a while back, some friends were asking about everstones verses gems being held by the breeding pair. i see the friend who brought up the question asked it here, but there was no following discussion. from what i could see in her feeds, she decided to stick with the gems as did some of her friends. yet the guide and some others insist everstones are better. i've tried both, and feel like i got more eggs in general with the gems, yet my shiny chain has never been this high without getting a shiny. since i have only shiny hunted a few pokemon, i can't be sure its related to the held items and not the pokemon itself.

does anyone have any insight on this? do gems effect breeding at all? if they do, do they play a role in shiny pokemon?
