Professor Sparmi was the one who spoke next. After waiting for the audience to calm down, he asked the first and second years to return to their dorms.

Samton and Tien were still with the king. The meeting to follow would be the strategy meeting, as they were all aware.

That evening, after the king returned, Samton was back to his regular clothes and was taking a walk near the forest. He did not have much of a reason, but to clear his mind. Tien was standing rather closely by, but did not bother him since he knew not to do so when Samton was deep in thought.

Chapter 8: When One Falls

The third week since I was adopted by the elves. Last week went by rather quickly, since they started teaching me various things. Luciel hasn’t shown any anger about the incident since then, so all in all, life has been very peaceful. However, for some reason, I kept on feeling something was wrong. As though something would happen.

It seems today, something did.

While Luciel and Markus were preparing to go on their daily patrols, a scream was heard. The three of us rushed out, and what greeted my eye was a horrifying sight. I could hardly explain it, frankly. Six people were walking towards the village, if they could even be called people. They had arrows piercing their heads. Their eyes were completely dead. Rather than walking, you could say they were basically crawling here, seeing as how slow they were. I have heard tales of zombies, but I thought those were only fictional? Nonetheless, these clearly fit no better description.
“Marciel, get back in there!” Luciel’s shout made me run back inside. I don’t even know what those are, I can only hope everyone will be fine. Oh I truly hope everyone will be fine.

As I was panicking, wondering what to do, the two came back in. They seemed to hardly be phased, and Luciel came forward and patted me. “Sorry, did you get scared? That’s not something a child like you should see.”

“What were they…?” I managed to ask. “And are you alright??” I could see they were fine, but since I had no clue what those were, I had to make sure.

“Yes Marci, we’re completely fine.” Luciel smiled, calming me down. She gave out a small grin as she lifted her head. “Do you think a few fallen could do us any harm?”

“Fallen?” Were those fallen? I had heard that name previously once, that those who did not obey the laws would be cursed to roam the world as fallens forever.

“Yes, fallen. Today, Elder Teril will tell you more. I suppose that would be better, than to get half baked information from us.” She chuckled and then returned to prepare her gear, while Markus went to the kitchen and got himself and me cups of herbal tea.

A few hours later, Elder Teril had just finished the arithmetic lesson. “Now,” Elder Teril spoke, “I suppose I must tell you what it was that you saw today.” He looked slightly grim as he gazed past me into nothingness. “Usually, this would not be a topic befitting one of your age, but since this concerns you, and since you have displayed what can only be called immense courage, I will tell you about it.” He sighed and then began speaking once again, starting with a question. “What do you know about death, Marciel? I have heard human education covers this rather early."
“Yes,” I replied, “I have learnt it to be a passing of one from one world to another. I have also heard of the Fairy of Death.”
“You seem to be informed. Well, the Fairy of Death is a being who governs the ‘gate’, so to speak, that lies between the two worlds. Now, there are two kinds of people who are not allowed to pass through.. The first kind, undeads, are beings that were chosen by death to continue in this world. More often than not, they are used as the workforce the Fairy of Death has on this side. The second kind, known as ‘The Fallen’, however, is not such an ‘honourable’ position.”

“When one’s actions go against Death’s rule, or when one is in violation of a contract Death has formed with the other spirits, then Death simply will not accept them. These people are punished to roam the world in suffering and pain till the Fairy of Death sees it fit to let them through. This may mean a few hours of suffering, or perhaps very many decades. If one dies while in this form, after a while one simply returns again, only even worse. This is a warning too, never to cross Death.”

Finally, the Elder turned to look at me again. The heavy topic made me feel the atmosphere was much heavier than ever prior. “Those six you saw today, they are ‘fallen’. I want you to be careful from now on, Marciel. They are not to be trifled with. In their suffering they might wish to subject all around them to the same. Remember to stay away from the outskirts, in particular.”

"I, I feel like I had seen them before." I said as I gazed questioningly at elder Teril.
"In all likelihood, they were the thugs who were transporting you. All the more reason to not engage them any farther, right?" He gave me a pat and smiled. "Don't remember what needn't be. Just enjoy the life you have been given."

Truly... the elven have been so kind to me.

Thank you, once again for reading. Please do let me know your thoughts. This chappy might have been a little on the darker side. If that's not your thing I apologize.

I had intended to post this a while ago but things happened so ye, here I am. Good news, I got into college, so I'll be able to post much more frequently than up until now, at least until classes start.

I hope you will continue to enjoy!!

"Thank you all for your wonderful performances! It is good to see that the Academy is as skilled as it always has been. The swordplay, archery, and magic were all fantastic. The illusion was good enough to appear real." The king spoke as the assembly quieted down. "The future of the Nation is in great hands." He smiled.

