Report DD won the toss & chose to bat DD named unchanged SRH made 1 change-Dale Steyn in-Trent Boult out DD-167-4(20)/srh-163-8(20) MoM-JP Duminy In a thrilling match at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam, the Delhi Daredevils edged hosts Sunrisers Hyderabad by four runs to register their second win in Pepsi IPL 2015. Coming into the match at the back of a morale-boosting win over Kings XI Punjab that ended their 11-match losing streak, DD scored a commanding 167 runs on the board and then restricted the home side to 163-8. Skipper JP Duminy was the star performer for DD, first scoring a half-century and then derailing the SRH innings by picking up four wickets. After opting to bat first, the Delhi Daredevils lost opener Mayank Agarwal for 1, but were put back on track through a 78-run second-wicket partnership between Shreyas Iyer and skipper JP Duminy. 20-year old Iyer brought the attacking side of his game to the park, hitting three fours and five sixes, and in the process scoring his first half-century in T20 cricket. The Mumbai-lad comfortably outscored his skipper in the partnership, contributing 47 runs as against Duminy’s 26 runs. He was particularly severe on the leg-spinner Karn Sharma, hitting him for three sixes and scoring 21 runs off eight deliveries. The opening batsman was dismissed in the twelfth over when he was deceived by a slower delivery from Praveen Kumar and miscued an attempted slog to be caught at cover; Iyer made 60 from 40 balls and left the park with the score reading 93 for 2. Duminy, who was initially scoring at a run-a-ball, switched gears after Iyer was dismissed; he hit Ravi Bopara for a boundary in the 13th over and then punished the medium-pacer further in his next over, hitting two fours and a six. In the 16th over, Duminy hit Dale Steyn for a six over long on, but the fast bowler had the last laugh, disturbing the woodwork behind the batsman. Duminy made 54 from 41 balls, aided with five boundaries and two sixes. DD suffered a big blow immediately after as Yuvraj Singh’s innings was curtailed by a fantastic catch by David Warner; the left-hander’s pull appeared to have enough height and distance, but Warner, fielding at midwicket, timed his jump well, caught the ball and landed just inside the rope. Angelo Mathews (19 from 12 balls) and Kedar Jadhav (15 from 11) found the boundary thrice in the last two overs to help DD finish their twenty overs at 167 for 4. For SRH, Steyn and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were the pick of the bowlers; their eight overs together cost the team 48 runs and yielded two wickets. Praveen Kumar and Ashish Reddy were the other wicket-takers. Cut to the run-chase, DD kept their nerves despite their opponents getting off to a solid start. Warner and Shikhar Dhawan helped their team to 20 in the first four overs before the latter exploded in the fifth over, hitting Angelo Mathews for three boundaries. Warner picked on Domnic Joseph and hit him for four boundaries in the following over. The partnership was broken just after the Powerplay overs when Duminy got the ball to straighten and sneak in between the bad and pad to castle Dhawan. Two balls later, Warner was beaten in flight and drove straight back, and Duminy lunged forward and came up with the ball in hand. From 50 for no loss, SRH had quickly slipped to 51 for two. KL Rahul struck two humongous sixes off Yuvraj Singh and Amit Mishra, and added 38 runs in the company of Ravi Bopara, before he lost his leg stump to Angelo Mathews. He made 24 from 21 balls and left the arena with his team needing 79 runs from 46 balls. Ravi Bopara hit a couple of lusty blows before he holed out to Manoj Tiwary. Karn Sharma took the chase closer, hitting two sixes off Imran Tahir, and Ashish Reddy hit a four and a six in the 19th over to leave SRH needing 10 from the final over. Nathan Coulter-Nile bowled a fantastic final over, conceding only five runs, and Mayank Agarwal pulled off a fantastic save off the penultimate delivery to leave SRH four runs short. Duminy and Coulter-Nile were the pick of the DD bowlers, accounting for five wickets and conceding only 43 runs in seven overs. So another nail biter from DD. That's it from this game [Read more] |

