With one last parting smile, Misako curtsied, and returned the cloak. With a clearer mind, she re-entered the crowd, weaving her way gracefully through the masses.

She found herself beside Ldeya, who seemed to also have drunk of the wine Otto had so graciously offered.

“Care for some more?” She offers, procuring the full bottle which she had taken prior.

“It tastes lovely, I’m sure. I personally quite enjoyed it.”

With the fog having cleared from her mind, Misako wrapped the fur around her tighter, eyes returning to dull grey.

"Would Milady require anything else? The lethargy should soon fade, but consider this one at your disposal as you recover."

Looking up at the Iciolan, she offers a brief, but grateful smile “There is no need. I can rejuvenate myself quite easily”

Misako shuts her eyes, focusing on the knot of emotions within, drawing some out, before her face regains its lively expression once more. Being an Empath had many perks. Especially when she could draw on the mirth of the crowd, like an endless supply of energy.

“You must be the Lily of the Valley. The servant of the great Romanian vampire, yes? Thank you.”

Misako didn’t want to taste blood. She wanted to draw it. To let the ruby hues dance across her fingertips, slash against the white walls like a painter and her canvas. She wanted to dig her fingers in the pool of gore and terror.

But rational Misako also really wasn’t in the mood for murder. And so, the only option remained clear.

With whatever control she had left, she reached out for the unnatural, grotesque, yellow eyes beast. She didn’t know much, but she did understand that it would help dissipate her bloodlust.

Admist the raging storm in her mind, Misako could faintly discern the words spoken by another.

”Forgive the insolence, but this one humbly requests if Milady requires any assistance.”

The voice was sweet and well spoken, with an air of politeness around it. Misako assumed it would be some sort of servant.

She forced herself to look up, and spotted Iciolan looking back at her. Looking at his plain mask, then to the abundance of lily of the valley flowers, Misako made the connection through the hazy fog in her mind that this was the famous servant of the even more famous Romanian vampire.

Oh, how badly she desired to sink her nails into smooth flesh, to paint that ivory in a beautiful etching of her nightmarish symphonies.

With a mind only somewhat her own, she locked eyes with the Iciolan and flashed him a disconcerting smile, from under the cracked porcelain of her bunny mask.

Wherever Misako was, was not quite in the room she was physically in.

“Some assistance would be nice indeed.”

Her words were strained, and spoken from faraway

Misako’s mind was fogging up. Her vision was getting blurry, and the only thing she could see or hear was the building feeling within her, screaming at her to let it out. She clenched her fists right, dull grey eyes sparking with momentary color, as the urge to cause another harm grew greater.

Suppresion wasn’t a good tactic- if any of the previous incidents had been any indication. It had only led to the painting of vermillion on snow. Especially not for Misako…who had on countless occasions woken up to find her entire palace of visitors lying still at the bottom of the cliffside. Presumably driven to their own mad delusions inflicted by Misako’s abilities.

Her head pounded, like a caged animal desperate to get free, slamming against the walls of her cranium. Misako stumbled into a private room, away from the bustle of the party.

It simply wouldn’t do to massacre the entire lot of them. Not when she was so unstable.

“Don’t mind if I do, then”

Misako’s hand reached out, clasping around a full and unopened bottle. With a quick bow to Otto and a polite smile, she weaves her way back into the crowd

Four times it rang, loud and clear, cerise droplets like rain from above. Pretty white fur stained sanguine, flames burst forth from the dragon’s belly

A hand reached out to accept the glass, Misako swirled the red liquid, watching it shimmer and writhe in its cage like a lively dance. Her hand was as cold as her gaze, and they briefly brushed against Otto’s hands before closing firmly around the wine glass.

Taking a sip, she let out a pleased hum- or was it thoughtful contemplation? Hard to tell, given that Misako’s gaze remained blank and enigmatic.

“You should drink some, yourself.” Misako remarked, staring pointedly, now, at Otto.

“Pour me a glass, will you?”

Misako steps forward, her heels clacking sharply against the hardwood floor. Unfeeling and empty grey eyes stared at Otto from behind the mask of a bunny, yet the voice that spoke was warm and gentle.

Leaning against a nearby pillar, she gazes around at the crowd that had gathered

“It is rare I find hospitable and well mannered nobility. Ever rarer that they offer up the finest of drinks— as you have so kindly done”

Misako offers Otto a small smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes, and she dug through her pockets to pull out a small pocketknife, which she presents to Otto as a gift.

“A token of appreciation. I can tell this is fine wine.”