"Now, to the matter at hand." A sigh escaped the king as he began to speak. "I believe most of you have experienced the strange phenomena from a few days ago. I am referring to the sudden failure of Earth magic." Murmurs broke out in different parts of the hall but the looks from the professors were sufficient in quietening them down. His Majesty continued; "I'm quite certain a few of you might already be aware of the what we suspect might have happened. It is of no use to try and hide it. We believe there's a possibility Erdgeist, the Spirit which lords over the Earth element, has been severely hurt, if not... Well, what follows is chaos, as you may or may not be aware."

"Most students here, especially second year and onwards, would be aware that certain elements, and therefore certain elementals, clash against each other, effectively keeping themselves in check. However, now that the Earth elementals have weakened considerably, the water elementals no longer posses an enemy, nor do the air elementals posses a prey. This unexpected unbalance is similar to a small ripple which in turn grows into a huge wave. As future knights and mages, you will have an important role in preventing that."

"For now," the King spoke now in a concluding manner, "the students from the fifth year will be part of the expedition team, aiming for Erdgeist's abode. The third and fourth years will assist in defeating monsters which will try to approach the residential area. The first and second years will continue with their education for now. More will be informed to you sufficiently soon. What is utmost important is that you do not panic. Spirits are resilient beings, and do not perish easily. Sufficiently soon, we will be able to return to the normal."

The applause for the second was followed by the third stepping forward. He was a white haired boy who was rather short. His clothes were stylish, yet simple. From appearances alone, it was easy to see that he was from neither a noble family nor a mercantile one. A few first years silently scoffed, but the combined stares from the teachers, as well as His Majesty, Principal Sparmi, and Samton were enough to quieten them. He came empty handed, and gave a deep bow and spoke. "I am Luther Lark, a mage-in-education. I would like to present my magic.

With this, he took a step near the center of the field. Then, concentrating all his might, with closed eyes, he raised his right hand to the sky.

A huge gust of wind arose from the center of the field. It almost appeared as though a typhoon was forming. There's something in there... Tien observed correctly. As the wind died down and everyone looked to see what it was, there, soaring in the sky, was an eagle so huge it was nearly impossible to see the ceiling. What was more, it seemed to have a greenish hew to it. "It's Spigaoithe!" One student shouted. Indeed, it seemed to be the true spirit of wind, Spigaoithe. As the audience watched in awe, it flapped it's wings once more, sending winds all over the hall. After doing so, it shrunk and disappeared, leaving another gust of wind behind it.

What had just happened had only been processed by some. The boy bowed and stepped back, to which the king nodded in approval.

Spigaoithe is from "spiorad gaoithe", Irish for Wind spirit.
To those who did not understand, The student used light and wind magic to create an illusion of the wind spirit. This will be stated in the next post so u may, if u want, have ur characters to play dumb till then.

The second stepped forward as the applause for the first died down. A blue haired girl, she wore clothing that were stylish, yet not gaudy. From the looks of it, it would appear she were the daughter of a baron or perhaps a smaller viscount, but she was, in reality, the daughter of a merchant. She carried with her a bow and 10 arrows. She too, bowed before His Majesty and introduced herself; "I am Geneva Conve, a Knight-in-education as well. I would like to present my archery."

As she introduced herself, Prof. Angler stood closer to the field. She nocked the arrow, took a deep breath, and nodded. Prof Angler took out a stack of ten targets and kept it beside him. Then, taking one up, he threw it in front of her, propelling it using wind magic. The audience could hardly see it fly by, but as it hit the wall on the opposite side and dropped down, there was an arrow right in the dead center of it.

As if the first was a warm up, Prof. Angler started throwing the rest, and threw five with very little time in between. Arrows had hit all five of these, of which one was dead center too.

"Final stretch!" Prof Angler proclaimed, after which he threw the final four nearly simultaneously.

Geneva had already prepared for this. While Prof. Angler was proclaiming it to be the final stretch, she had already taken all the arrows. To easily access them, she had bit on to the rest. As funny as it might look to someone who was untrained in archery, one look from her deadset eyes would be sufficient to cause them to think otherwise. Unbroken concentration was placed upon the targets even before they were thrown, and she shot them all just as she had planned.

Although none of them hit the dead center, each one had hit the target. The king himself was impressed, and he nodded as Geneva gave a bow and stepped back.

*Ahem* Sparmi cleared his throat, drawing the attention of the students. He stood up, and with his voice enhanced by Wind Magic, he welcomed His Majesty to the Academy and the event. Sir Fisch brought in a single Aster flower and presented it to His Majesty, who placed it in his lapel. As Sir Fisch bowed and returned, Sparmi returned to his seat and the king spoke, still seated.
"It is always a pleasure to see the new, young and talented of the nation. I am glad to see the Academy thriving as it always has been and always will be. Today, I am here due to circumstances at least a few of you would be aware of. As we have always done, I would like to see how good the second years are. Principal Sparmi, if you would please."
Sparmi nodded in response and stood up. The students who were seated front, the first years, were surprised as they suddenly felt themselves moving. As though the ground was expanding, there was now a huge area in front of them. From the second years, three people presented themselves.