Match 13 of Pepsi IPL will see Sunrisers Hyderabad pitted against the Delhi Daredevils. SRH so far have one win from three outings; in their most-recent outing, they lost to the Rajasthan Royals at home. On that occasion, SRH’s batsmen found it difficult to conquer the conditions they encountered and struggled to build any kind of momentum. One expects that the team would have discussed the need to be show more intent and be more aggressive. It is beyond doubt that David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan are the two most influential batsmen in the SRH ranks. Both batsmen are explosive and can win matches single-handedly. Dhawan has shown the intent to apply himself and bat through the majority of the innings; he did that against RCB recently, and if he can do that again, SRH will certainly be in a position of strength. In their previous outing, the Delhi Daredevils pulled the brakes on their 11-match losing streak; they restricted a powerful Kings XI Punjab lineup to 165 and then riding on the back of half-centuries by Mayank Agarwal and Yuvraj Singh, knocked off the runs. That certainly would have certainly brought the smiles back in the dressing room, and with the monkey off the back, the team will be keen to make winning a habit and start piling on the points. The two left-handers in the Delhi Daredevils lineup will be at the centre of the team’s batting plans. Skipper JP Duminy has done the right thing by promoting himself to number three; this not only gives him the chance to get his eye in, but also gives him the opportunity to bat through the majority of the innings. Yuvraj Singh showed against Kings XI Punjab that he has a lot to offer and can win matches for his team. He comes into this contest at the back of a half-century and will be keen to carry that form forward. Coaches advocate that taking wickets is the best way to keep a check on the scoring rate, and DD have two wicket-takers in their lineup in Imran Tahir and Amit Mishra. I'm sticking with DD for this one. & sticking KXIP for the next one but KKR have the edge for me [Read more] |

MI won the toss & chose to bat MI-183-7(20)/CSK-189-4(16.4) MoM-Ashish Nehra Riding on the back of a breathtaking partnership between Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum, the Chennai Super Kings effortlessly chased down a stiff target of 184 to hand the Mumbai Indians their fourth consecutive defeat in Pepsi IPL 2015. Faced with an asking rate of 9.20, the two CSK openers came out all guns blazing, helped their team to 90 in the first six overs, in the process bringing the required run rate down to just over a run-a-ball and deflating the morale in the MI camp. There was going to be only one winner after that; CSK cantered to a six-wicket victory with 20 balls to spare. It was a rather timid start to the run chase, with just six being added to the scoreboard in the first over. But there was carnage for the next few overs; dot balls and singles were far and few, and the white cricket ball was at the receiving end of some powerful blows. There was a boundary scored in each of the first ten overs. CSK raced to 50 in four overs and needed only 2.5 overs to add the next 50 runs. Dwayne Smith brought up his half-century off 22 balls, aided with seven boundaries and three sixes, while McCullum hit a few meaty blows and improvised on a couple of occasions to race to 46 off 20 balls. Both batsmen were dismissed by Harbhajan Singh in the eighth over, but not before they had added 109 runs on the board. Faf du Plessis was cleaned up by a Lasith Malinga yorker and MS Dhoni hit one straight back to Pollard, but Suresh Raina (43 from 29 balls), in the company of Dwayne Bravo, completed the honours and took the team past the finish line in the seventeenth over. For MI – who employed some strange tactics on the day, Harbhajan Singh picked up the wickets of the two openers, but conceded 44 runs in his four overs. Malinga and Pollard were the other wicket-takers for the home side. Earlier in the evening, MI won the toss, opted to bat first and finished their twenty overs at 183 for 7. The hosts got off to a poor start yet again, losing three wickets in the first four overs. Ashish Nehra accounted for the dismissals of Parthiv Patel and Corey Anderson, while Ishwar Pandey dismissed Lendl Simmons (who filled in for the injured Aaron Finch). Rohit Sharma, batting at four, asserted once again he is the best batsman in the MI ranks. At a time when the Chennai Super Kings bowlers were calling the shots, Rohit effortlessly made his way to 50 off just 31 balls. He respected the deliveries which deserved respect, played some delightful and effortless strokes, punished the loose ones and forced his way to his 23rd IPL half-century. The 27-year old was dismissed in the 15th over, when he attempted to hit Ashish Nehra over the top, but didn’t get enough power and was caught short of the ropes at long on. While there was application at one end – from skipper Rohit Sharma, there were fireworks at the other from Kieron Pollard. The Trinidadian didn’t waste time to get a look-in; the first ball he faced he hit straight back over the bowler’s head and deposited it into the stands. R Ashwin and Dwayne Bravo conceded a four and a six respectively, before Jadeja was singled out for more punishment. The 14th over bowled by the left-arm spinner cost CSK 25 runs; aside from the two wides and a single, Pollard picked up three sixes and a boundary. He raced to his half-century off 21 balls, and forced his