Blithe Dazzlusion

"Friends, Foes, and those who've yet ta decide, delight yer eyes 'pon 'llusionary's finest acts!"

━━━━━━━━━━━•❃°•°❀°•°❃•━━━━━━━━━━

[ 30 | Fae/Faer, He/Him | Enchanter | Cthonic Teifling | °^° | CV: Ueda Kanda ]

━━━━━━━━━━━•❃°•°❀°•°❃•━━━━━━━━━━━

[ introduction ]

First string member of the Dazzling Illusionary Circus, Blithe acts as the namesake's Illusions Master. From the moment guests step under the big top to the moment they return home, all are under faer spell. Having been with the circus for over 15 years, having seen the rise and fall of many ringmasters, Blithe is one of the oldest members and thus acts not only as the ringmaster's assistant but also as a mentor for many of the other circus members.

Despite faer sunny exterior, there is still many things that the circus doesn't know about their most senior member. Much of what happened before fae joined the circus and faer early years in it are rarely talked about, though there are rumors that fae refuse to worship Arlen

[ appearance ]

An almost middle aged teifling with pale purple skin, Blithe is quite small for faer age, only about 120cm (4 ft). Fae sport fluffed up and slightly wavey light blue hair pulled into a low ponytail with blue scelera filling up the entirety of faer eyes leaving only goat like pupils that are hidden behind purple tinted glasses. Fae sport more goat like features, with curling indigo horns and fluffy ears, a fur tipped tail whipping behind faer, sharp teeth poking out from thin lips. Fae enjoy acessoring, often swapping our faer earrings and septum piercing depending on faer mood. Stage makeup is also a staple of faer wardrobe, red eye paint covering over infernal markings and an ugly scar between faer eyes. Clothes befitting of a circus performer barely fit within an admittedly small wardrobe, full of articles that conceal any somatic casting fae may do, all ostentatiously patterned. Faer forearm crutches are equally decorated, blending in with billowing cloaks and ponchos yet sturdy enough to carry faer weight.

[ personality ]

ISTJ - Logistician | 6w5 - Guardian
Perpetual holder of the braincell, Blithe always strived to keep a cool head and rational worldview. Survival is always faer first priority, everything else comes before that but faer've expanded faer world to also encompass faer troupemates, not just faeself. Fae takes pride in faer position as a mentor for many of the newest members of the troupe, always ready to teach and encourage them to work towards the stage. Faer quite practical and has a knack for directing others into the skills that best suit them.

At times though, fae can loose sight of the bigger picture, much too focused on certain details which can make fae quite overbearing. In situations such as managing the circus, this becomes an asset but when working with other creatures it becomes more a detriment than anything that could help. Faer quite frugal, never willing to spend more than necessary and hoarding as much wealth as possible both in currency and in relationships. This cements fae as a staunchly loyal companion who, even if proven to be detrimental, will still hold on to any connection fae can.

[ magic ]

Blithe is a master of illusions, having learnt from old books and experience. Due to faer years of experience, fae can create detailed and realistic illusions with only faer active imagination as well somatic components. There is little fae can't recreate though large scale ones do require considerably more time to cast. Fae is also capable of conjuring up more than one illusion though the more fae conjure the less realistic they become. Motion is also quite difficult, requiring an indepth understanding of how something is supposed to move, the muscles that facilite the movements, the mindset which each illusion pushes and pulls into an action. Fae can mimick small motions, such as the rise and fall of a breathing chest, a lethargic blink, or even the flaps of a mouth, but anything more complex than that is out of faer reach. Perhaps with a large enough conduit made of the right materials which can be seen as an extension of the user's own body, that may change.

But as impressive as the illusions may be, they will only ever be that. Incorporeal and temporary.

[ backstory ]

In a nameless yet bustling port city, an equally nameless child of the infernal lived among the flooded cobblestone streets. The child was lucky enough that faer teeth was sharp enough to pierce through fish scales and thus lived by stealing from the fishermen and fishmongers. It was survival but the child found a yearning for a better life, one where faer could sleep without worry for drowning and could eat something other than raw fish. More than anything, fae wished that even for one day, he too could blend in with the crowds rather than the sea.

This small wish came true when a traveling circus came into town. This caught the child's attention, not for the festivities, but because all the fishmongers had closed up shop for the day. And so, the child watched the circus through the beige flaps of the big tent that had seemingly appeared overnight, wondering exactly what could have captured everyone's attention. It was then that te child was captivated buy the world shown to fae beyond the cloth, a world of high flying genasi, dragonborn who could tame even the fiercest of beasts, halflings who juggled fire while being juggled in turn by a firbolg, and at the center of it all, a teifling pulling every string.

And so every night, the child would creep back to the tent, watching the foreign world where the villagers were the outsiders with rapt attention and awe. It was as if a meal had been placed before faer hands and fae only had to reach out and grab it but it's aroma alone would sustain faer empty stomach. And once the banquet ended, fae would sneak back under faer threadbare waterlogged blankets and dream of an illusion as beautiful as the reality separated by a layer of hemp. But eventually, fae would be caught, a strong hand trapping faer in a table of quickly rotting food until the teifling who had found a home on position 0 under beaming spotlights extended a hand towards faer.