The first, a red haired boy who was dressed in clothing befitting a duke, bowed before the king and spoke. "I am Mariel Reinbach, a Knight-in-education. I would like to present my swordsmanship."

Bowing once more, Mariel took a step forward, into the field. He then drew his sword. A rapier. He kept it vertically, in line with his body, with the blade pointing upwards. It's around the length of the distance between his armpits to the floor. Clearly custom-made, huh. Tien thought to himself. As Mariel took each breath slowly in, and let them slowly out, the entire field became calm. In a split second, that calmness dissipated as Mariel kept slashing in quick succession. With unbroken form, it was clear to see no movements were wasted, yet the sound of the sword cutting through wind resounded clearly. As expected of a user of such a light weapon, his movements and speed were quite impressive. As he brought the demonstration to a close, he lowered the rapier, bowed, and stepped back.

"Such interesting conversations you have, students." Sparmi's voice rang through the hall which suddenly turned quiet. "I believe there is no need for me to inform you any further on the one who will be joining us soon. Keep to your best behaviour, and make your family, as well as the academy, proud. His Majesty will be joining us soon."

Just as he stopped, the sound of a trumpet resonated in the hall. The students who were either standing or seated all knelt, bowing. The sound was blown once more, and then followed the king's 'procession'.

The procession was led by The Commander of The Royal Knights (The army) and The Commander of The Royal Guard (The guards for the royal family). The two stood on either side of the throne that was in the hall. The King who arrived behind them walked gracefully, head held high. He walked to his seat and stood facing the audience. The prince, who followed him, stood my his side, and Tien knelt behind the prince. Once the king came to a halt, the Commanders knelt as well, followed by the Prince. "Raise your heads." His Majesty spoke calmly yet sufficiently loudly. Those kneeling raised there heads, yet did not move from their kneeling form. "Greetings to you all, future knights and mages of our dear nation. Today I come in doubt, and the reason shall be informed to you as well shortly. Be at ease." Saying so, he took his seat on the throne. The four seats next to The king were occupied by Samton and the Commander of The Royal Guard on one side and The Commander of The Royal Army and Professor Sparmi on the other. Behind Samton stood Tien Sebas. Behind the king was another in butler clothes, who looked similar to Tien. This, of course, was Tian Sebas, the butler of the king.

After the four took their seats, the teachers rose, followed by the students.

"Perhaps a little cooling is something we all so dearly need." Tien replied while passing by Kynik. He chuckled lightly as he entered his room and started preparing his clothing. A black suit on a white shirt and equally black pants. Unlike the prince, his dress was obviously extremely simple. He did, however, wear the royal bejewel bracelet only the most trusted of the royal family would be able to procure. Lastly, he wore the Blade Servitutis in his suit.

Having now prepared, he left for the Principal's office. As per custom, he is to enter the ceremony hall following the prince, who himself would enter following the king.

The hall was being prepared for the event soon. There were already some students arriving, Prof. Angler observed. Nobility always confused him, seeing how the students who arrived were all dressed as if to a ball. The meeting between students and the king this time is meant to be a showcase of skills for the older students, followed by an announcement explaining the recent... issue. Sir Fisch, who was nearby and heard Prof Angler's sigh, gave him a flick, forcing him back into reality. "Don't sweat it. As you know, nobles have to take every chance they get to look good before the king."
"Like you are not one, Sir Fisch." Prof. Angler replied as he continued setting the chairs.

Aiight timeskip to after the king has arrived

It had been quite a while indeed, since Samton had last worn such an outfit. As his father, the king, had arrived the previous day, a meeting between the students and his highness was certainly in order. Nobility who do not take the occasion to adorn themselves to the fullest would be seen as fools at best and traitors at worst, and himself, being the prince, was obligated to be 'the best' when the time comes. That meant, of course, wearing court fashion which none but the gaudiest of nobles could wear without being embarrassed. The white shirt he wore had gemstones for buttons, and the pockets and lapel of his suit were gold. Even this description was far too little to completely describe what he wore but Samton was too embarrassed to even think further of it.

"Oh my, your Majesty!" Tien chuckled as he saw Samton walking out in those clothes. Irritated, Samton glared at him. Tien, who was soaked by Samton's water magic, ran to dry his hair and replace his cloths as Samton slipped away to the principal's office. The event would be in less than an hour, and he did not wish to be seen like so a moment longer than necessary.

