"Jason. You know how much we have spent on you. From your training...to education...to all your needs. It is time that you repaid us son, and I believe you are very ready for it. Now, go forth, and volunteer, like your grandfather once did. And I know you will succeed. You will return." And so he sat through the reaping of the female tribute, thinking about these words. And so he continued till the male tribute's name was called out- not his. It was an 18 year old from his school. "Mark Luthor". He did not know him, and he did not have to volunteer. But did he not? Did he actually have a choice? As he glanced over to where his dad sat waiting, he was looking right at Jason. Glaring at him. The expression was clear...if he did not volunteer...no, he had to volunteer. And so, without another thought, he got up from his seat, and jogged down towards the stage, before anyone else could take the place. "I volunteer!" He shouted, through masked emotions. Anyone who saw him now would feel he was just another career, eager to participate. Even his friends back at school, knew he had been training for it. Little many people knew that he did not actually want to volunteer. He marched up the stairs of the stage, muttering "I volunteer" again."Very well!" The woman from the Capitol replied. "Jason...Hill! It is then. The male tribute from District 1." He was scared, he was angry, and he was just a lil bit confused, as everyone cheered for him. His friends, to his father. His mother however, was silent. Looking at him with pursed lips. But he had mastered to mask his emotions well enough not to show a concern in the world. As he was given the chance to meet his loved ones over back at the tower, he greeted everyone through a mask, acting as if he had been planning it all along, volunteering for sport. The meeting with his dad and Emily was short and abrupt, with him saying, "I'm proud of you. May the odds ever be in your favour." and Emily, not knowing how serious it was, the Hunger Games, joked about how he was finally going to the arena after making a fuss about it for 5 years! A group of friends came to meet him, and they cheered him on and told him he could do it. But they were all obviously jealous, and some even scared. Scared for him? Couldn't be- or were they scared about losing a friend? However things turned out, he wouldn't be the same as he had been. He would either be changed, or scarred. Scarred for life with the blood of 23 in his hands. Of course, he wasn't planning on killing all of them, but knowing how it was to be a chain reaction anyways, you could very well say the victor killed em all. The only person, that saw through his mask, was his mother. She came in hurrying through the doors, being very late to meet him. They almost had the doors shut, but his family's reputation let her pass. "Oh Jason, my dear Jason...take care of yourself, okay? Don't die. You have to come back for me- you have to." Tears welled in her eyes. Jason was surprised, knowing how strong his mum was. Did she actually not believe him, despite all the encouraging words all those years? "I will mumma, I will come back. It's just a matter of 4 months- don't cry too much!" He attempted a shake smile at his joke, but finally gave in, and leaned on her, as she sat by him, crying into her shoulders. Right then, was when the peacekeepers came in, stating it was very late, and he had to be taken to the train now. Through shaky breath, his mother gave him the last piece of advice he would hear for a while..."Remember, do not kill any more than you have to." It seemed strange to him, how the Hunger Games revolved around killing others, but it also made sense. She probably meant for him to stay out of bloodbaths. To let the game progress naturally until he needs to kill someone, either out of self defence, or...to win. Finally, before the peacekeepers split them apart, her mother popped something into his mouth. It was a chocolate. A small chocolate, with a berry at its core. He loved this handmade treat, and he had not had one of these in years, with his mum stopping to cook. He used to get one of these everytime he did a good deed... whether it was to do a chore, or to help someone out. Now, going out to the Hunger Games felt nothing more than an elaborate chore to him, set up by his father. And so, with the taste of berries and chocolate mixing in his mouth, he finally let them take him away, off to the train. [Read more] |