Welcomed into the Dazzlusion family, the child was given the virtue name of Blithe for faer parent's wish was for fae to be a bringer of a indifferent happiness, spreading jolly without a care. But a child with no innate attunement to the magics had little worth in a business which favored behemoths. Especially not one who was barely fed and whose legs were slowly losing their strength. Thus, the newly names Blithe dug though the circus storage and unearthed crumbling tomes that spoke of magic that could be learned by even the most unlearned of minds as long as one had imagination. Thus, despite faer slowly failing body, fae threw faeself headfirst into the study of illusory magic. With the help of faer's parent, Blithe clawed up to usurp the position of Illusions Master and as the circus traveled from town to town, fae made it a point to visit any bookshop fae could and hoard even more knowledge.

And now another festival draws close and the Dazzling Illusionary Circus will once again raise the curtains on the most spectacular of shows, all directed in the shadows by their stalwart Illusions Master

A field of yellow greeted him as Valerius opened his eyes, marigolds blooming across the grass stretching towards the horizon as bushes of yellow roses dotted the landscape to break up the monotony. Breathing in the clear air, the autumn breeze cutting through battered lungs, Valerius relished in the feeling of simply being able to take in a deep breath. This was a dream, of course he knew that, but in a dream where he could be anything and everything, simply being healthy enough to play with his twin was everything he ever wanted out of life. Experimenting with taking in deeper and deeper breaths, Valerius couldn't help but let out a laugh as he twirled around, watching the world blur as his muscles easily carried him around. Legs that would have given out under him held his weight up with unfaltering surety, his balance never tipping over nor did a dizzy spell drag him under. Letting his weight flop over and gravity drag him down, even the ground felt soft as Valerius watched the fluttering petals kicked up from his play flutter down around him.

But as the light played across translucent petals so, he felt cold. So cold.

"..."

Valeria...?"

Roy never found it easy to rest, between taking care of a child in the last few months as well as the incessant draft that turned malicious as the weather cooled, but these days it was almost like exhaustion had finally crept up and swallowed her waking world. The day had been full of running around with Ivan to complete various errands and keep the kids company all while catching up on the logistics of moving in with her brother come summer, a whirlwind of events that left her head spinning as Roy settled in for the night. Tucking the toddler in, swaddling her in the warmest blankest she owned. Of course, Ivan got the most intact one leaving Roy to curl around her charge for any semblance of warmth as the night cooled into a chill that left her shivering even as sleep clouded her eyes.

A light shake to her shoulders roused her quickly though, shooting up as the thick duvets pooled around her hips. "Huh? wha- morning?" She mumbled, eyes still heavy with rest barely taken. It was such a shame as well, Roy had just started to get nice and warm but as she rubbed the sleep crusted around pink eyes, before taking in her surroundings. The dilapidated shack that had been her home for almost 14 years had transformed into something with four standing walls and an intact roof, the warm sunshine filling it with warmth that didn't just come from the summer heat.

The real surprise though, came when a familiar voice cleared his throat beside Roy. There stood Ivan, in his arms one of the younger kids with pudgy hands woven between fastidiously cared for sandy brown locks, his cocky smirk in place. "What, graduating from a bugger to a bugger catcher, dollface?" His brother teased, a knuckle tapping against Roy's agape chin

"Oh, this is a dream."

Eloquent response by Roy Lastname, one that would surely go down in the history books as the best retort to ever be conjured. But this could be nothing but the sweetest of dreams where even without saying anything, Ivan knew. And even acquitted to such a silly unspoken demand. A dream, one where Roy didn't really want to end. But even as she thought that, Roy could see Ivan's brow furrowing ever so slightly and in a stroke of genius as if to make up for his earlier stupidity, Roy forced a yawn that came easily.

"By Vega, did going to bed early not do anything for you? With how much you're dozing off I'd reckon that you'd shoot up faster than a bean and soon we'd have to build a whole new roof just to house you." Ivan lamented, sitting down on the bed as depositing the child he had been carrying into Roy's lap. "Grow any taller and the fella's will be looking up at the tallest doll this side of the city."

Pouting at that statement, Roy gently bumped her head against her brother's shoulder, making the elder bark a sharp laugh. "But never too tall to get a good thumping." He threatened her easily, her answering grin that bared all of her sharp teeth all the comfort they needed. "Come on then, the welps are clamouring for you and I sure can't do it alone."

Slowly eating the prepared food, Valerius managed to stomach a little less than half of the bowl before shaking his head at the next offered bite. Nudging the rest of the food closer to his twin for the other to finish and grab more of for herself, he reached out with slow hands to grasp the glass of water, washing down the meal with measured sips. Already he could feel his eyes begin to droop as the warm food and full stomach lulled him into a soft sort of comfort, and if he was melted against Valeria before, he was positively a puddle now.

But that was fine with him, as long as he continued to play the shadow to the brightest light in his life, to be her reflection and steadfast by her side, he was happy.