Chapter 7: Choose A Weapon

As we walked to the outskirts, I noticed that something akin to a shooting range had been set up. Targets were kept propped up on trees, and on a tree nearby a bow and a quiver were hung. Markus, who seemed to have been setting the targets up, noticed us and took the bow, brought it to me and handed it over.
“First, hold the bow with your left hand, since you are right-handed. Make sure to hold it on the cloth near the center. Now raise it up so your hands are straight and parallel to the ground. This is the general position you must master. Now, try drawing the bow. Simply try without an arrow.” Markus instructed me and I tried following his words. The bow was somewhat hard to draw, frankly. Markus nodded and took the bow from me.
“Now watch as I demonstrate.” He said, before taking an arrow out and placing it on the bow. Unlike my imagination, it appears the arrow is kept on top of his finger, rather than held in place. Markus aimed at one of the targets, and let go of the string. Instantly, the bow shot out of the arrow and pierced the target, rather close to the center. “Usually,” Markus said while I was still staring at the arrow, “we would use wind magic as well, to guide the arrow to hit it perfectly in the center. It’d also be made faster.”

“Well it’an be whatever it’d be.” Mr. Ischiros said as he walked up to us. “Kiddo, whether yer gonna learn archery or not, yer gonna do well if ya pick a weapon from what I showed ye. Don’cha forget, bows are not gon’ help ya when ya run outta arrows, or if yer enemy’s already up at yer nose. So, what’ll it be, hmm? Are ya gonna pick somethin’ now, or do ya want some time to think?”

It really is a rather hard decision, frankly. Honestly, a sword sounds really great, but using one for hunting will be difficult. If I recall what Mr. Ischiros said correctly, they only fit against opponents with weapons. I can somewhat see why, since there are much heavier options like the axe, and much longer options like the spear.

Picking an axe just doesn’t feel right for me, since I’d have a hard time lifting and swinging it. Same applies to a hammer. I suppose that left me with but one choice.

“Mr. Ischiros, I think I’ll pick a spear.” It was hard not to choose the sword, since even I had fantasies of being a knight in shining armor, wielding a mighty sword. Their processions in front of the orphanage after they return from an expedition of sorts was always rather fun to watch. However, since I’m living here, I’d like to be able to help out sooner or later. For hunting and repelling monsters, the spear seems to be the best choice.

“I see kiddo. Sure. Here, ya can have this fer now.” Saying so, Mr. Ischiros reached inside his bag and pulled out the spear I practiced with earlier. “Yer gonna get yer new spear in a week or so, so ‘til then ye can learn usin’ that.” Mr. Ischiros said, and then picked his bag up. “I’m gonna get to the smithy here. If ya need somethin from me, just come, yea?” Saying this, he left.
“Thank you so much, Mr. Ischiros!” I shouted as he left. “Ya no worries kiddo. Enjoy yer spear!.” He replied as he left.

“Well well, Marci. Want to try your weapon? You can try supporting me.” Markus pointed to a nearby boar.
“I thought elves don’t eat meat?” I was rather surprised at his proposition. Why would we hunt when we don’t eat?
“Well elves don’t, but you’re human, aren’t you? There’s no problem if you have some. Besides, we don’t eat it because our body doesn’t do well with it. It’s got nothing to do with traditions anyway.” Markus said as he urged me to my weapon.
“Umm, well, I don’t know how to fight, though?” Frankly I could imagine Elder Teril’s anger as he scorns the two of us for trying to do something I should not have.
“It’s fine, it’s fine. I’ll fight it so you can just poke at it from behind. Let’s just keep your involvement a secret, ok?”
Well I suppose I can’t deny if I’m being asked like that. I nodded a yes and picked up my spear. As the bear had been nibbling at something, it had barely moved. Picking his bow up, Markus aimed at it and fired at its back.

Wait… why does he even need me here?! Whatever be the case, I crept up to it’s back while it was confused. As it started charging at Markus, I threw my spear.

Which completely missed the boar. Frankly, I do not know what I was trying to achieve, but the spear completely missed the boar. It seems as though Markus got surprised by it, and he did not fire his arrow in time. The boar rushed closer and closer and he seemed to be in real danger. If only he had not aimed at first, intending to have me help. He would most certainly have been able to kill the boar. I should have refused. Why did I not refuse. Oh no!!

The boar reached Markus, hit him, and the two flew back. However, the boar did not move. An arrow had struck it at it’s head, and it was dead. Shocked, I searched around, looking for who or what caused this. Standing nearby, with a bow in her hand, was Luciel. Looking at her, I immediately knew. She was mad.
She gripped the bow tightly and went to Markus and the boar, who were still lying down on the ground. Instead of helping him up, she just gave the boar a kick and then started walking to me. Her eyes were red, and honestly, if my legs had not lost strength right about now, I would have ran.
“Marciel my dear.” Her rather calm voice sent chills down my spine. “Do not, ever, do such a reckless thing again. Understand?” Words had fled from my mouth a long time ago, and I nodded. She lightened up immediately, and then held out a hand for me. “Don’t make others worry, alright? Everything has a proper time, so until then, control yourself.” Silently, I got up with her help. “We don’t want anything bad happening to you. So please never try such a thing. Promise?” I nodded aggressively, seeing as there was nothing else I could do. She started leading me to the village.

