I didn't want to hear his voice. Didn't want to listen to his pleads and whimpers, asking for forgiveness of his sins. The boy with the gorgeous green eyes, the dazzling smile, the perfect dirty blonde hair- asking me, begging me to save him. I didn't want to hear it.

...Several hours earlier...

"Hey, Sam, wanna go to the haunted house with me tonight?"

I stopped dead, completely frozen by the oh so simple question. Me? The recluse, the bland girl no one ever thought to notice, go the the Danger Zone- currently named the scariest haunted house in the state- with... With him? Jacob Summers, the gorgeous boy everyone wanted at all times of the year.

"Wh-" I began to stutter, only to be cut off by a finger on my lips.

"Cause I wanted to ask you- I'll pick you up around five, 'kay?"

All I could do was nod my head, utterly stunned by what had just happened. I'd been attempting to get his attention for years, so why was he coming to me now? When he had the choice of any girl in the entire school...