Leaning into the touch, Valerius all but melted against his sister as he contemplated the question. He was hungry, yes, but the thought of eating anything seemed unpleasant and made his empty stomach flip in a nauseating spiral. He never kept food down particularly well, but logically he knew that some of his medicine needed a full stomach to work. But a full stomach always made him sleepy and he didn't want to spend all his time sleeping when he could be spending it with Valeria. On the other hand though, not taking the medicine meant more time in bed and Valerius desperately wanted his twin to be able to go out too, for both of them to play in the sun and read all sorts of books. Every morning was the same spiral of indecision and guilt before it ended as it always did.

Nodding slowly, Valerius let his blankets pool around his lap as he reached for the bowl with shaking hands. Theoretically he had enough strength to hold it and feed himself, even if just barely, but what sort of little brother (even if it's only by a few seconds) would he be if he didn't at least try to make the older of the two do most of the work?

The moment he saw the doorknob moving, Valerius tensed up, drawing up covers up to his chest before the impassive face of his every loyal twin, a reflection of everything that he wanted to be, stepped through and his shoulders relaxed visibly. Humming weakly, Valerius reached out to grasp at Valeria's shirt, trembling fingers barely finding purchase on the expensive fabric. The food smelled tempting, his stomach decrying how empty it was with a gurgle, and he needed to take his medicine sooner than later but Valerius was more concerned with gently tugging Valeria down to sit on the bed with him. "Woke up... you were gone..." He croaked, lip trembling slightly. The unspoken plea to stay hung heavy between them

It was odd, being back in the outskirts of the city that had watched him grow up. The familiar twists and turns hadn't changed all that much, the increase of grime and debris unsurprising though the slight flooding of the cracked streets made his heart clench. The passage of time was written with calcium deposits on dilapidated walls and the cheers of unfamiliar voices echoing down the streets. But as he rounded the corner, the familiar caved in roof of a run down house calmed his heart and he leaned against the crumbling entryway. Among the rubble, a young boy sat with a toddler in his lap, the lump of flesh babbling away without a care in the world as the older giggled, grabbing those pudgy hands and waving them around in tune to the nonsense being spouted.

"Don't think that welp can understand you quite yet." Ivan snickered, watching his baby brother whip his head around so fast that he was slightly concerned that he might get whiplash. It was worth the bright eyed look that Roy gave him though as the younger scrambled to his feet though not without making sure he had a good grasp on the infant first.

"Ivan! Lay me down and stab me twice, why are you here? Did something happen? I thought for sure the rain would stop before you come calling!" Words tumbled out of Roy's mouth at a mile a minute, questions thrown out that could be answered but Ivan couldn't even find it in himself to be to be frustrated, instead the nostalgia of it all making his smile even fonder.

"Cool the jets, wonder boy. What's with the kid? Did you finally grow enough balls to knock a doll up?" He snickered, peering at the oddly well behaved kid who wasn't even crying despite the sudden new face. Even at a glance it was obvious to anyone that it was highly unlikely that this was Roy's biological child, for one the baby looked nothing like his baby brother, but also basic biology and environmental factors meant that it was all but impossible for his almost 14 year old kid brother to have ever fathered anyone. It didn't mean that he couldn't tease though, finding it hilarious to watch Roy's pale face flush a vibrant red, made all the more notable by his naturally thin skin

Tripping over his words as he sputtered out denial after excuse, Ivan leaned back to unabashedly laugh at his brother's floundering, the protests fading into a pout as Roy realized it was a dig at his expense. "Geez, even getting a job doesn't make a bully a saint..." Roy huffed, rearranging the babe into a more comfortable position. "Nah, this little one was left by an idiot I'd love to have choice words to give who thought it would be a swell ol' idea to birth a whole baby but didn't want nothing to do with her after. Can't be no older than two years and even at that age, Madame was still bellyaching 'bout me." Even as he groused over the reality they had all known from a young age, Roy still held a hand up for the babe to try and gnaw on with a gummy smile.

It was weird, seeing someone who was basically a baby take care of another baby, but even if Ivan hated to admit it, Roy was growing up and this was irrefutable proof of it. Around this time next year, Roy would finally be living with him in the city. They'd finally be out of this ditch poor neighbourhood that had housed them for so long, able to live normal lives. But it also meant that childhood memories would stay just that as the ones who belonged in them grew into proper adults.

It was bittersweet, Ivan reminisced as the baby finally succeeded in chomping down on a pale finger

Fall winds tended to be nice and crisp, the dry winds that came from summer heat was cooling down yet not brisk enough for a winter chill. The step of leaves underfoot crunching in a satisfying hop was the things of dreams, a small luxury that he had never gotten to experience. Despite the chill that permeated the season, his hands were warm as someone dragged him along, twirling among the fields of yellow roses and azalea bushes. A high clear laugh left him as he let himself be dragged along, the joy that nestled warmly under his breast unfamiliar and addicting as he chased after it with abandon, leaping and caterwauling through scenery that blended together into a eclectic blur of colours and sensations, the once delicate scent of flowers that barely tickled his throat turning into warmth and home. This was his paradise, a place where he would willingly fall headfirst into each and every time if only to taste the heavy coating of glycol once again.