“Umm... well… about Mr. Mar-” I tried my best to bring out the last bit of voice left in me to ask.
“Oh, we’ll let him enjoy the outdoors a bit more.”

Scary! At this moment I decided never to cross Luciel again.

Chapter 7 is here! This is very late, I apologize. I will only be getting way busier tomorrow onwards, since I will be starting to prepare for the entrance exams next year. So I am afraid I cannot promise a weekly or biweekly upload anymore, so sorry again.

Please tell me what you think... (PP or PM is fine)
All sorts of advices, opinions and criticisms would be appreciated. Thank you for reading! ^^

Chapter 6: Education

After the banquet ended, everyone returned to their homes. Seeing as how drunk they were, I suppose that was for the best. At night, I, along with Markus and Luciel, went to the ceremony hall once more. There, I was given the gemstone, welded into the form of a bracelet. The gemstone, which was once colourless, was now a shade of purple with a prominent strike of green. With utmost gratitude, I accepted and put it on. The purple-green jewel gleamed in the moonlight, giving it a wonderful luster.

“The Emperor of the Wind has blessed me?!”

Currently I am at the ceremony hall once again. The classes for me Elder Teril promised to hold started today. Soon after settling down, he introduced me to what I would be learning.
“You will be taught the elven language, arithmetic, botany, history, use of your choice weapon, and wind magic.” Elder Teril put all the books he had in hand down as he spoke. It was truly a very useful set of subjects; except…
“I am truly thankful, Elder. However, I can’t use magic, you know?”
Humans, in general, are unable to use magic. A person, depending on the species, may be able to use one or two of the elements their species can master, but humans cannot master any. There are still rare cases of mages and wizards, but I don’t know how they can master it.

“Normally that would be true.” Elder Teril smiled and continued. “Humans are unable to use magic. Elves are capable of using wind and water magic. DIfferent species have different aptitudes. That is true. However, that is only the case for cast magic, and even for casted magic, there is another way.”
Elder Teril opened a book with a blue binding, to a page that seemed to be somewhere near the middle. “Firstly, magic circles. Although time consuming, they allow you to use whichever magic you wish to.” Saying this, he showed me an illustration of a magic circle.
“Now for casted magic,” he continued while I was still gazing at the circle, snapping my attention back to him. “You can cast magic which your species normally cannot, through spirits. Such magic is accessible through contracts or blessings. In short, The Emperor Caelrigas has blessed you with wind magic.”

I was shocked, and truly thankful. As Elder Teril continued to explain to me, spirit contracts are rather difficult to form and maintain, as the spirit provides magic in exchange for the other party’s mana or blood. On the other hand, blessings are simply blessings, and the magic is granted for nearly nothing in return.

“Magic aside, it is about time for you to pick your weapon. Here he comes.” As Teril spoke, I heard someone dragging something on the floor. Turning around, I saw someone about the same height as me, perhaps a little shorter, who was dragging a bag nearly three times his size behind him, as if it was nothing. Moreover, although he seemed short, he also looked rather old. “He’s Ischiros. A dwarven blacksmith from the nearby mountains. He was the one who made your bracelet.”

Hearing the elder, I stood up, turned around and bowed slightly. “Thank you very much, Mr. Ischiros!”
Putting his bag down, he turned to me and grinned. “Watcha talkin’ bout? O’course it’s fine! More importantly kiddo, hear yer gunna get yerself a weapon. I’ve brought some many weapons with me. Trials, o’course. Give ‘em a try and pick whichever one ya feel fits ye, nah?”
Saying this, Mr Ischiros opened his bag and started rummaging through his belongings. Frankly, it was rather hard to follow him, speaking so fast. Still, excited as I was, I walked up to him.

Suddenly, and rather startlingly, he pulled out a sword from his bag. He then held it out to me, his same big smile unwavering. “Try swingin’ it, kiddo!” Lifting the sword up, I swung it from up to down a few times. It felt somewhat heavy, honestly. Almost as if he made the same observation, Mr. Ischiros took out another weapon, this time a spear, and gave it to me.

The spear, truly, felt much easier. It’s not a weapon meant to swing, but to thrust. That’s what Mr. Ischiros had said as he passed me it. The spear felt much lighter and easier, although it was still rather awkward. Well, it was my first time, after all. Though tales of Knights are nothing new to me, I have never once held a weapon myself. It is only natural that I feel awkward with them.

