I find myself frantically checking my rumbling pokemon. Even when I know they can't come back yet, it's just comforting to know what they've got and how they're doing!

Same with the lab when I have a full party. I like watching the pokemon pop up and guessing what one is as time goes by. Bonus points if i'm in a voice chat and we're both watching it go by. It's a nice little game.

Oh! I also NEVER let my GGC go below 20? It's some weird habit I developed the first time I clicked the golden slots. It just doesn't feel right if it goes under that specific amount.

Oh! I just remembered two really good programs for the list!

GraphicsGale and Asesprite!

Aseprite is probably for more experienced pixel artists. It's pretty small and intimidating to use at first and uses more of a set palette file for colors and seems for more In-General Pixel Art like palette challenges and stuff like that despite being labeled a sprite editor...

But GraphicsGale is PERFECT for sprite artists old and new! Big & Organized working area, similar options to MSPaint (Like the handy color replacer tool!) It also has layers and has a frame animation system like photoshop. The only downfall I've found is that you can't actually save any Animated GIFs unless you pay for it. Which isn't really worth it and isn't a necessity to have to actually do what you need to on the program.

You're right about it sort of being the focus. I'm sorry if I sounded a bit stewed or angry/sour about it, haha. I just thought at the time it'd be nice for people to know why they're doing some of the things they should just in case since knowing the basics usually help me. <u>;;
Because although I do a lot of pokemon sprites, I usually found myself wondering why I have to do certain techniques and why I shouldn't use another method.

I'm glad you added it still, though, and I'm sorry if it sort of derails anything.

As lovely as those tutorials are, Abby....

Mind if I add a REALLY good one to the batch? It's just for pixel art in general but... It'll teach people the true basics and origins of spriting in general instead of having them focus on one type and teach them the don'ts of certain shading techniques and why just "hey no anti-aliasing" isn't pixel art either. Because... Pokemon sprites actually DO use anti-aliasing whether you realize it or not!

Also: "Inferno" Pokemon are just Pillow-shaded sprites. Which, imo, is a taboo in my pixel art knowledge (it's actually mentioned in this tutorial, too!)

@ ID and Chel - Thank you so much! ;w; I'm sorry I've been sooooo sososo out of it with checking things lately. I'm kicking myself into gear more.

@ Max - Sure thing! I could probably edit my first post in a bit to elaborate on the stuff I'm willing to do more and put in slots because at the moment In terms of requests I can really muster to do things on a whim like the "Thank you" doodles I've given out and stuff like these

I didn't want to make a new topic in the sprite category just for my so few bits of sprite work... I want to save that for when I want to make a sprite shop or something later! S-So I hope it's alright if I post a little sprite work I've decided to do here as well.
I want to make this my art 'hub'.

So! I decided to try my hand at spriting the Unique Castforms we have on the site! (With some slight adjustments... like the tail on the fighting castform here. It didn't feel right having it red for some reason. I'll probably end up making a more on model variation anyways, though!)

Also I never noticed that Castform's ingame weather variation sprites are all copy pasted from Gen 3. Woah. That's wonk.