Valerius shot up with a gasp, heavy coughs wracking his chest as he bent over to hack and spit through the water that had flooded fragile lungs during the night. Fisting the plush quilt that had nearly been thrown off in the haste, Valerius took a rattling breath and launched into another round of full bodied coughs. His head spun viciously even as his coughs subsided, throat rubbed raw with the force of them as he took in shaking gasps. His chest still felt tight and wound up but as he clutched the thin nightgown soaked through with sweat, he felt each rise and fall come easier and easier to him, yet the yawning emptiness never quite left.

Snapping his head up, Valerius desperately looked around, ignoring the fact that the sun was already high in the sky and he had definitely overslept. The bed felt too large for him alone and the darkness that dropped their room in dappled light as thin silk curtains did little to block out the morning light seemed even longer than normal. Toys were put away neatly, leaving the stained wood flooring immaculate and free of dust, all the chairs pushed into grand hand carved desks, and even the door that led out to the cold house remained shut tight. Clutching the fabric under his hands even tighter, Valerius whimpered softly, the sound barely squeaking out of his sore throat as he curled into himself in the middle of the empty room.

"...'ria?"

Grasping the dagger with shaking hands, Hinata clutched it tightly as he glanced down to notice that Tyler was beginning to slow. "Um... If I'm too heavy..." She whimpered, flushing at the thought that she had grown heavy enough that carrying him had gone too much. Of course, partially it was the tail, no matter how much Hinata ate, all the weight just went straight to silvery spiked tail that seemed to grow plumper and heavier each time Hinata picked it up as it dragged around the ground. But on the other hand, if Hinata really was getting heavier well that was just embarrassing to find out when someone's carrying you!

Silver eye widening at the sight of new people, Hinata squeaked and shoved his face into Tyler's back, hiding against the older. Despite how friendly she usually liked to be, the day had been pretty scary already. being chased around by weird goop monsters and feeling your own muscles break down from how fast you're running? Scaryyyyy. Who knows what these strangers might end up doing, knowing their luck so far. "D-do you want me to hold your dagger? It might be easier..." She offered tentatively, her hands only really grasping at Tyler's shirt.

Squealing as he was carted away in one swift motion, Hinata clamped her mouth shut to keep in any of the noise bouncing around her throat just begging to be let out, craning his head to look at the quickly shrinking form of the creepy monster. It looked... almost sad, its furious wailing reverberating through the empty lands in bleating vengeance. Not for the first time, Hinata wished she still had both her eyes, the blurry sight of the weird monster distorted and terrifying. He was sure in reality it was different, that it wasn't so terrifying, but all she could do now was avert her gaze and bury his head into Tyler's sturdy back. "What... what ever are those things? Scary...." She whimpered, pressing herself as close as he could to Tyler, as if he would slip away the moment she let go.

Picking his way through the familiar passageways, the ache in his chest only tightened as Elliot recognized the route that the disembodied head of Statice was leading him through. As they passed through the largest cavern that used to act as a common room of sorts, where both lion cubs and Jabberwocks would play together, Elliot ran a hand over the goo infested walls, fingers brushing against the carved drawings on the rock face covered by the sticky substance. It did take a firm yank to unstick his fingers from the mess on the walls but and Elliot had a sinking suspicion that walking any further would only be harder from this point forward, as the tar coating the floor of the once pristine cave system grew thicker and thicker the further they walked. Rubbing the goo between his fingers, Elliot watched as rot the colour of the stars flaked away under his touch before setting his shoulders. This wasn't the time to mope and regret.

The closer that they got to the nest that he and Leo had once called theirs, the more suffocating the air became. It was as if the memories that lived deep within the curving miles of tunnels and cavers were crushing him, forcing his legs to still under the weight of what he was here to finally do. Every step felt heavy, momentous, a task only his bleeding heart could continue to do as a ebony scabbard branded a mark of shame against his thigh. But it needed to be done. For everyone's good.

His sister-in-law's words still rang clear in his head.

Rounding the corner, Elliot's breath caught in his throat as milky white eyes blocked his way, the familiar nonsensical anatomy of a creature that he had slowly learned to love like his own herd staring back blankly with no sign of any recognition. Elliot held his breath as the head cocked, turning around slowly on an axis around and around 180 degrees and some more to assess the specimen that had foolishly presented itself before the beast on a silver platter and brought its own knife and fork for the creature's enjoyment. Not a single blink passed between them as the creature's head began to spin back around to righten itself, never breaking its gaze, before opening its unfathomable jaws to show its prey the endless darkness that would soon consume him whole. Viscous drool splattered over the tar covered floors, almost as if waiting for any sort of acknowledge, dexterous tongue slithering over serrated teeth to taste the salty tense skin of its newest meal, leaving a thick trail of spit cooling against a clammy cheek, frozen stock still not even daring to breathe for fear than even a heartbeat would send the monstrosity lunging forward to swallow him in one fell swoop.

It seemed like an eternity before the tongue slipped back into the cavernous mouth that snapped shut with finality, bringing with it Elliot's heart.