What followed was a hammer. There is one thing I realized as I tried lifting it; it is much heavier than I imagined. The hammer seemed almost to be the kind blacksmiths used, except the head being slightly larger.

The axe was honestly not too different from the hammer. Had I been able to muster sufficient strength, they might be better options than swords or spears, but given how weak I seem to be, they are far too heavy to be practical. At least, that was the gist of what I heard from the conversation between Mr. Ischiros and Elder Teril.

After testing out the axe, in order to try ranged weapons and the like, we left the hall for the northern outskirts of the village.

Thank you, once again for reading. Please let me know your thoughts. Not being sure of how readers feel is seriously difficult. TvT

Sorry for being late with posting this yet again. I have decided that depending on how the future goes, I might change the uploads to every other week permanently. Right now, however, I'm rather free for a while and so might post more in the near future. Do look forward to it!

I hope you will continue to enjoy!!

So a few days back I had gotten Xinyan and Sayu. Usually I wish one at a time (mostly cos I don't wanna save up to 1600 primos :P). They came home back to back which was pretty nice :D

Either way since Sayu arrived I decided to finally play through the archon quests to get to Inazuma.

Well the main reason I'm saying this now is because of what happened just a while ago. I did a single pull on the banner as usual and saw my wish turn gold...

Hex yea she came home :D

Tiiiny status report since I don't wanna make multiple posts:
Show hidden content
-Until yesterday I was like AR 42 and my charas were at lvl 60 or less without even ascending. Even the lowered world level was such a pain lol. I explore way too much ig :|
- My first wish 5 * is actually not Yoimiya, but Keqing, who I got from the Acquainted banner recently.
- Completing all the hangout endings is such a pain since I had the best ends in Noelle, Bennet and Barbara for a while ;-; but I still did most of them. After hardhitting quests (emotionally), I just love to play through Noelle's. She best girl with best Shield :))
- With so many charas I wanna build and even my main team being at ~65, boy am I thankful for the doubled leylines.

Chapter 5: Ceremony And Celebration

Although the presence of The Fairy King of The Wind, Caelrigas was unexpected, the ceremony soon began without much more of a hitch.

Elder Teril and the priest began by taking up the gemstone. It appeared as though they began pouring mana into it, since it began shining with a green lustre. They then presented the gemstone to The Fairy King of The Wind Caelrigas, who poured his own mana into it. The shine when Caelrigas himself poured his mana in was much brighter than when the two poured theirs. As the light began to subside, the Priest received it from Caelrigas and placed it in the middle of the magic circle again.

“Place your hands at the end of the two lines.” The calm voice of the Emperor of The Wind snapped me back into reality. I walked closer to the circle and put my hands on the two protruding lines. “Now, feel the mana within you and bring it to your fingertips. Usually one of the parents acts as a medium but for you, that would be unnecessary, since you are already sufficiently grown.

True, while newborns would most probably not be able to, most people are capable of manipulating mana within their body. Magic is casted by bringing it out, which is impossible for most, including me. As I brought my mana to my fingertips, I felt a bit of it being drained by the circle. The lines glowed a faint purple and two circles of light started flowing from there to the center of the circle. The circles reached the center and entered the jewel. What was previously a pure green jewel now had an ellipse of purple patch. The priest took the crystal and placed it in a case.

“Look here, child.” The Fairy King spoke to me. I turned to him, who had risen from his seat. He then held his right hand out. I felt a small gust of wind from his hand. “I, the Emperor of The Wind Caelrigas, hereby give you my gift. You shall be known as Marciel among the elves. From this day forward you are one of them. And so it shall be.” His voice resounded throughout the halls. It was calm, yet powerful.

I bowed my head to the Emperor of The Wind. “You may raise your head.” He spoke. Lifting my head up, I thanked him, who smiled in return. He then turned to the Elder Teril and the priest, who bowed to him once more. He nodded, and then raised his right hand. Wind started flowing around him, increasing in strength. In a near-tornado form, the Emperor of The Wind left the hall.

“Congratulations, Marciel!”
“Welcome to the elves, kiddo.”
“It was indeed great for you to have received his gift.”
Words of congratulations flooded me from all the sides as Markus, Luciel, and the Elder Teril surrounded me, full of smiles.
“It would be advisable to let the child breathe, would it not be?” the priest chuckled.
Hearing him, Elder Teril collected himself and coughed. Markus and Luciel calmed themselves too.
“The gemstone would be ready to be embedded by tonight, and you will receive the bracelet tomorrow. Today and tonight will be a day of celebration, so do enjoy.” The priest smiled as he said so.
“Thank you! I will!” As I thanked him, Markus called me outside. Giving the priest and Elder Teril a small bow, I left the hall along with Luciel.