way to 64 before perishing off the penultimate delivery of the innings. Mumbai Indians finished their twenty overs at 183-7 – which looked farfetched at the half-way stage when they were 62 for 4. There were three important partnerships in the innings; Harbhajan Singh (24), who was promoted to number five, added 45 runs with Rohit, who then added 75 runs in 5.3 overs with Pollard. The finishing touches to the innings were provided through a 49-run partnership between Pollard and Ambati Rayudu (29 from 16 balls). For Chennai Super Kings, Ashish Nehra bowled a brilliant opening spell, finishing his four overs with returns of 3 for 23. His new-ball partner Ishwar Pandey was impressive too, returning with figures of 3-1-22-1. The rest of the bowling attack came in for plenty of stick, conceding 135 runs in 13 overs. Surprisingly, R Ashwin bowled just the solitary over on the day, in which he conceded 13 runs. That's all for today. Join us tomorrow when DD take on SRH & KKR take on KXIP [Read more] |

RR-their pacers leaking runs SRH-their spin department is too light here's the report RR won the toss & chose to field SRH made 1 change-Eoin Morgan in, Kane Williamson out RR named an unchanged squad SRH-127-5(20)/RR-131-4(20) MoM-Ajinkya Rahane The Rajasthan Royals stretched their lead at the top of the Pepsi IPL 2015 standings after they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by six wickets at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam. Riding on the back of a disciplined bowling effort by their bowlers, RR restricted SRH for 127-5 – the lowest total of the season, and then knocked off the required runs off the final ball of the chase. Needing to chase at just over a run-a-ball, RR’s opening pair of Ajinkya Rahane and Sanju Samson gave the team a sound start. The pair didn’t take too many chances, but pounced on any freebies that came their way, making sure they put them away to the boundaries. The partnership was culled in the eleventh over – after they had added 64 runs - when young Samson attempted to run a Ravi Bopara delivery down to thirdman, but was brilliantly caught by a full-stretched Naman Ojha diving to his right. RR skipper Steve Smith had a rare poor day with the bat, driving a wide half-volley from Karn Sharma to his opposite number stationed at cover. Karun Nair chipped one back to Bopara as RR slipped from 64 for no loss to 91 for 3. Rahane made 62 from 55 balls and almost carried his team over the line – in the process bagging the Orange Cap for becoming the leading run-getter, before perishing in the penultimate over. RR needed 10 from the last eight balls, which came down one off the last ball, before James Faulkner managed to pierce the gap between cover and point, to lead his team to a thrilling – yet comprehensive – win. Bopara was the most successful bowler for the hosts, returning with figures of 2 for 18 from his four overs, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar was impressive in his four overs, conceding only 25 runs. Earlier in the evening, the Rajasthan Royals skipper called correctly at the toss and decided to give his bowlers first use of the pitch. Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner got off to starts, but were dismissed for 10 & 21 respectively. While Dhawan chased a wide delivery and edged to the wicket-keeper, Warner set off for a run late and was caught short of his ground by a direct hit from Ajinkya Rahane. KL Rahul was dismissed immediately after his captain was dismissed as SRH crawled to 35 for 3 when the field restrictions were relaxed. Naman Ojha and Eoin Morgan, who replaced Kane Williamson in the SRH XI, resurrected the innings briefly with a 52-run partnership. Both batsmen struggled to find any kind of momentum, but fought it out, before being dismissed by leg-spinner Pravin Tambe. Ojha made 25 from 32 balls, while Morgan hit two fours and a six in his 30-ball 27. Ravi Bopara, batting at number six, and Ashish Reddy, batting at seven, gave the innings much needed impetus at the back end. Bopara scored 23 from 19 balls, while Reddy made 13 off 9 balls. There were 62 dot balls in the SRH innings, who finished their allotted 20 overs at 127 for 5. The Rajasthan Royals bowlers were a disciplined unit. Dhawal Kulkarni was the pick of the lot, finishing with figures of 3-1-9-2, while Tambe bowled out his four overs for returns of 2 for 21. The three overseas pace bowlers – Tim Southee, Chris Morris and James Faulkner – came in for some stick, together conceding 73 runs in their 9 overs. there it is, another thrilling finish. This is the best possible start the Pepsi IPL 2015 can ever have. Tomorrow we have the big clash, MI VS CSK. Until then, bye [Read more] |

But RR need to bowl well to Warner, the key for SRH:Not to put Ishant in the squad. Ishant can overstep occasionally & that can cost SRH a lot of runs. So no Ishant. Put Boult, B Kumar & Praveen Kumar, Karn Sharma. [Read more] |