A slender shadow slipped through the forest, a heavy backpack thumping against the lithe back as Elliot slithered through the shadows, taking refuge in them momentarily when once foreign sounds that had now integrated themselves into the everyday lumbered past him, dripping goo everywhere. Holding his breath as he cautiously peeked around a tree to make sure thelat the creature truly had left, Elliot slipped away, heading in deeper as he clutched provisions close to him. It was almost familiar in a twisted way, he had reminisced the first time he had made this run, but instead of slinking about like a lowly thief with something to hide, this had been his home where he could romp about and loudly complain for the master of the area to hear lound and clear. Such days were behind them now, but such reminders of nostalgia still haunted his every step. Especially when Elliot finally reached the craggy cliffs and tunnel systems that crawled and carved themselves into the small mountain forest. Currently, there was no real entrance into the underground nesting grounds, all of them blocked by Elliot and his pride, but there was one, small and narrow enough for Elliot to barely squeeze through with his provisions. Of course one of his smaller summons could absolutely make the trip down but... Well, Elliot had always been sensible and logical in all aspects except for one.

Shuffling through the scraping rocks and squishing around tight bends, Elliot ruefully thanked whatever dirty there was that he wasn't claustrophobic or else this would've been a nightmare. His footsteps slowly went from the crunchy shifting of gravel and rock to sticky squelches as the floors slowly filled with goop. Stumbling out of the narrow crack, Elliot looked up only to be meet with a floating lion head, it's ripped open maw splattering goo onto the already blackened floors that glimmered like a nebulae.

"Hi Boy, tell your master I'm back." Elliot cooed, ruthlessly stomping down the right squeeze of his chest that was wholy seperate from the earlier trip, instead raising a head to stroke the viscous slop. "And I've got food for us all."

-

Deep rumbles shook the very earthen walls that housed the slothful monster, pale sightless eyes blinking slowly as the steady drip of tar on the flooded floors served as the only indicator of the passage of time. A split open mouth opened up wide to yawn, black tongue flicking against the stale air. Hunger gnawed at the ever empty belly of the beast, scratching it's claws against fleshy walls and wailing for something to fill it. It the early days, the creature had attempted to drink from the goop that pooled around it, only succeeding in retching and gagging as more of the liquid poured out the endless maw of darkness. It soon learned to leave the liquid alone, instead letting it fill up the caves that it had yet to find a exit from. The multiple heads it controlled roamed freely around the winding tunnels, only finding empty nests and remains of a life once lived by creatures unknown to it. Sometimes voles and small animals would scutter though and trap themselves in the viscous liquid for the creature to devour, though the gnawing demands of more food never abated for long.

Whispy antenna flicked as the rustling of rocks reached it. It seemed something was coming towards it, warm meat wriggling through the cracks in the walls. It seemed larger than any other the other things it had tried to fill a always empty stomach with which was promising and quickly the ravenous creature sent it's last remaining head off to investigate. If it truly was a morsel worth gobbling up, then it would gladly feast on a such a creature who would be a fool to follow a lions head into the mouth of a more sinister predator.

But as the footsteps came closer, and a different smell than the rot and dirt that it was accustomed to. Brightness and flowers, sunshine and meadows, of long days curled up around a fire with an equally warm body against his front. The stranger smelled of fresh Statice flowers and of blood. Of so much blood and meat and nutrition that the creature heaved itself up on mishapenen hands and began to drag it's body through the caverns, following the taste of starbursting sunlight on the tongue. Of a lion, proud enough to return to a rotting den of death and corruption.

-

A piercing wail cut through the lands where nothing lived as a blue blur shot across the barren grounds screaming all the way. "No no no no no no no nooooooooo!!! I swear I'm not tasty!!" Hinata sobbed, legs burning under the strain of pushing such unnatural speeds for so long as the young child outstripped whatever was chasing her in the first place. Behind her, the goop monster, with its detached jaguar head lolling around in confusion, slowed to a stop, huffed before turning back deeming this particular prey too much to a hassle.

The young child didn't seem to notice as he barrelled on, nonsense blubbering out of her mouth as she ran as fast as he could. The air felt crushing, pressing down on his lungs as he ran, thundering paws right behind her as she squeezed her eyes shut and forced herself to run just a little faster even as her muscles frayed under the heat. Perhaps it was this that made Hinata barrel headfirst into two very very familiar people, the three of them rolling on the ground a few times before the momentum finally stopped. Thankfully, they had simply rolled from one bush into another but as Hinata popped his head up for a gasp of air, his silver eye landed on the gazelle not too far from them. "Eh? A. Um. Oh. Uh, Elora? Hi? Sorry for running into you but uh, d-do we need to run?" She asked with a shaking smile as she ducked back down into the hedges.

"Mhm! You're so many people's favourite person, the universe must love you very much." Song BingLiu agreed happily, nodding as if it was just another fact. The sun would rise from the west, air was a vital component of being alive, and the world favoured Ldyea.

"Ah, I really am looking forward to this semester. Even though there isn't much time until we graduate, I still want to learn as much as I can!" It seemed that Song BingLiu was quite fired up, even his scratchy voice unable to hide the enthusiasm and zeal that the prefect had for learning, the only real love that he had.