While leaving the hall, I saw many tables and chairs set in the village center. Each table held many different kinds of food, making my mouth water.
“This is in celebration, welcoming you, Marciel.” Markus chuckled lightly before patting me. “Hold on for a while until they’re done.” Smiling, he led me to a bench close by. Thanking him, I took a seat. Luciel sat down beside me while Markus left to help with the preparation.

Before long, Markus called me to the area with all the food prepared. I walked there, and when I reached there, the elfs of the village all greeted me one by one; including the priest, who introduced himself as Sacerd. Then, I was led to a seat, after which everyone sat down.

“Silva Gratias”, the priest spoke as he took the goblet from his table, poured in what appeared to be wine, and placed it on a stump. As I observed, I saw vines rising from the ground and climbing up, reaching the goblet and then going in. The wine within started disappearing, as though it was being drunk by the vine. Once the wine was finished, the vines moved out the goblet and returned to the ground. “Well then, let us begin.” Elder Teril raised his wooden cup and spoke. “Today, we have gathered to welcome Marciel to our village. He has completed the ceremony, as you all are aware. So, let us drink and eat, welcoming him!”

Before me there were many different kinds of foods. Starting from soup, a wide variety appeared to have been served. First, I had a bowl of soup. “It’s delicious!!” The soup was warm, and I felt as though it was melting me.

What followed were salads of many kinds. Each of them were extremely tasty in their own right. The one I enjoyed the most seemed to have wheat and lemon, among other things. The rather sour after-taste left my mouth watering for a while.

Next came a dish that appeared to be rice and mushrooms, with cheese on top. The taste was amazing as with everything else. I felt as though these dishes were stuff meant for nobility, with how they appeared.

Finally, for dessert, apple pie was served. The sweet pie filled me with delight as I could not resist it. This was most certainly food befitting royalty, I thought.

Throughout the banquet, the adults kept drinking wine, and so it came as a natural reminder when they all started either dancing or snoring. I, and the other elf children, were not allowed wine, and were instead given fruit juice. I think it was a mix of oranges and apples, but I’m not sure.

Either way, the banquet ended in chaos, despite it only being around 3 in the afternoon.

Thank you, once again for reading. Please let me know your thoughts. Not being sure of how readers feel is seriously difficult. TvT

Sorry for being late with posting this again. I'm considering rescheduling the post-date to Sunday. Since the following few months, or perhaps even an year, is going to be rather chaotic, I might not post weekly.

I hope you will continue to enjoy!!

Ramson's night sleep was usually non-existent. He simply did not sleep for very long. He had slept 5 hours that day, meaning he was already unusually energized and awake by the time Tilly came in. "Late." he had silently commented as Tilly teleported him away.

Ramson was rather having the time of his life in the fight.

That was truly because of one small loophole. He did not have to fight.

As opposed to the others, he had a personal cyberspace all for himself. Every now and then, he would leave, only to enter again. It was a good thing he had gotten himself a Nokia phone, since even hammers would simply be ineffective.

If there was the slightest of worries, it would be the lack of a camera, meaning he did not know what was going on outside. Did he feel bad about skipping the fight? A little. Did he wish to change his mind about it? Not unless he had something worthwhile in his stomach, in stead of quite literal garbage.

"While social circles do form naturally, these are more so meant to facilitate the formation of those. It is not uncommon to see members switch circles rather frequently during the first year, either, as far as I'm aware." Samton answered Kynik. "Usually it is centered around an activity, but in some cases there can be multiple of the same formed under different titles. I believe the activities can be selected by the students after which they'd meet with others who chose the same activity. Whether they stay or split is a different matter."

Taking a deep breath, Samton smiled once again. "And in regards to the prior concern, unfortunately, it appears classes are being canceled for the next couple of days indeed."

"Miss Feyrer, it is not very nice to refer to her as royalty. And about what we're here to discuss, it is nothing secret. It is only about circles. I am not sure if you are aware, but circles centered around co-curricular activities form in each batch. We are expected the same. Since there are some slight issues, the couple of days following will be without any lectures. It has been instructed that we consider the circles within this time."
Samton was smiling throughout. Whether it was but a poker face or if he was truly smiling, only he knew.
"More information, miss Feyrer, will be given once the class assembles in the afternoon." Tien added.

Chapter 4: If You Just Let It Be

Yesterday passed by very quickly, and today I’m holding my breath as I wait for Markus and Luciel to take me to the ceremonial hall.

The ceremonial hall is a big building that marks the center of the village. I have seen it many times but never entered it. Well, until today, that is. Hearing the two come in, I made sure my tunic is on properly once more and left for the ceremony.