KXIP won the toss & chose to bat DD made 1 change-=Domnic Joseph comes in, Jaidev Unadkat goes out. KXIP named unchanged KXIP 165-7(20)/DD-169/5(19.5) MoM-Mayank Agarwal 353 days – that is how many days it took Delhi Daredevils to put the brakes on their losing streak. They tasted success on Wednesday - for the first time since 27 April 2014 – when they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 5 wickets at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam. Set to chase 166, Delhi Daredevils were slow off the blocks, but accelerated through Mayank Agarwal and Yuvraj Singh, who added 106 from 66 balls. Though DD lost opener Shreyas Iyer to a short-pitched delivery from Sandeep Sharma and skipper JP Duminy was run out in unfortunate circumstances - backing up too far, they had a platform which set up the chase. Agarwal, who had picked up three boundaries in the first two overs, reined himself and appeared to be batting with the intention of batting through to the end. He kept ticking the scoreboard over, while Yuvraj raced off the blocks hitting four boundaries in his first 21 runs. KXIP skipper Bailey bowled out Sandeep and Johnson by the 15th over in search of wickets. Once Agarwal and Yuvraj had survived past the 15 overs, there was going to be only one winner. The former became the first batsman to post 50 in the match with an audacious hook shot off Johnson. Yuvraj turned on the heat in the 16th over when he deposited the left-arm spinner Axar Patel into the stands twice – once over long on and then over the square-leg fence. He then whipped a full length delivery from Anureet Singh into the stands to bring up his half-century; the 33-year old left-hander consumed 39 balls for his 55, and his association with Agarwal yielded the team 106 runs. Both the half-centurions perished in the 19th over - off consecutive deliveries - with their team needing seven more runs to win. Angelo Mathews struck the winning hit off Axar Patel to see his team past the finish line - with a solitary ball to spare. For DD, Sandeep Sharma was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with figures of 1-30 in his four overs. Johnson was sharp, and clocked a fastest speed of 151.1kph on the speed gun – but unfortunately for KXIP, the Australian went wicket-less and conceded 43 runs in his four overs. Anureet Singh was the most successful bowler for KXIP, returning figures of 2 for 33. Earlier in the evening, KXIP skipper George Bailey won the toss and decided his team would bat first. Murali Vijay and Virender Sehwag saw the team off to a sound start, adding 33 runs in 29 balls, before the former was dismissed by Angelo Mathews. Sehwag – who did not bat in his usual flamboyant ‘see ball, hit ball’ style but was rather conservative for major part of his innings - carried on, and in the company of Wriddhiman Saha (who batted at number three) added 71 runs. Saha was enterprising of the two batsmen, scoring 39 off 28 balls, including hitting three sixes, while Sehwag chipped in with 29 runs from 25 balls. The partnership was broken when Saha attempted to slog sweep Amit Mishra, but was beaten by a quicker and flatter delivery, made no contact with the ball and had the woodwork behind him rearranged. From 105 for 2 after 14 overs, DD could only add a further 60 runs in the final six overs. Sehwag, who was severe on Imran Tahir scoring 15 runs from four deliveries, was dismissed in the 15th over, immediately after he had hit JP Duminy for a six over midwicket; he made 47 from 41 balls, studded with four boundaries and two sixes. Glenn Maxwell picked up two sixes off Imran Tahir, but the leg-spinner had the last laugh, dismissing the Australian caught at covers. David Miller made 5 from 7 balls before he became Duminy’s second victim. Axar Patel and George Bailey picked up 19 runs off the 19th over bowled by Amit Mishra, and that helped KXIP finish with 165 runs on the board. There were six overs where the KXIP batsmen amassed 10 runs or more in the over, and six other overs in which the batsmen failed to score less than run-a-ball. Nathan Coulter-Nile was the most impressive of the KXIP bowlers; the Australian paceman bowled his three overs (which had 13 dot deliveries) for 14 runs, but surprisingly did not get to complete his quota of four overs. Amit Mishra (1-34) bowled his first three overs for 15 runs, before conceding 19 in his final over. Imran Tahir, who conceded 34 in two overs, finished his four overs with figures of 3-43 to firm up the Purple Cap on his head. So that's it. DD registered their 1st points of the campaign, 1st points since beating MI last year in 27th April 2014, 1st win in 353 days. So tomorrow SRH will take on RR who have 3 wins out of 3 & interesting to see how Sunrisers fare in that match. But that's all from now, good bye [Read more] |