It had been quite some time since Myrddin had attended a Ceremony of Decision. In recent years, just making the journey had been too difficult on his old bones but now that he had been reborn, things were nice and easy now. Though that couldn't be said for the young ones. Gossip was about the only thing he could keep up with before his rebirth and the CinderSky welps were always a hot topic. There were more ghost types than normal, litwicks, driftloons, and gastly making up most of the children who had crowded around him clamouring for stories. Myrddin didn't like the sound of that. There should always be room for a wide range of pokemon to have fun with, but something was throwing that balance out. It worried him, but as he ambled towards his old clan, intent on giving his greetings to those who were once friends, he resolved to keep that locked up tight and away. Today was not a day for worries, but for celebration

Buried in the dirt, Sumi hummed nonchalantly as he observed the milling pokemon before him. Opening his mouth to let out a yawn, he lazily wondered where he could go to next for a nice nap. The dirt in the ceremonial grounds wasn't very good, much too dry and full of worries to be anything comfortable. Ah, be recently, all the good mud spots have been drying up, even the ones by the raging river bank that always threatened to pull even the most experienced of swimmers under the currents. Sumi liked it when things were nice and relaxed, where the biggest problem he had to deal with were hatchings who had stepped on a thorn accidentally. Shaking his head, Sumi buried himself deeper into the dry dirt and closed his eyes, hoping to rest a bit before everything began in earnest

"You get to say that only because you're good at everything!" Song BingLiu whined, pouting. If dictionaries had images to go with each entry, he was pretty sure that Ldeya's face would be beside "pretty privilege" and "perfect". It was almost unfair how talented one person could be.

It didn't matter to her though, when a boy just a few years older than her took Roy under his wing, gave her a name, and taught her how to survive. Her big brother, Ivan, was the one who first dyed her hair, dunking his head into the dirt and rubbing the blond strands until they took on a dirty, earthen colour. Character name:
Leo Baskerville

Gender identity:
Agender

Prefer pronouns:
It/Its, He/Him

Sexuality:
AroAce

Age:
36

Animal they're combined with:
Jabberwock

Crystal color:
Dark royal purple with a Indigo gradient intermixed evenly with a light almost periwinkle blue. Golden flecks dot the crystal every so often, making the crystal appear as if it's a night sky. They are the same colour as his eyes coincidentally

Rarity:
Mythical

Original Appearance:
Leo's eyes held the stars, dead and lifeless as they are, specks of gold glimmering amongst the purple nebulae. It keept such a mysterious gaze hidden behind a pair of thick rimmed glasses, a gift from someone close to his heart, and carefully cut hair that fell over its eyes in tasteful waves, pulled back into a low ponytail whenever needed. Even its thick hair seem otherworldly, soft and shifting purple under the sunlight but its pale skin was in stark contrast to its dark attire from spending much of its time tending to the Jabberwocks in their darkened cave systems, alabaster against ebony. It enjoyed clothes that it could move comfortably in, often finding suits or anything formal to be much to stiff for its liking

Combined with a Jabberwock, something thought to only exist in imaginative fictional nonsense, Leo's combined form was equally nonsensical. The most distinct part of it was it's height, limbs elongated to almost disproportionate limits with large black feathery wings bracketing these oddities away. The wings glittered like its crystal, each feather glimmering under any light. With a long whip like tail with crystalline scales, clawed nails that never seemed to dull, and each teeth sharpened to a vicious point, Leo's form was enough for most people to run just by looking at its uncovered face.

Infected appearance:
After infection, the nonsense that had permitted its combined form takes that up a few more notches. Its neck, though decapitated, is long and scaled yet segmented, only held together by the goo dripping lazily out of the open wounds. Its eyes, once filled with the stars have become bug eyed and blank though no less smouldering, tears of goo steadily dripping down its cheeks as long whisker like tendrils stick to its face, and two almost feathery antena have integrated themselves into its hair. Its mouth hags open in an almost Glasgow smile, displaying the dripping rows of pointed teeth and a empty cavernous mouth that seems to never end. Around the main head float other ones, thinly attached to the neck by goo, most of the heads being of forest creatures though a lion head always stays close to the main head. It lacks any proper limbs, all of them having turned into goo that Leo controls under its whims, only the faintest suggestion of numerous hands, legs, wings or even bladed tails remains.

Personalites before infection:
Despite its meek appearance, Leo had an incredible temper, thunderous and tempestuous. It despised higher authority and and did its best to not bother itself with things that actively ignited it's anger. Because of its upbringing, it was very self sufficient and prefered to do things on its own, often refusing help and stubborn to a fault. Outwardly, it stayed polite and level headed but was often times seething on the inside and ready to wring someone's neck. While friendly and generally a good person, it stuck close to those who proved themselves to be trustworthy and placed all his trust into them. Leo's fear of being alone despite liking the quiet was always a struggle but it made do by keeping his family as close as it could by his side. It was self aware and deeply introspective, acknowledging that it probably had anger issues and was a little too codependent, especially towards a certain someone, but he was content with living as he was.

