(Hey Amberstorm can you get Doomhunter to help Shadowslayer? Get them 2 the clearing.)

Something felt like it punctured Shadowslayer’s chest, causing pain to flare up in her heart. She gave a shriek of agony and collapsed. “Help me, Doom...” she sighed.

Aurora gasped as the attacker turned to face her. They had eight legs and a tail barb which was dripping blood. Obviously a hybrid, they were mainly yellow with lime green and blood red stripes.

Hundreds of dragonethood (is that a word?) nightmares crashed over Shine as she was sunk into memories of spooky stories and horrible warnings. This face was the face of her darkest fears, the darkest fears of any RainWing dragonet- the face of Spider.

Spider looked at the newcomers. They were two more dragonet, looks of stunned horror on their faces. Hissing in triumph, she turned her barb back to ‘web’ and aimed at the larger one. A string of web shot out of it.

Aurora shook herself as the sticky white strands flew towards her. “Tie up Spider!” she commanded. The obviously insane hybrid’s bloodshot eyes opened wide as she was entangled in the web.

Suddenly the stick stopped moving. It quivered, as if not knowing the way to go. Then it pointed into some bushes, shaking. Aurora huffed. “I had no idea sticks had feelings,” she sighed to her sister, before pushing through the bushes.

Spider heard the other dragons coming, but ignored them. A bit of webbing would be enough for them, but she had to get this little one to shut up. Tired of his shrieking, she stabbed her tail barb into him.

It was agony. Something had been driven into his chest and it HURT! Protector writhed in pain, trying to get away from whatever was in him. With cold horror, he realised that he was losing control of his body. With a fearful squeak, he lost everything completely and keeled over, still awake but unable to do anything.

Aurora opened the leaves into the clearing just in time to see a disgustingly horrifying-looking dragon dig her tail into a dragon-shaped lump of white stuff. It writhed, before sinking onto the ground.

Shine chased after Aurora.

Shifting her barb from ‘webs’ to ‘paralyse’, Spider crept up on her prey.

Protector heard rustling and stopped moving, hoping it was Aurora. “Heelll...” He got a mouthful of web and coughed. “HELFFF!! HEELLLMMPPPP!!!!!”

Aurora heard Protector’s screams and shouted at the exasperatingly slow-moving stick to hurry up.

Spider brandished her barb, sneering at the yelling dragon. There was nothing anyone could do. Nobody could defeat her.

	Shadowslayer felt a bit embarrassed but didn’t let it show. “I need to go to the rainforest- something’s happening to my brother!” Without waiting for a response, she spread her wings and flapped away, not caring who followed. While she flew, she kept getting sensations of being tangled in something, and sometimes nearly fell right out of the sky. [Read more]

Luckily the trekking dragons were far enough away from the fire that even the smoke barely reached them. Protector pushed his way through the dense undergrowth, squinting to see in the dying light.

Spider heard the rustling grow closer. *Any moment now...*
A yelp from below, and Spider grinned. She would feast tonight.

Protector felt sticky threads tangling around him. *Three moons...!* He flailed around before realising he was just getting the strings even more entangled. “HELP!!” he roared.

Aurora woke with a start. She heard a distant roaring. Suddenly, she realised that Protector wasn’t one of the sleeping bodies around her.

Shadowslayer suddenly felt sticky threads closing in on her. She struggled and gasped for breath, but the strands grew tighter and tighter...
Suddenly, the sensation stopped, and she found herself standing next to Doomhunter, who was looking at her weirdly.