"Morning, Jacy!" His mother greeted him. "I suppose you know what day it is today? And why are you still in your night dress?" "I was hungry mumma" Jason mumbled, still sleepy, making his way to the table, where his breakfast awaited him. "Very well, but you know you have to be at your best today, don't you?" "Yes mum, I know!" he grumbled. He hated reaping day. He was made to wear a blazer and all formals, while they had to sit waiting under the sun at the city square. And some cranky person from the Capitol would call out two names of people who were about to die. Slowly. Painfully. With 24 tributes and only 1 winning, not a lot of the people going out to the Capitol returned. Much like Emily, Jason used to think it to just be fiction, a few years ago, too, despite being trained all those years by his tutors for it. He used to think it was just all propaganda. Until his friend was chosen. His best friend at school, Max. Jason was very confused when Max did not come back home after the "show" was all over. And he cried a lot when he got to know why. He matured a lot since then, learning anything about the Hunger Games that he could, though most people, including his parents, just glorified it. His grandfather had supposedly been a victor when he had been alive. He was a nice man, which was probably what made Jason believe the Hunger Games couldn't possibly be true. How could his dada have killed anyone? But indeed, if he had to survive in the arena, he would've had to kill. As he was finishing up the first meal of his day, his father joined him at the table, grumpy as ever. "Jason, why are you not dressed for the reaping?" "That's exactly what mum asked, I will be ready by when I have to." Jason did not like his father. He pressed him too much. He did not turn 6 when he was handed his first blade, a sword to him then, but nothing but a pocket knife now. To avoid further conversation, he left his breakfast unfinished and went back into his room, looking into the assortment of his formal clothes on what to wear. When he did not come out for about half an hour, his mother came to check on him, just to find out that he was still deciding which wristwatch to wear. She comes in and plops down onto the bed. "If you sit in here forever, you'll miss the reaping!" "That would be for the best, I guess." Jason mumbled, but did hurry up, finally choosing the stark white watch he owned, to complement his white tux. As he was done dressing up, his mother complimented, "Oh what a gentleman you are. It sure would be a shame, if you did not come back from the arena." And though Jason thought that was to suggest that she had high expectations from it, her voice had just a tinge of sadness. While she would love to see him participate and win in the Hunger Games, she knew he was too much of a flower to actually win it, if he was, in fact, chosen. So he grumbled again, "Yes mumma, I know", as he looked at himself in the mirror. Just then, Emily walks into his room again, saying, "Oh you are yet to be ready? What a loser. Dad wants you to come down right now!" To that, their mum gave her a sharp glare, which made her cower back out of the room. "Come now, we should not let your dad keep waiting." His mum said to him, with an abrupt, sad smile. [Read more] |

"But you at least gotta try!" "And what does trying mean??" "Well, trying means to try!" "Pfft" And so the brewery began. What would he tell her when he saw her? Should he get her something? There was a ton of stuff available at Honeydukes, especially for the occasion. Or he could go with a simple muggle-fashioned rose or a non-magically chocolate heart? And worst of all, where would he take her if she did say yes?? So with a bit of a plan in mind, which he knew he would forget the moment he saw Aurora, he marched into the common room, hoping to find Aurora there. [Read more] |

"Dunno about that, but you seem pretty obsessed with Aurora~" Mehul teases him back. "Pffft" Suvansh makes some grumpy noises. "And you are obsessed with how I'm obsessed with her! Which uh of course I'm not!" [Read more] |

"Collector's item, I suppose. Hey look, that book would be great for you!" Suvansh says, pointing at a copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard. "Mm? What's it about?" "Ah, I forget at times, how you're a muggleborn~" Suvansh replies, as he smirks. "Buy it!" "I do not like that smile, no." "Oh please, everyone in the wizarding world has read it at least once. You should too!" And Mehul checks it out, only to find it was a book for kids! Suvansh laughed out, and repeated, "Buy it!! It's a book that's at your level!" Mehul pouted and walked away from him, only to run into Emerson. "Eek- sorry!" [Read more] |

While he did not really hero worship the elder wizards or anything, it was a pretty big deal still for him, to meet them all in person, together. As much as he wanted to go about talking to them about all the stories he read of the Battle of Hogwarts, they had something better to do. So he gives Harry a curt nod, puts an arm around Jules, and says, "Are you going to explain, Jules Spellmaker Hadrian? Or use me as a meat shield for all the attention!?" [Read more] |

When Cass suggests he needs rest too, it of course was true, but he wouldn't have it. "Oh no no, I'm quite alright. I can't ask you to trouble yourself, Cass, we have the most important exams in our lives coming up..." He said, with a rueful smile. He couldn't help but feel guilty about getting Jules into helping him find the students...and another person helping them would just make it easier on them both...but he just couldn't ask her to. "But Jules, yeah, you aren't writing a word until you have a nap. And the Astronomy class? Forget it. You aren't sitting for the exam anyway! Now, if you will excuse us, I'll make sure Jules gets some good rest...Have a good day!" He addresses the last part to Cass, and motions Jules towards their dorm room. [Read more] |

"Jules, would you mind saying you did nothing to the mirror? Just look at yourself jeez! First of all, eat something. And you really could use some sleep too, i.m.o. Here, grab this." He says, handing him the bar of chikki he had unwrapped for Cass. "We can look more into the spell and all the rumours around later, get some rest for now! And yes, however impressive the feat is, I'm afraid it could put her in some serious trouble, the first-year I mean. Especially if she indeed is the one referred to in the prophecy!" He says, at last, matching Jules' thoughts. "God is this stressful, but yeah, good job again on the charm!" He half-mutters, giving Jules a shaky smile. [Read more] |