How they got infected:
Midnight walks weren't anything new, walking hand in hand with its husband as they traverse the woods that surrounded the Jabberwock nests that the Baskerville family has tended to for generations. But what was new was the strewn corpses of familiar animals that the two of them called friends, all of them missing their heads. As the pair ventured further into the forest, they came across one of the mysterious creatures they were warned about, dripping goo over the carcass of one of his husband's beloved lions. These lands were the ancestral nesting grounds of the creatures Leo had sworn his life to caretaking, but seeing young Statice who just minuites prior was frolicking with his siblings under his aging mother's ever watchful gaze, who had connected him and his husband together, headless as goo replaced his blood only hardened it's desire to crush the intruder under its heel. It was only when he noticed a bladed tail snapping towards his husband that Leo wondered if they should have fled instead, such a thought small and festering as he stepped infront of his husband.

Background:
Not much is actually known about it and the only other person who knows anything keeps his lips tightly shut

Characters name:
Elliot Baskerville

Gender identity:
Trans Male

Prefer pronouns:
He/Him

Sexuality:
Achillan

Age:
37

Animal they're combined with:
European Lion

Crystal color:
Light periwinkle blue with swirls of sunflower yellow and streaks of dark royal purple though it's fading

Rarity:
Common

Appearance:
Elliot has a youthful face with pale skin from despite being in the sun for long periods of time, blending with his pale blond hair and light eyes. He burns really easily and so wears long layers, coats making up a large portion of his wardrobe. He isn't very tall, his face quite boyish for his age despite having strong bone structure and it is a source of his explosive temper. His attire is formal and stiff, especially when attending social events. When he's alone though, he loves to wear warm and comfortable clothing. Something thats perfect for curling up by the fire and reading a good book or a day spent inside with the people he wants

Lacking any human ears, Elliot instead has rounded lion ears blending among his sandy hair which glimmers a pale blue under the sun with a long thin tail to match. His legs have been modified to walk digitigrade, resembling more a lion's than any humans, his hands following suit with retractable nails and paw pads on his palms which sparkle his crystal colour.

Personalites:
Elliot is proud, hot-headed, outspoken but compassionate and has a gentle nature even if he hides it under hundreds of layers of formality. He presents himself as prim and proper, the proper gentleman that is ready to act at a moments notice, all in an facade to keep his face as someone who once belonged to a house of high standing. His knowledge of fighting is extensive and exhaustive but he doesn't like to battle, instead content with just living out a simple life. He is dedicated to his values but when confronted with an experience that challenges his prior knowledge, he is open-minded enough to reassess what he has learnt. Those who earn his companionship are his friends for life, loyal to the end. He is selfless and understands the sacrifices that he needs to make to ensure the safety of others, but he will always hold one person above anyone else.

Background:
Son of a long family of wolf caretakers, all who took on wolven forms through their crystals, Elliot took great pride in the family linage until the crystal resonated with a lion. A cat. A cat instead of a dog. Like his older siblings, like his parents. Like everyone else. While his family wasn't the type to disown him over something so small, he always felt the need to prove himself, sharp teeth still bared at everyone and anything that moved, so desperate to feel a part of the pack that he had once fit in like another puzzle piece. It was only when he stumbled across a den on his family's lands, occupied by three Jabberwocks and a snarling crystal folk . That was the day he meet Leo, his greatest enemy, and the only person who could match him. Leo repeatedly challenged everything he had assumed as normal, flipping his worldview on its head and forcing Elliot to, for once, think for himself and not in terms of how his family wanted him to act. He learned how to take care of lions and let his affection for them show, let himself wear something other than work clothes and approach the Jabberwocks with open hands. Together with Leo, they helped a older mother lion who had a history with complicated births bring to the world a happy healthy litter of cubs and that was when he asked Leo to stay by his side forever. Of course Leo returned the proposal with barbed words and a scathing scolding but in the Autumn of that same year, they signed the papers to become husbands.

Character name:
Hinata Van Laar

Gender identity:
Bigender

Prefer pronouns:
He/Him, She/Hers

Sexuality:
Demi-Gray

Age:
13

Animal they're combined with:
Bluefin Tuna

Original crystal color:
Pale lime green

Rarity:
Rare

Appearance:
Small and wiry, Hinata doesn't look any older than 10 with a baby face and short stature. Bright silver eyes twinkle with a sort of childish innocence only dulled by the realization that there's only one eye, the other a mess of scar tissue and empty. Its difficult to notice, however, when soft brown curls hide the missing left eye from sight, dirty and matted but no less fastidiously styled. Spending much of his time in the fields has tanned Hinata's skin quite a bit and the clothes she wears reflect that, being practical and means to give as much movement to freakishly strong legs.

His legs have scales glittering the same pale lime green as his gem, thin transparent webbing barely noticeable between her fingers and toes. She sports a heavy thick tuna tail that seems almost too big for his body, often times found just holding the tail in pudgy hands rather than letting it trail behind. Running across her neck and ribs are gills that do work in pulling oxygen into his body, a barely noticeable thin film across her eyes keeping most derbies out of them.