Angel Institute: A Sanctuary of Shadows

In the heart of a forgotten city, shrouded in perpetual twilight, stands the Angel Institute—a crumbling edifice that looms like a specter over the desolate streets. Its once-grand façade, now marred by decay, whispers of a past filled with hope that has long since faded into darkness. Here, the air is thick with secrets, and the echoes of lost souls resonate through the empty halls. The fence is tall and foreboding, the gate padlocked by thick iron chains. This home has few windows- all of which barred.

Within these walls, the youth who have been cast aside by society find refuge. They are the forgotten ones—children without connections, without families to search for them when they vanish into the night. Each child is a ‘lost cause’, taken, and forgotten. The Institute is their sanctuary, a place where they are sheltered from the world. Rules must be strictly adhered to- not a toe out of line. Eyes are watching, there is nowhere you can hide.

As night falls, the atmosphere shifts. The flickering lights cast eerie shadows that dance along the walls, creating an unsettling ambiance. Whispers drift through the corridors, tales of those who came before—lost boys and girls who wandered too far. The staff, clad in somber uniforms, move like phantoms, their faces obscured by an air of mystery. They are guardians and wardens alike, tasked with caring for these fragile souls. For all children are fragile, they must be protected. Don’t wander too far, lest your breath be cut short.## The Ritual of Connection

Each evening, a ritual unfolds in the dimly lit common room. The children gather around a flickering fire, its warmth contrasting with the chill that seeps into their bones. They share stories—some filled with laughter, others heavy with sorrow—each word a thread weaving them closer together in their shared isolation. In this moment, they are not alone; they are a family forged in adversity, bound by their collective pain.

When a naughty child is detected, they are taken away. No one remembers them, for they are taught to condemn such unruly behavior. And when they return, these children are obedient. Pliant and well-mannered, an empty look in their eyes

Yet, beneath this fragile camaraderie lies an underlying tension. The Institute is not merely a refuge; it is a labyrinthine maze where shadows lurk just beyond sight. There are whispers of those who have tried to escape—only to be drawn back into the fold by unseen forces. The walls seem to breathe with life, watching and waiting as if they hold secrets that should never be uncovered.

As dawn approaches and light seeps through the grimy windows, uncertainty hangs in the air like a thick fog. You will not find solace here. At Angel Institute, hope flickers like a candle in the wind.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden hue over the castle, a pure white chariot glided gracefully through the grand entrance, its polished surface gleaming like a jewel against the twilight sky. Pulled by two majestic gray horses, their coats shimmering with silvery undertones, the chariot exuded an air of regal elegance.

It came to a stop, right at the castle gates, and a servant- thickly wrapped in layers, quickly jumped off to open the door, while trying to remove his coats. This place was far warmer than where they had come from. Within, First Lady Misako emerged, a vision of opulence clad in a flowing white gown that cascaded around her like a cloud of silk. The intricate lace detailing and delicate embellishments sparkled softly in the fading light, accentuating her graceful figure. The gown features a plunging neckline that gracefully revealed one’s shoulders, complemented by short, bow-trimmed sleeves. The skirt flowed into a bustle silhouette, enhancing her presence. Intricate embroidery in silver thread adorns the bodice and hem, depicting delicate motifs of chrysanthemums and bamboo,

The mask Misako had chosen today was a stunning piece that perfectly complemented her opulent ensemble. Crafted in the shape of a white rabbit, it was made from fine porcelain, giving it a smooth, glossy finish that caught the light beautifully. The mask’s delicate, elongated ears arch gracefully, adorned with intricate gold filigree designs that swirled like vines across the surface. These golden accents glimmer subtly, adding a touch of luxury and whimsy to her look.

The eye holes were elegantly shaped, framed by delicate lashes painted in gold, enhancing the allure of her gaze while maintaining an air of mystery. The mask's contours were soft yet defined, emphasizing the graceful lines of her face. A satin ribbon, also white with golden edges, ties the mask securely behind her head, allowing her to move freely while keeping the enchanting piece in place.

As she stepped down from the chariot, the soft sound of her heels echoed against the cobblestones, and an intoxicating aura of luxury enveloped her, captivating all who beheld this enchanting arrival at the masquerade.

Thanking her servants, she slowly made her way into the Masquerade. Clad in white from head to toe, hidden behind the porcelain mask of a bunny, Misako was the picture of innocence- a fragile little prey amidst a sea of darkness.

Huixin is silent for a few moments, soaking in the hug. Then her lips tug upwards in a smile, and she hugs Ophelia back.

“Thank you, Ophie.”

As long as Ophelia was by her side, she could overcome her nightmares. The two of them would get through this together.

Rummaging in her bag, she offers a piece of puff pastry to Ophelia, as they bide out their time together, sitting on the roof and waiting for the timer to run out.