As I entered the ceremonial hall, I felt strangely at peace. All my anxiety seemed to have disappeared, as if they were never there in the first place. With this newfound calmness, I took a look around. The extremely big hall was unfurnished except for three chairs at the front. The one in the middle looked much more majestic than the rest, as if it was a throne. Perhaps it is the seat reserved for the Fairy King of the Wind? Rumour has it that he visits the elven villages during their harvest festival. I hope I’ll get to see him one day.

In about the middle of the room is a huge magic circle drawn on paper, or I guess it’s white cloth?.It has been put on a platform. I think they want to avoid it getting dirty. On the side facing the entrance, two lines protrude out of the circle. Mana is poured into the circle through these lines, so they are apparently called the ‘input’s. The lines continue into the circle and form a maze-like structure. At the center of the maze, there’s a gemstone placed. I think that might be the one Elder Teril mentioned. As Markus and Luciel sat down on the floor, elder Teril beckoned me closer and had me sit with the circle in front of me. Then, Elder Teril sat on the right hand side of the throne, while an elf whom I did not recognize, quite possibly the priest, sat on the left hand side.

Then, a group of elves who had just arrived began to play music. The music was solemn and peaceful, and most importantly inviting. I felt drawn in by it. It lasted a few minutes, but it felt like it was only a few moments. As the music came to a close, Elder Teril and the Priest stood up, beckoning us to do the same.

When we all stood up, a sound resounded in the hall. Everyone was agitated, but Elder Teril’s face quickly turned into a very warm smile. The priest, seeing his reaction, had an astonished face before he too smiled.

The sound which resounded was the same as the music played by the elves before. However, now it felt as if the music came from all around. It felt as though the musicians had surrounded the hall and were playing it. The music now felt magical, but... where was it coming from?

When I was looking around in surprise, I suddenly heard a chant. This too, came from nowhere and was not said by any of the elves.

𝕸𝖆𝖌𝖓𝖆 𝕭𝖊𝖘𝖙𝖎𝖆𝖘 𝕮𝖊𝖉𝖆𝖓𝖙.
𝕱𝖔𝖗𝖙𝖎 𝕷𝖎𝖌𝖓𝖆 𝕮𝖊𝖉𝖆𝖓𝖙.
𝕰𝖈𝖈𝖊 𝕬𝖉𝖛𝖊𝖓𝖎𝖙 𝕮𝖆𝖊𝖑𝖗𝖎𝖌𝖆𝖘.

The chant was heard over and over. I started looking around in a panic, when the hall became very windy. A huge gust of wind formed on the other side of the magic circle. As the winds dissipated, the music mellowed out as well.

Standing where the wind once blew was a young man. He wore a white tunic and a toga on top. Moreover, he also had a red cloak. He had dark hair and wore a smile on his face.

Seeing him, both the Elder Teril and the priest knelt. Following them, I quickly did so too.

“Lift your heads.” The smiling man spoke calmly. I felt that his mellow voice had put me at ease.
The priest and Elder Teril rose up from their knees, standing by. Were they just asked to stand up?
“You may lift your head, Marciel.” The man spoke once more, now in the human language. I slowly stood back up.

“Do not worry. I am not here to cause you harm, nor is there any emergency. I see you have taken him in just as I had requested. For that, I must thank you.”

“Please do not worry about that, Your Highness. We are happy to follow your instructions.” Elder Teril said with a light bow.

“In that case, shall we begin the ceremony?” The man asked. Suddenly, as though he had just remembered something, he turned to me. “I do not think you have seen me before. I am Caelrigas, the one known as the Emperor of the Wind.”
“I am honoured by your presence, Your Highness.” I bowed and did my very best to reply. Caelrigas nods.

“Yes Your Majesty, we may begin. If you would please.” The priest motioned to the throne. Caelrigas nods as he takes a seat, then prompts the two to do so.

And so, the ceremony began.

Please tell me what you think... (PP or PM is fine)
All sorts of advices, opinions and criticisms would be appreciated. Thank you for reading! ^^

"I'm glad you do not mind. Miss Mira, might I suggest you meet Prof Angler? His room is attached to the Mages' dorm, and it would be best to inform someone." Samton gave a light nod. "My name is Samton Goldenbach. I'm pleased to make your acquaintance. I also happen to be a mage." Saying this, Samton held out his hand in greeting.

"I am Tien Sebas. I happen to be a knight. A pleasure." Tien nodded in greeting at the newly introduced student.

I'm not really building any character right now but I built my Noelle high DEF anyway.

It's a very nice feeling when I fight boss monsters, they start their attack and I just use her skill and chill for 12-ish secs, by the time most attack phases will be over.

Honestly the moment I am unable to use Noelle is the moment I start farming Leylines and overpowering my charas but rn I'm under leveled for most boss fights (60s vs 62-ish so not all that bad) and I still win cuz- how am I gonna lose when they can't properly hit me?