Personalities:
Eager and attentive, Hinata is as the name suggests, a ray of sunshine. She looks at the world with innocence and whimsy, always finding new things to admire and fawn over. The purity in which she holds the world is almost refreshing in a way, his heart on his sleeve and without a means to ever hide her true intentions. It is quite obvious that he has a fear of large cats, always hiding behind one of the older colourless whenever another colourless combined with a jaguar or any other similar animal arrives, her small frame shaking so hard even the ground would move if it could. Despite that, even in the uninhabited lands, he is still cheerful and upbeat, a reprieve from the bitter resentment that claws the place apart, though it seems almost intentional. As if the moment that Hinata doesn't smile, reality will come crashing down on the small colourless and crush her under the weight of it all

What they have done to become colorless:
Poached a fertilized Jabberwock egg and when about to be caught, smashed it

Background: Warning: Childhood Near Death Experience
Born to a large family with 12 siblings in total, Hinata was always working to look after the younger ones while simultaneously foraging for enough resources to keep them all healthy and fed. He was always praised as a good kid, warm hands ruffling her hair as she worked, but she wasn't given much attention outside of that. Just another member of the school of fishes, indistinguishable from the rest of his siblings. I want to be noticed, I want to be different, I want to be loved, I want I want I want I want so so so bad. These thoughts were the only thoughts she could muster as he crept into one of the cave systems that everyone was warned against entering. At first it was just a small act of rebellion, for his family to panic for a moment before she inevitably showed his face and was showered with relief and enough attention to last a week at most, but when she stumbled across a nest with a lone egg resting against it, his plans changed. A mysterious egg left alone? If she brought it back then it would be a great discovery and surely everyone's eyes would be on the person who maybe found a whole new species of animal! The parents weren't around anyways so Hinata was just following the rules and taking care of the wildlife, protecting and raising this little one with all the care it deserved. But when he began making her way back to the surface, egg safely tucked under his arms, Hinata heard a growl from behind, multiple lions demanding for the return of the egg. Terrified out of her mind, he ran, faster and faster as the snarls and pounding paws followed, keeping up with her heightened speed that threatened to heat his small body until the muscles broke down and tear at the seams. It was this fear that drove Hinata to look back, only to be meet with the rake of claws down the side of her face, knocking him back and landing with a sickening crack. Before she could even scream, black smoke enveloped him as she felt teeth close around his neck, the uninhabited lands staring back as blood dripped sluggishly down a shellshocked face

"Really, it's only my grades that are good but thank you, sir! I'll try and keep that in mind!" Song BingLiu ducked his head at the praise, pressing his lips together to keep the giddy smile at bay. Sure his grades were an impartial marker of how good he was but it was really nice to hear it from someone directly.

"Yes! Yes, of course!" Song BingLiu nodded furiously, ignoring how his reedy voice cracked with excitement. He couldn't believe it, getting to sit down and talk with a professor? That was unbelievable, he couldn't believe his luck! Of course many would say that their doors are always open to students looking to ask them questions but to have someone express a desire to actually talk about magical theory with him? Unbelievable.

"Um, actually, Professor Wright has a few of my stuff from previous years if you're interested? I ran theories by him since he teaches spells and all so..." He trailed off hopefully, cringing internally at him bringing up some of his older works. They certainly weren't the best out there but it did showcase his growth as a student!

Shrinking under the scrutiny, Song BingLiu wrung his hands as he got his thoughts in order, hands fumbling even in the air, signs stuttering as well worn actions turned clumsy under pressure. But as more words flowed out of his mouth, the more confident his hands became until the nervous wreck that had shown Ldeya had all but melted away into a nerd who finally had someone to babble to.

"Well, I wanted an alternative to signing. Not many students' know it so I turned to magic, but seeing that I'm only really good at sound magic, I had to find work arounds. Of course, Ohm's Acoustic Law means that I'd have to make multiple sounds to achive this which isn't practical. Accounting for a set of a number of constituent pure harmonic tones at a time that the human ear can account for is certainly the biggest hurdle but sound magic makes it a little easier. I'm already used to visualizing the sounds that my body produces so attaining it to that was simple enough. And because sound obeys laws of Reflection, by manipulating the retuning sound, full sentences can be made. It only really works close quarters because of that, but in theory, if I can manipulate the sound waves as they leave, it can work at longer distances!

"There's a few flaws in my theory, one is that I can't control the reflection of sound, that's already predetermined. Another is that speech is just... unpredictable. Inflection and pacing is distinct to each person so of course mimicking my own voice is the easiest. It also is incredibly dependent on the laws of Reflection thus making the gaps between sounds inevitable. My grasp on sound isn't good enough to solve these problems yet, but I'm sure Professor, you're more than capable of something like that! Music magic is basically Sound Magic but harder anyways so I'm sure that you can build upon my theories. I actually wrote my thoughts along with the other walls that I ran into, if you want them later?"

By the end, his wretched voice was needle thin and croaking, an already ugly sound made all the more unsightly by the enthusiasm pushing it forward. But he was shining bright, eyes sparkling and hands moving in large yet sharp movements to keep up with the sheer amount of information pouring forth.
